Here's a chance to get your butt into a pretty bad ass, head turning hot rod. My friend, Dylan of the band "Reckless Ones", owns this car and built it years ago. He has had the car for almost 8 years, and has decided its finally time to part with it.  It has been sitting for a couple years while the band toured and he decided he just couldn't give it the time/love this car needs. It has been in multiple car magazines, coffee table book, and even a MUSIC VIDEO!

The car was built to resemble a 50's altered drag sedan, its a 29 ford model A tudor, it has been chopped 6 inches, channeled about 6. It is on a stock but modified (z'd and boxed) frame. The front end consists of a 33-36 ford axle with 40 ford wishbones, and the axle was modified to accept 1954 chevy spindles and brakes. Also on the front are 49-53 chevy rims with coker 560-15 tires (Kasler retreaded pie slit drag slicks on the rear). The rear suspension consists of a 66 olds cutlass 8.2 rear end and trailing arm type suspension with coil springs and tube shocks. The transmission is a th350 that has a stall converter and shift kit.

Now the best part of the whole car, the motor, its a rebuilt 283 with forged pistons and a comp cams camshaft, later model 76 cc heads to lower the compression to a tolerable level for the blower. The heads had hardened seats and bronze liners installed. The motor was bored and completely rebuilt, crank ground, new oil pump timing chain lifters bearings rings, etc etc. The intake is an offenhauser  intake modified to accept a 6-71 blower, the blower had been rebuilt for the street. To top it all off is a vintage and rare weiand 8x2 blower top with 8 holley 94 carbs(modified to fit the intake, it was intended for 97's), the car is running only 4 of the 8 carbs to alleviate some of the trouble!  The car was built about 10 years ago and all mechanical aspects were new, kingpins, tie rod ends, brake lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder etc etc.  The original 283 was weak so the new motor was built 4 or so years ago and doesn't have a huge amount of miles on it (under 1000 miles). The radiator is located at the rear of this car and is a new replacement 70s gm 3 core radiator cooled with two nice large electric fans.

Now i will try and describe some of the issues the car has...... it needs a higher stall converter, it has a 2000 ish stall and could use a 2700-3000 ish stall to make the car much more drive-able. It has 4 carbs, with the 4 carbs it can be finicky... the car was built when Dylan was 20 so he learned a lot so, it might not have the prettiest welds but it will hold together.A month after he finished it he took it on a 800 mile round trip and had very little problems with it. It has never had to do any major work on it to keep it on the road.

After the 2 year slumber he went out charged the battery and it started up and drive it 20 miles to my house, we spend a day on it tidying some stuff up and going over the carbs to get it back up to good running condition. These things take some work, some love (all the time) but that's the cost of having such a different and special car. Care has to be taken with the cooling system to make sure there are no air pockets, he has never had any problems with it overheating except when there was an air pocket.

This is an old car and drives like one. I am 6-2 and Dylan a little shorter, he fits ok but im not very comfortable in the car.  It is what it is.

One more thing, the car is title and registered as a 29 dodge, at the time he bought he car it  was a junkyard body and hadn't had a title nor vin code for many years. He had planned to find a ford title for it but never had the time. If the car were to go overseas we could looking into finding a ford title for it but at the cost of the buyer.

Note: The gauges in the firewall were just mounted but not connected

The shipping costs and arrangements are all the buyers responsibility, I will be here and help with the loading etc etc but that's it. The car could be kept here for a few weeks or but any longer and we'll would have to make arrangements. When purchasing this car a $500 paypal deposit will have to be made with in 48 hours of purchase then we will arrange the rest after that.

Thanks!!

Watch how Ken Block spent his weekend in Barbados

Thu, 22 May 2014

Regardless of what you think of his skill as a racer, Ken Block is an expert showman. At this point, he has a career of showing up around the world to do vehicular stunts, and he's still able to go racing as well. It's a pretty sweet niche to carve out. Recently, Block was in Barbados to participate in Top Gear Live and the first event of the Global Rallycross Championship season, and Ford Racing produced a short video to show off his exploits.
It looked like a great show. Block got to race Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes-Benz Formula One car and had a very weird crash during a Rallycross race that put his Ford Fiesta on its roof. Top Gear also released an extended look at Block and Hamilton's spectacle with the two of them expertly sliding around. Scroll down to watch the videos and get a taste of Block's tropical racing adventure.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.

This Or That: Fiat 500 Abarth vs. Ford Fiesta ST [w/poll]

They're pretty darn similar. And yet our views are oh so different.
If you guys could read the transcripts of our editors' chat room, you'd know that we're a pretty argumentative bunch. It's always good-spirited stuff (well, usually), but when we're not obsessively covering this or that, we're usually fighting about one car being better than another. We're all enthusiasts here, and our automotive tastes run the gamut from the weird and unusual to the decidedly mainstream - we all feel strongly about specific cars in a given segment. While it usually makes for good conversation, if we're passionate enough, it can turn into a tomato-throwing showdown.
