1930 Ford Roadster Hotrod (original Henry Ford Steel, Like 1932) - No Reserve on 2040-cars

Year:1930 Mileage:1000
Location:

NO RESERVE PRIVATE AUCTION
2009 Grand National Roadster Show - Suede Palace Trophy winner ('Best Rod - Ruiz Pick'). Opening night (big annual event) El Cajon, CA, Classic Car winner. Note: trophies come with car.

Vintage 50 year old hotrod that began life as a 1930 coupe converted to a roadster in the late 50's / early 60's. Comes with some old pictures, articles, and trophies as well as contact information to reach the original builder's family in Kansas - some famous ownership. Comes with early NHRA badge. Many vintage parts on car. Buggy type suspension with front drop axle, rear longitudinal springs. 352 Packard V8 had around 275-315hp stock. Transmission is also Packard and works well. I have enjoyed this car very much, but have decided to put my energy into a new project. Merry Christmas! Hope the best person wins it.

A local San Diego hotrod shop has done the following work:
Body was taken off frame 3 weeks ago and stripped to bare metal - mostly rust-free, with only a few small areas of rot (see pictures). Note body was once a coupe but was converted 50+ years ago. Engine was also dismantled weeks ago to put in new seals, but it was discovered that there was a repaired crack in the block (352 Packard V8). The repair was made with JB weld epoxy it is believed. The crack is not in a critical location and so it could be put back together as-is (ran well before) or you could have the block welded or replaced. Hotrod shop will put the engine back together for $250 or put the whole car back together for $1500 to 2000. They will also load the car on a trailer if preferred (car is still at hotrod shop.)

NHTSA closes Ford F-Series Super Duty steering probe without recall

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation into 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, which was originally opened last year, has now ended without a recall. NHTSA was looking into steering failures on some 336,000 trucks.
The issue rested with the steering gear - NHTSA received five complaints of failures - which was redesigned in 2005. According to the report on the matter, investigators "found evidence of broken sector shaft gear teeth and piston damage consistent with incidents of single event overload."
NHTSA investigators, however, "found no evidence of fatigue or material property defects in any of the fractures. Analysis of complaint rates by vehicle build month showed no patterns indicating potential manufacturing quality issues and no difference before and after Ford introduced design changes to the input shaft and sector shaft seals in July 2007 to address potential leak concerns," according to the report, obtained by The Detroit News.

Ford Q1 profits dragged down by warranty costs

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

General Motors isn't the only Detroit automaker posting falling profits in the first quarter. Ford just released its Q1 2014 financial data, and it reported a net income of $989 million, down $622 million from Q1 2013. The drop is partially blamed on higher warranty and recall expenses than the company had anticipated.
Financially, Ford suffered a rough quarter almost across the board. Its pre-tax profit of $1.4 billion was also down $765 million from a year ago. Things were even worse in the North American market where operating profit fell significantly to $1.5 billion, down from $2.392 billion in Q1 2013. However, its global revenue ticked up slightly to $35.9 billion, from $35.6 billion in this period in 2013.
Ford admitted that it spent about $900 million on expenses that it hadn't planned for during this quarter. According to Reuters, the company paid about $400 million in additional warranty and recall costs in North America. The automaker didn't explain why the costs were so much higher than expected. However, in the last three months, Ford has had several recalls, including on the 2001-2004 Escape for rust, Explorer for its steering, Edge for its fuel line and others.

2015 Ford Mustang revs it up at Cars & Coffee

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

Just because the new 2015 Ford Mustang has officially been released, you didn't think that would be the end of the matter - did you? Of course not. There'll still be plenty of rumors, reports and video footage to bring you. Like this, the first non-official footage of the new pony car in the wild.
Shot by YouTube user SotA1080 and dug up by our friends at CarBuzz, this clip shows the new Mustang posing for photos (alongside other Mustangs) and starting up its engine at the most recent gathering of Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA. And this being the GT model, it's not packing the V6 or the turbo four, but the red-blooded 5.0-liter V8 that tells us and enthusiasts worldwide that the new Mustang has not lost its way. Scroll on down to watch the footage for yourself.
