1963 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible 390ci V-8 Priced Right.     HI, I am auctioning off a really cool Ford Convertible. The ole Galaxie has a great running 390ci FE engine and the Ford-o-matic transmission shifts good also. The body is fairly decent with some dents, dings, and normal rust issues that come with a 1963 model vehicle. From what I can tell { and I've been all over this thing pretty good } structurally the car is pretty good. The frame is in really good condition and the body to frame supports looked really good also. The inner rockers are in decent shape. The inner rear wheel wells are good, floor pans has been replaced a long time ago, but the trunk floor and the side trunk floor drop downs needs to be replaced. The outer quarter panels are pretty rough from middle to down low and will need some metal repairs or replacement. The doors feel good and solid underneath and the front fenders look pretty good too. The inner front fenders is good, the front and rear A-arm cross members are very good, front and rear leaf spring perches are very solid, and the convertible X rail in the center of the frame is excellent. Please look at the pictures because the Galaxie will need some body work but it is a pretty good ole convertible that you can drive and restore as you go. The interior is pretty much all there but will need restoring or you can live with all the flaws and drive it like it is for awhile. The head light switch is missing and someone wired in a couple of flip switches and the lights do work. The convertible top covering is gone but the top bows and mechanics are all there { top pump, lift ram cylinders, missing the top switch on the dash } the lift rams are disconnected so you can raise and lower the top manually. The Galaxie has power steering and drives and rides good. The tires are fair and the wheels are just plain steel. The rear end is a 9" with no whine or noise and the brakes work good. This is a great convertible that needs to be restored but it is priced right for that lucky winning bidder. Please look at all the pictures and ask all questions and i'll get back to you. Cash payment and pickup of vehicle is expected within 7 days of auction close. Shipping and pickup of vehicle is the buyers responsibility. This Ford does run and drive but please take notice that it is an old car that needs restoring, if you live a fair distance away I would suggest hauling the convertible home. All items are sold as is, where is. Please look at my feedback and bid with confidence, good luck and happy bidding, thanks.

Ford recalls 434k vehicles for several unrelated issues

Mon, 07 Apr 2014

It seems that the hard winter in much of the country has been as rough on some Fords as it has on many people. The Blue Oval is recalling roughly 434,000 vehicles in two separate recalls, and one of them partially caused by the salt used to melt the snow on roads.
The first recall covers 385,750 2001-2004 Escape models in the Midwest, Northeast and Canada because a subframe could rust and eventually fail. This is partially due to the road salt used in those areas, and about 349,000 of the affected vehicles are in the US. To remedy the problem, dealers are installing a reinforcement cross brace on the frame to strengthen them. There has been one crash caused by the failure but no injuries. According to The Detroit News, this is not the first rust-related recall for Ford. It estimates the company has repaired over two million vehicles since 2010 for problems on vehicles related to the iron oxide, including the rear wheel wells of the Freestar minivan.
The second recall covers 48,950 2013-2014 Ford Fusion, Escape, C-MAX and Lincoln MKZ models because welds in their seatbacks don't meet National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards. The fault affects the front seats, and the sub-standard welds joining the setback to the recliner could increase the chance on injury. There have been no reported injuries or accidents caused by the problem, but there are 42,972 affected vehicles in the US and 4,744 in Canada.

Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.

Are you Ford's next Bullitt Mustang? [w/poll]

Thu, 27 Mar 2014

Ford has a long history of offering special editions of its legendary Mustang. One of the most vaunted of those trim packages, though, has only been offered twice. The first time was in 2001, and then again in 2008. Yes, we're talking about the Bullitt.
Named for the infamous Dark Highland Green Mustang Fastback driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 cop melodrama Bullitt, the car was famous for not just its pilot, but the high-speed chase it took part in during the movie. Now, we think we have images of the next Bullitt.
According to our spy photographers, the paint is a "dead-ringer" for the Dark Highland Green that has signified these special edition Mustangs. While we're inclined to agree, it's also worth pointing out that this shade looks very similar to one of the 2015's other new colors, Guard. We've yet to see one on the road (let alone in such dreary conditions), so it's tough to say for certain.
