1971 Ford LTD Convertible

This is a nice car that was last owned by a collector who passed away in South Carolina.  The collector owned the car as the second owner and had the car since 27,000 miles and the car now has 62,000 original miles on it.  This is a very nice driver and has been driven less than 1500 miles per year since new.   Based on service history it looks like the car has only been driven about 2000 miles since the 1990’s so she did sit around for a while.

This car does have the optional 400 V8 engine and the very rare for a convertible factory A/C.  The compressor for the A/C does work but the system is low on R12 and needs to be topped off.  The car goes down the road very nice and starts right every time you turn the key.  Brakes are good and the tires are almost new on the car, the top is also in good condition with no rips or holes in it.  It looks like the original spare tire is still in the trunk and the jack etc. is also present in the trunk.

I have driven this car around for the past year and it’s a fun car but with a 4 and 2 year old I am looking to sell it and buy a hardtop so they don’t get blown away in the rear seat.  The body on the car is nice and straight and the paint is nice with a few blemishes here and there (please see photos).  The car does have a couple small bubbles on the left front fender (see photo) and on the right front fender (again see photo).  The only other bubbles that I have noticed are just behind the convertible top and small amount on the deck lid (again see photos).  The car would probably benefit from a carb rebuild and tune up from sitting but like I said she starts up every time and goes down the road nice.

As I mentioned this is a very nice driver and is well represented at local cruise nights but is not a 100 point show car by any means.  All the chrome is very respectable on the car and like I said the body is straight.  Please feel free to come and look/drive the car prior to bidding so you know exactly what you are buying or email me specific questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.  I hate to see the car go but with the kids right now this one just sits around more than anything else these days.  Car is sold in AS-IS condition.

Ford Fiesta ST orders off to strong start

Fri, 17 May 2013

We at Autoblog love the new little Ford Fiesta ST, and apparently, folks in Europe are pretty impressed with it, as well. According to Ford, the automaker's European arm has already logged 3,000 orders for the new hot hatch since it hit dealerships this March. The US-spec car, which will only be available as a five-door, will go on sale in the United States this summer.
What's perhaps most interesting about the Fiesta ST ordering is that the majority of customers appear to be ordering high-spec cars. According to Ford data, 60 percent of customers have opted for the leather interior with Recaro buckets, and 90 percent have selected the upgraded 17-inch wheels (seen on our test car, above). Spirit Blue has been the most popular color, commanding 27 percent of all orders. As for the technology upgrades, 19 percent of customers have ponied up for the Sony stereo with navigation.
To recap, the Fiesta ST is offered with Ford's 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, putting out 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission. We had an absolute blast flinging the hot Fiesta through the French Alps, and we can't wait for this sharp little hatch to make its way over to the States.

Ford and Chrysler reducing summer plant shutdowns

Wed, 22 May 2013

Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.
Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.
Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.

Ken Block rally cars go blue in the face (and everywhere else)

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Well at least we now know why Ken Block "just ain't care" about smashing up his Ford Fiesta rally car recently. It's because he's getting a full brand makeover including a new team name, new paint scheme and even a new headquarters. Formerly known as Monster World Rally Team, Block and his Fiesta will now be competing under the Hoonigan Racing Division name, which is based out of a new 12,000 square foot facility located in Park City, UT.
As you can tell in the image above, Hoonigan Racing will replace the familiar black, white and green paint scheme with a more colorful design featuring plenty of blue, purple and red; the Monster Energy logo retains some of the car's green. The new paint scheme was inspired by Block's love of skateboard graphics from the '80s and early '90s as well as "Miami Vice-era" speedboats.
Block will continue to compete in multiple rally racing series such as Global RallyCross, World Rally Championship and X Games. The new headquarters features office space on one side and a shop for the cars on the other side. The building features plenty of stuff you'd expect from a company designed around Ken Block, including a massive gaming station for racing video games, recycled shipping containers used throughout the facility and a black bear.
