A real popular car to either restore, hot rod or just drive the way it is. This is what a lot of people are looking for. A numbers-matching, running and driving, easy to get parts for, 85-year old car. I bought this a couple of years ago from an estate of a Model T collector. It was the odd-ball in his collection. I put a new 6-volt battery in it and drove it home with not one problem. Since then, I have started another project car which requires money and space. This car is very solid. Odometer showing 17,866 miles. No rust out areas. All glass and wood are very good. Tires are not worn or weathered. Brakes are good. Starts easily. Does not smoke. Has accessory Autolite heater and spare tire cover. Grill shell is reproduction stainless. Headlights are also stainless with sealed beams. All lights work. Windshield tilts as it should. Radiator and water pump do not leak. Top is fairly new. Transmission shifts well. A real fun car to drive. Lots of smiles from everyone. On the negative side, it does need a paint job and interior cloth. The cloth can be ordered as a kit and not too hard to install. All mechanical/metal parts are intact inside, including window trim and seat springs. The front seats are padded and covered, but are not original material. Restoration would be easy while still having a driving car. Can help with loading. Car is locally advertised, so I reserve the right to end auction early. Watch the Hennessey Ford GT makes its record run at Texas Mile
Wed, 27 Mar 2013We said they'd probably be out with an official video, we did not lie. The Hennessey-powered camouflage Ford GT sat at one end of the runway at the Texas Mile sitting still. At the other end of the runway it had broken its own speed record, the twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8 pushing the aerodynamic supercar up to 267.6 miles per hour, a 4.3-mph improvement over the old mark.
There's not much in the video you haven't already seen, this just makes it official. That said, who doesn't want to see a twin-turbo Ford GT set an incredible speed record? You can watch it below.
Ford readying Ranger-based Everest SUV?
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Way back in August, we showed you a Ford concept for the Australian market called the Everest. Now, we can show you that work on the new Ranger-based SUV is well under way.
At this stage, it's still quite clearly a mule (note the misalignment of the front and rear doors), wearing the Ranger's front end and the rump of Ford's overseas Territory crossover. The wheelbase is shorter than a Ranger, according to our spy photographers, which strikes us as somewhat odd for a more passenger-oriented vehicle. Disc brakes should be fitted at all four corners, while the new SUV, which will almost certainly wear the Everest name, should sport a new rear suspension.
In terms of looks, we're expecting the Everest Concept to inform the appearance of the production model. Naturally, there will also be some interior tweaks, particularly around the dashboard, which is covered in these photos.
Ford wins second consecutive Engine of the Year with 1.0L EcoBoost [UPDATE]
Wed, 05 Jun 2013For the second year in a row, Ford has taken top honors in International Engine of the Year voting. As was the case last year, it is Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine that earns the automaker the accolade, achieving the highest-ever accumulated score in the 15 years that the award has been handed out.
A panel of 87 automotive journalists from 35 countries are responsible for choosing the world's best engines, and this is only the third time an automaker has managed back-to-back victories. Voters were impressed by the "Baby EcoBoost" engine's power output - 123 horsepower between 1,400 and 4,500 rpm, 148 pound-feet of torque from 1,400 to 4,000 rpm - and its compact size; Ford has demonstrated that the package is small enough to fit in the overhead bin of a passenger airplane.
Currently, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost is offered in the European Fiesta, B-MAX, Focus, C-MAX and Grand C-MAX, and Ford plans to put the engine in the Transit Connect, Transit Courier, Tourneo Connect, Tourneo Courier, Mondeo and EcoSport in short order. In North America, the Fiesta will be the first vehicle to offer the 1.0L EcoBoost later this year.
