1960 Ford Starliner 2 Door Hardtop, Bubbletop, Galaxie, Rat Rod, Hot Rod on 2040-cars

Year:1960 Mileage:104000
Location:

Raleigh, North Carolina, United States

RAT RODDERS: This chassis is perfect! Not much to add, just look at the pics. Build an obnoxiously loud powerplant into this vehicle with some great wheels and you'll turn heads at any show or cruise-in!!
RESTORERS: Original, largely unmolested, 90% complete chassis. Mechanically, the 390 CID engine, 3 spd. Cruise-o-Matic, and radiator currently sitting in the car came from a 62' T-bird. The engine is not bolted in nor hooked up so it is currently not running but the gentleman I purchased the car from recently said he ran it before dropping it in this Starliner. I believe he's an honest guy but since I haven't seen it run I can't make any promises about it or the transmission so THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD "AS IS" WITH NO WARRANTIES. The car has a steering column and pedals for a standard transmission setup which is great if you'd want to put a floor shift in. Although everything seems to be complete the working condition of the differential, brakes, suspension and dashboard components is unknown. The steering components need some work.....definitely needs an idler arm. All original wiring seems to be in place. All windows and doors work nicely except the passenger door doesn't latch. The doors, hood, and trunk all open and shut very nicely. As far as the body is concerned, it appears the car has spent an extensive period of time out in the elements. The fenders, door bottoms, lower rockers, and lower quarters all have some degree of rust-thru. Surprisingly, other than an area under the pedals, the floors, under the sill plates and the wheelhouses are very solid. The frame and body mount areas all look very good. The trunk, tailight panel, and upper quarters are all in pretty good shape. The very bottom of the trunk floor above the gas tank is thin and has some holes. Hood lid and trunk lid lips have some rot. Front grille area is solid but a better radiator support will be needed. Firewall area is excellent. Roof and areas around the glass are ok. Vandals have claimed a lot of the glass. Only the wings, driver's side quarter glass, and (fortunately) the rear window are good. The stainless window trims are still fine. Tires are matching and brand new!! Major components missing are front bumper and wheel covers. The T-bird radiator would work with this car but is uninstalled because the T-bird mounts and shroud don't fit the Starliner.
PURISTS: You may find this one to be a little rough to bring back to a great original but very possible with a good donor vehicle. Originally a 292 CID with a 2 spd. Ford-o-Matic. Looks like it still has the original 3:10 rear end.

PLEASE NOTE: This car comes with a CLEAR TITLE !!

I have tried to provide a complete and honest description of this car's condition. Examine all photos closely and please ask questions. As you probably know, Starliners are very desirable and are worth big money when completed. Although this car would require a good deal to get it in top shape, there is a lot of  cushion between what this car can be acquired for now and what the completion value would be. Do your research. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST !!!

Ford bringing C-Max Solar Energi Concept to CES

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

Solar energy might not be enough to power a usable electric vehicle on its own, but that doesn't mean it can't lend a helping hand. And that's what Ford has in store for the Consumer Electronics Show opening next week in Las Vegas.
Ford has essentially taken its C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid and fitted it with the latest in solar panel technology developed by SunPower, acting like a magnifying glass to capture as much of the sun's energy as possible. So you get the benefit of an electric vehicle, with the range assurance of a hybrid, without needing to draw from the grid.
Ford estimates that a day of charging in the sunshine will give the C-Max Solar Energi concept the same full charge as the production PHEV, with a total range of 620 miles - 21 of which can be run on electric power alone. Otherwise the vehicle - which remains a concept for the time being - is identical to the existing C-Max Energi. The top-selling model in Ford's growing hybrid and electric vehicle portfolio helps put Ford just behind Toyota among the top seller of hybrids in America. Scope out the images in the gallery above and the video clip and press release below for a closer look.

'Car Wars' says Ford, Honda to pick up share, Fiat-Chrysler ambitions downplayed

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

Don't look for a tremendous shifts in automotive market share over the next three years because it might not be coming. That's at least according to the annual Car Wars report by John Murphy, from Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Research.
In the report's analysis of automakers' market share from 2013 to 2017, it predicts only small changes among the major companies. Ford and Honda see the biggest positive effect with an estimated 0.5 percent increase in their shares over the next three years; to 16.2 percent and 10.3 percent respectively. On the flip side, European automakers and Nissan are expected to lose 0.2 percent each to fall to 8.3 percent and 7.8 percent each respectively. The rest of the industry is predicted to hold steady as it is now.
The biggest loser in that prediction might be Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles. The report certainly throws a wet blanket on its plan for significant gains in market share. Murphy told The Detroit News that the company's goal was "almost unattainable."

Saleen SA-30 Mustang, Camaro and Challenger help celebrate the big 3-0

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

After 30 years of tuning performance cars and building racecars, Saleen is celebrating its racing heritage with a limited-production car line called SA-30. Based on the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, Saleen will only build 10 of each SA-30 model at a base price of $95,000.
For that money, buyers will get upgraded suspension, brakes and engines, and while the power figures have not been released for the SA-30 620 Camaro and SA-30570 Challenger models, the SA-30 302 Mustang will be the top performer with 625 horsepower. Each car will be painted up in a custom pearl white hue with black and yellow accents, and get white wheels shrouding yellow powder-coated brake calipers. Inside, the SA-30 offerings will all get a proper Saleen interior with black leather and white Alcantara on the seats, along with the expected smattering of SA-30 badges.
On all three SA-30 models, customers will have various options available to further customize their cars, including a rear-seat delete option that transforms each car's cabin into a race-inspired interior with a chassis-strengthening rear cross brace. Perhaps the coolest feature of all, though, is the Saleen Frost-Touch Glass that is an option on the SA-30 302 Mustang. Similar to the Mercedes Sky Control roof first introduced on the Mercedes SLK, the Saleen Frost-Touch Glass allows the Mustang's optional glass roof and rear window to be switched from transparent to opaque at the push of a button.
