This 1965 Galaxie 500xl convertible was owned by my father and I have recently inherited it. Unfortunately I have no room to store the car and I have too many other toys to justify keeping it.
This car runs great and has the bucket seat interior with electric windows and a new fully functioning top. It was restored a few years back and has a nice matte black paint job, its a very solid car with no rust holes and only minor surface rust present under the gas tank. The motor is a later model (non roller) 302 with Edelbrock intake and 600 4 barrel carburetor. The transmission is a c-4, 3 speed auto, floor shift. It has an HEI distributor with added chrome valve covers and breather. The car has dual exhaust and the lake pipes are non-functioning.
There are 2 small rock dings in the front window, all other glass is in good shape, the trim and chrome is in good shape for its age with new smoothies and bfg radials. The drum brakes have been gone through and a dual line master cylinder was added for safety. The jambs of the car were left original and the arm rests are the original white color, all other interior pieces are blue and black and show moderate wear. The dash has some cracks but is completely stock, the aftermarket tac, oil pressure, temp and volts gauges are bolt on, as well as the under dash jvc radio. I have the original electric control for the windows, it needs new contacts, currently we are running a temporary control that does not fit the console. There is also a problem with the control switch for the electric top, but it does go up and down smoothly.
Please call if you have questions, 816.916.4253. I will also have the car for sale locally, so if you want to make an offer to "buy it now" I will consider it here in town. We will assist with transportation if need be and have shipped cars overseas, so there should not be any issues as long as communication is maintained and a reasonable time frame is met after purchase. A $500 deposit is required with 48 hours of winning bid. If you choose to use paypal, the fees will need to be covered.
If you want to make a long distance drive home, I don't see any reason why the car would not make it, before my dad passed, we took a long 6 hour road trip together with no problems. If the car sells and you choose to go cross country, you will do this at your own risk as the car is 48 years old. I add this because there is always someone asking if it will "make the trip"
Thanks for looking and happy bidding!

Ford blamed in drug mule lawsuit
Tue, 30 Jul 2013If a college student is caught smuggling drugs across the border, one might think the kid got what was coming to him. But when a Mexican student at the University of Texas in El Paso was caught by Border Patrol agents with duffel bags filled with marijuana in his trunk, the man used a classic excuse: He claimed they weren't his.
While a claim like that is almost unbelievable, Ricardo Magallanes, the student, is now suing Ford for handling its vehicles' key codes negligently enough to allow drug smugglers to break into his Ford Focus and stash the drugs, The Daily Caller reports. The twist here is that four other people who lived in Juarez and worked in El Paso were involved in the same type of scheme - allegedly unwittingly, just like Magallanes - and all the cars were Fords except one model from General Motors. FBI agents also found an employee at a Dallas Ford dealership that had accessed the key codes to all four of the cannabis-stuffed Fords.
While we all may not own Fords, the case still causes us slight paranoia. We'll definitely be checking our trunks before we cross any more international borders.
2015 Ford Mustang fuel economy ratings leaked
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Thinking about buying a new Mustang, but want to know what kind of fuel economy it'll get? Well we have our first indication as the pony-car enthusiasts over at Mustang6G.com have gotten a hold of the Monroney window stickers for a few of the new 2015 Mustang models.
Although the V8 model is not among them, we can now see how the EPA has rated those models with a half dozen pistons or less. The Mustang EcoBoost with the turbo four and a manual transmission has been rated at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway. The V6 manual gets 17 city and 28 highway, while the V6 automatic squeezes out a bit more in the city at 19 mpg but carries the same 28 highway rating.
By way of comparison, the latest Chevy Camaro with the V6 and a stick shift gets the same 17/28 EPA rating as a similarly equipped new 'Stang, and the V6 automatic Camaro gets 18/27 (slightly behind the Ford, but if you opt for the Camaro 2LS with its V6, automatic and 2.92 rear axle ratio, you'll be looking at 19 and 30).
William Clay Ford Sr. dead at 88
Sun, 09 Mar 2014William Clay Ford, retired vice chairman of Ford Motor Company and the last surviving grandchild of company founder Henry Ford, died this morning after a bout with pneumonia. He was 88.
Ford spent 57 years with his grandfather's company, joining the board of directors in 1948 before graduating from college. Ford also held a position as chairman of the design committee, as well as the chairman of the executive committee and vice chairman of the Board of Directors during his tenure with the company. In a 2013 Detroit Free Press story, retired CFO Allan Gilmour said Ford had an eye for design, and was once able to pick out when a fiberglass model of a Ford Contour was asymmetrical, off by an inch on one side. He retired and assumed the position of director emeritus in 2005.
"My father was a great business leader and humanitarian who dedicated his life to the company and the community," said Bill Ford, Jr., Ford's current executive chairman. "He also was a wonderful family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, yet he will continue to inspire us all."
