1928 Ford Model A Phaeton touring car. It is a four door, cream in color with gray pin striping and orange accent. The car is an eye catcher and crowd pleaser. This car is a driver (as opposed to a show car). It has been super reliable for us (it is our personal car) and runs well. The tires all have good tread. The interior is in good condition. The car is an older restoration, it has few nicks in the paint and a little surface rust (too small to see in these pictures) in a couple spots, no dents and no rust through. The top has a patch over the driver area and some pulling off in the back. Honestly, we don’t drive the car if it looks like it will rain (and we did not buy a convertible to drive with the top up), we have never used the top, we just leave it down. The spring in the rear driver side door is broken; a new door latch will be included with the car. The car is fun to drive and always draws a crowd and is a hit in parades. I would not hesitate to take it on a long drive. We are selling it because we are moving to a smaller place and won’t have room for all of our cars. The car has a transferable New York registration ( NY does not issue titles for cars manufactured before 1973, see http://www.dmv.ny.gov/proove.htm ) Naturally because this in an 85 year old car, it is sold “as is, where is” without any warranty. The car is a good driver but in all fairness if you have not owned an antique car before, be aware that all old cars take some tinkering from time to time. The buyer will be responsible for pick-up and any transportation.

Ford taken to task by gov't for Chicken Tax end-around
Mon, 23 Sep 2013Ford is in a bit of a pickle for importing and selling Turkey-built Transit Connect cargo vans as passenger vehicles in the US, then converting them to commercial-vehicle specification stateside in an effort to bypass a 25-percent tax imposed on vehicles imported for commercial use. Automakers are required to pay a 2.5-percent tax on imported passenger vehicles.
The Blue Oval got into trouble for this in a January ruling in which U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials asked Ford to stop the practice of importing the Transit Connect vehicles with passenger seats, then removing and shredding them. Now Automotive News reports that Ford is appealing the ruling. The 25-percent "Chicken Tax," as the tariff is often called, is 50 years old and was enacted as a response to a German tariff on chickens. Like Ford, Chrysler bypasses the higher tariff, but it does so in a different manner. It partially disassembles Sprinter cargo vans before shipping them to the US, then rebuilds them at a plant in South Carolina.
But the ruling against Ford's strategy states that it "serves no manufacturing or commercial purpose" and is there to "manipulate the tariff schedule," Automotive News reports. As Ford's appeal goes through, it is importing the Transit Connect and paying the higher tax, hoping for a favorable outcome and planning to build the next-generation Transit Connect, which it plans to launch before the end of the year, in Spain.

Toyota hangs on to title of world's largest automaker for first half of 2013
Fri, 26 Jul 2013General Motors and Ford can have all the success they please, but it doesn't seem like America's two largest manufacturers are going to topple Toyota in the first half of 2013. According to Reuters, Toyota moved 4.91 million vehicles in the first six months of 2013, representing a 1.1-percent drop from the same period in 2012.
GM is on the rise, though, with a four-percent increase in global sales, to 4.85 million. Volkswagen, still sitting in third, saw a 5.5-percent jump to 4.7 million vehicles in the first half of 2013.
If this pace continues for Toyota, it'll finish 2013 in the top sales spot for the second year in a row. The manufacturer fell to third, behind GM and VW, in 2011 after earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged its production capacity.
