For sale is a 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500XL Fastback.  This car is equipped with a Big Block 390 V8 and 4 speed manual transmission.  Odometer shows 38,730 miles, but is being sold as True Mileage Unknown since it can not be documented.  Engine features the rare 427 aluminum upper intake with two 4 barrel carbs.  This car is originally a factory XL 4-speed manual car.  Car has been set up for power steering but the power steering belt has been removed due to cylinder leaking.  Car is equipped with 4 wheel manual drum brakes and 9" open rear.  Car has new carpet installed with asphalt/sound deadening backing and Dynamat on the floors, firewall and behind the door panels.  New door panels have also been installed.  Seats are in overall good condition, except for a small rip (about a 1/2 inch long) on the side of the driver seat.  Interior is in overall excellent condition.  CD player has been mounted inside of glove box.  LED lights installed in guages.  New Stewart Warner guages with sending units installed.  New dash mounted tachometer installed as well.  Rear axle seals were recently replaced.  Exterior of the car is in excellent condition.  I have brand new foam seat backs and cushions for the front seats that will come with this car as well.  There is NO rust anywhere on this car.  This car was built in Dallas in 1963 and was then sent to Dallas.  Engine runs VERY strong and smooth, but does smoke a little.  Car is very solid on the road and drives extremely well.  This car is a very nice example of a 1963 1/2 Galaxie 500XL.  I would definately recommend coming to see this car in person to appreciate it!!  If you have any questions about the car, feel free to ask!!  Thanks for looking!!

How Ford plans to handle insurance and repair questions surrounding new aluminum-bodied F-150

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Building a car out of aluminum has a number of benefits - the lighter weight allows the vehicle to be more agile, more fuel efficient, make better use of its power and be more resistant to dings and dents. The downside to the advanced construction, though, is that repairs are both challenging and expensive. That's troubling for the new, aluminum-bodied Ford F-150, because it's kind of made a name for itself as a rugged, durable work vehicle.
How will the legions of Ford buyers cope when it comes time to insure and repair their new trucks? Well, according to Ford, it's expecting a ten-percent jump in insurance costs for the aluminum-bodied F-150, although Ford's truck marketing manager, Doug Scott, was quick to point out that the F-150 is generally cheaper to insure than its competition from Ram and General Motors. "At the end of the day, that's sort of a wash," Scott told Automotive News at last week's Detroit Auto Show. "We've spent a lot of time and feel very comfortable that that's not going to be an inhibitor."
The other issue facing Ford is the distinct lack of body shops that have the training or equipment to repair aluminum-bodied vehicles. AN cites an estimate from the Automotive Service Association claiming that of the 30,000 independent body shops in the US, less than 10 percent are able to work on aluminum.

Mustang GT350 reveal coming Nov 17?

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Ford looks to have something really big planned for the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Blue Oval has released the first of five teaser videos on the brand's performance heritage, and aside from some great images of racers over the years, the video includes a series of teaser images, the last of which points to November 17, 2014.
That's the day before press days open in LA, and considering the propensity of global automakers to plan lavish debuts the night before a major international auto show, it's a virtual certainty that Ford will be showing off some sort of special vehicle.
That'd be news in and of itself, but based on the images shown in Ford's teaser video - which include an Alcantara steering wheel, a "Powered by Ford" valve cover, aluminum pedals, sticky tires, a big, round exhaust tip, a honeycomb grille and a serious set of wheels - it seems very likely that Ford will be showing something performance oriented.

Toyota hangs on to title of world's largest automaker for first half of 2013

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

General Motors and Ford can have all the success they please, but it doesn't seem like America's two largest manufacturers are going to topple Toyota in the first half of 2013. According to Reuters, Toyota moved 4.91 million vehicles in the first six months of 2013, representing a 1.1-percent drop from the same period in 2012.
GM is on the rise, though, with a four-percent increase in global sales, to 4.85 million. Volkswagen, still sitting in third, saw a 5.5-percent jump to 4.7 million vehicles in the first half of 2013.
If this pace continues for Toyota, it'll finish 2013 in the top sales spot for the second year in a row. The manufacturer fell to third, behind GM and VW, in 2011 after earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged its production capacity.
