The Sport Coupe, Type 50-B, is for many the most desirable of all the Model A Coupes.  With their signature non-folding padded tops and Landau irons, these cars are generally considered sportier and fancier than all other coupes.  They have the outward appearance of the Cabriolet but the cozy comforts of the coupe.  The front  and back windows open, but the top doesn't fold down.

This car was recently given a full body-off restoration.  It is finished in a deep maroon with black fenders and a very complimentary tan whipcord padded top.  The new whitewall tires on refinished red spoke wheels are mounted on new cast iron brake drums and help complete the fresh new look.

This restoration is high quality.  The undercarriage and frame are newly powdercoated.  Every component received some form of attention, either being replaced with new or rebuilt.  Examples include the steering, brakes, shocks, muffler and battery.  The engine was rebuilt and received a new clutch and alternator.  The headlight bulbs have been upgraded to halogen.

The body was stripped and received a complete respray.  The upholstery, all new as well, is in the period correct materials and colors.  Most of the chrome has been redone.

There are several accessories that add to the coupe's attraction.  Included are cowl lights, dual rear view mirrors, step plates, quail radiator cap, dash light, right rear tail light and, of course, a restorable vintage Colorado license plate.

If you are looking for a stunning, as new Model A Coupe which stands out above most others, please consider this one.  For more details please call Dick at 630-842-5475 (cell).

Ford could post best-ever profits in Q1 2013

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Analysts are saying that Ford Motor Company may have earned a record $2.7 billion pretax profit in North America during the first quarter of 2013, a number that represents its highest first quarter profit ever. The impressive earnings are further proof that the American automaker is making a solid comeback as the economy begins to recover.
Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan Chase are estimating that Ford's first quarter North American profit may have topped 12 percent. The firm cited the automaker's fresh lineup, but noted that CEO Alan Mulally needs to uphold the pace as the company works to gain ground in the car and utility segments.
Ford's success has been led by increased demand for its F-Series pickup, the best-selling vehicle in the US for 31 years, and by the Fusion sedan that recently recorded its best-ever quarterly sales in the domestic market. Ford is expected to release its first-quarter revenue on Wednesday, of this week.

EPA says fuel economy test for hybrids is accurate

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

The EPA says it stands behind its fuel economy test for hybrid vehicles following controversy about the testing process after Ford C-Max Hybrid customers and automotive journalists alike struggled to achieve 47 miles per gallon, the advertised mpg number, Automotive News reports. Ford responded to the issue almost two weeks ago by claiming that a 1970s-era EPA general label rule was responsible for the inaccurate mileage numbers, rerating the C-Max Hybrid's mpg numbers and offering customers rebates. Ford later said it didn't overstate the C-Max Hybrid's fuel economy and that it was surprised by the low numbers.
Ford technically didn't do anything wrong because it was following the general label rule, but agency regulator Christopher Grundler says the automaker was exploiting a loophole when it came up with the hybrid C-Max numbers, and that the testing process remains accurate. The general label rule allows vehicles that use the same engine and transmission and are in the same weight class to share fuel economy numbers, but it doesn't take into account other factors such as aerodynamic efficiency, which affects hybrids more drastically than non-hybrid vehicles. Ford originally used the Fusion Hybrid economy figures for the C-Max Hybrid and claimed the engineers didn't realize that its aerodynamic efficiency would affect fuel economy as much as it did.

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.
