Power brakes, power steering, power top. Car has been babied its whole life I believe, and certainly during the last 12 years or so that my wife and I have owned it.  It is in exceptionally nice shape.  All body panels fit as they should, doors, trunk and hood all open and shut like a new car. No body wrinkles. No rust issues.  Very good paint.   Excellent tires.  Original interior is superb with straight, crack-free dash pad, door and quarter interior panels and both buckets and rear seats are excellent. There is some pitting on the console. The 352 runs perfectly and the automatic transmission works as it should.  There is an exhaust manifold leak on the driver's side manifold...annoying but easily fixable.  The original bumpers show minor pitting but you have to look really close to see it.  When I took it on a 3,000 mile vacation a couple years ago I added cruise control. (small controls tastefully almost hidden under the dash near the driver)  I had no issues at all on the vacation.  It drives straight and true, brakes are in top condition, and you can confidently drive this car home. Top is showing some age-related discoloration, but a vinyl dye job will bring the color back.  The top mechanism works as it should and the top has a glass rear window.  The top boot fits snug. This is a great car and worth every dime of my buy-it-now price.  Please call me or email if you have any questions.  Mike  719 660 5504. mike@rmdrc.com

Truckmakers squabbling over who can sell Jimmy Fallon a pickup

Sat, 08 Mar 2014

Snagging a celebrity endorsement is a big deal for automakers, as evidenced by the recent efforts of the Detroit Three to try and woo The Tonight Show's newest host, Jimmy Fallon, into one of their trucks.
After announcing during Wednesday night's show that he was in the market for a pickup truck, Fallon set off a firestorm of efforts on Twitter, with both Ford and Chevrolet petitioning the funnyman to test out a truck. According to Ad Age, Ford recommended the King Ranch edition of its next-generation F-150 while the show was still airing. Chevy, meanwhile, waited until the next morning to pitch a Silverado to Fallon.
The winner of this social media feeding frenzy, though, was Ram. Promoting a variation of its "Guts, Glory, Ram" tagline, the Auburn Hills-based manufacturer created the hashtag #GUTSGLORYFallon. It even went so far as to park a Ram 1500 outside 30 Rockefeller Center in New York, where The Tonight Show is filmed. On the back of the Ram sat a sign, reading "Big enough, Jimmy? Test it out," referencing a joke from the Wednesday show.

Ford reveals automated Fusion Hybrid

Thu, 12 Dec 2013

Autonomous cars may still be in their infancy, but more and more big names in the auto industry are diving in head first. Nissan is already making strides with a semi-autonomous Leaf EV and General Motors is planning to offer semi-autonomous tech by 2020. And then there's Google, doing its thing with a fleet of Toyota Prius. Now, Ford is showing off its latest automated effort, a driverless Fusion Hybrid.
Partnering with the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and State Farm Insurance, the project is part of Ford's Blueprint for Mobility, the company's plan for transportation beyond 2025. "The Ford Fusion Hybrid automated vehicle represents a vital step toward our vision for the future of mobility," Chairman Bill Ford said. "We see a future of connected cars that communicate with each other and the world around them to make driving safer, ease traffic congestion and sustain the environment."
The automated Fusion features four LiDAR infrared sensors that scan the road 2.5 million times every second, using a principle similar to the echolocation used by dolphins or bats. Using the infrared light emitted by the LiDAR, the car can draw a picture of everything within 200 feet to create a map of its surroundings. According to Ford, the sensors are able to tell the difference between a paper bag and a small animal from a football field away.

Lincoln trumpets $129M investment, 300 new jobs in Louisville for MKC

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

Remember when we used to talk about how close Lincoln was to being axed and how it seemed any day now the Grim Reaper would use it as a car service back to the grave? Last time we did it was, oh, not even a month ago. What a difference 27 days makes: Ford and Lincoln are trumpeting a $129M investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant that builds the MKC.
In July the MKC was the third-best-selling Lincoln of the brand's six offerings, beat by the MKZ and - by a much smaller margin - the MKX. It has sold 2,895 units in the two months it's been on sale, which is more than half the year-to-date sales of the MKS, MKT and Navigator. It's already important, is what we're trying to say, and this is before the Chinese market gets a crack at it later this year.
The money headed to Kentucky will be joined by 300 new workers, another marker in Ford's march to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the US by next year. You can read more about it in the press release below.
