1964 Ford Galaxie 500xl on 2040-cars
Brewster, Massachusetts, United States
Transmission starts in 2nd unless manually put in 1st and last row of stitching in headliner just let go a couple weeks ago going down the highway with the windows open. I drive this car every weekend and some days to and from work. New price reflects headliner and transmission rebuild credit as well as a radiator expansion tank that needs topping off every few drives( could be brazed at neck) $10k+ into car. Very solid. Will include two extra front fenders (try to find!) Left front is the worst spot on the whole car as it had mud packed in it when I found it. Tires and rims brand new (i have original rims as well) All new brakes, distributer, coil, plugs, all fluids, gas tank, sending units. All new dash lights, fuel and temp gauge work, all interior and exterior lights working, clock runs fast, radio does not work. Original car, great driver. Barn find car. No room left to store. Check my feedback. I've tried to represent this car for what it is, the good and bad. I won't give it away, but don't want to watch it sit outside until I can get to it. Car for sale locally as well. I have another Galaxie on the way. Buyer pays shipping, but happy to help load. Please contact with any questions. Opening bid is $400 above my last best offer. Try finding another 500xl with a swing away steering wheel and 390 fastback option. I may be open to selling a really nice six pack set up and shorty cast iron headers with this car for additional $$, but will NOT separate.

Muscle wins big at 2013 Amelia Island Concours as 1936 Duesenberg, 1968 Ford GT40 take top honors
Wed, 13 Mar 2013The 18th-annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance took place this past weekend, and in one of the show's biggest years yet (bringing in more than 25,000 spectators and attracting more than 300 vehicles), two powerhouses ended up winning the judges' hearts. The top Concours d'Elegance award went to a 1936 Duesenberg SJN, while the Concours de Sport went to one of the celebrated marques, a 1968 Ford GT40.
Owned by Helen and Jack Nethercutt of Sylmar, CA, this flawless Duesy is described as "one of the most powerful open cars of the 1930s," and it displays design cues of the era like rolled fenders and a tapered rear end. The SJN's supercharged straight-eight allowed it to accelerate to 100 miles per hour in just 17 seconds - surely not a disappointing feat for its day.
On a much different level of performance and timelessness, this Gulf-livery GT40 from the Rocky Mountain Auto Collection is not outdone by the elegance of the big Duesenberg thanks to some well-documented racing history. This not only includes winning at LeMans in both 1968 and 1969 - Chassis No. 1075 also managed to win a total of six times in just 11 races.
Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers
Thu, 12 Jun 2014For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. Also, be sure to stay until the end because The Aficionauto teases a future Jurassic Park-themed vehicle. Scroll down to check out the motor pool.
Ford looks back on 50 years of the Mustang in Detroit
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Ford has something special sitting in its booth here at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. In fact, it brought two special somethings in the form of the Ford Mustang 1 Concept that first saw the light of day in 1962 and the very first production Mustang that rolled off the production line in 1964.
These classic creations are sharing floor space with the brand-new 2014 Mustang in honor of the pony car's 50th Anniversary. Since Ford's latest 'Stang already made its auto show debut (at a number of locations, including Los Angeles), we think it's pretty cool that the Blue Oval did something special for its home-town show.
Check out both the Mustang 1 Concept and first production 1964.5 Mustang above and below.
