Sorry for cancelling auction last week, had a conflict with of end of auction time.

Answer, Yes engine is original , numbers matching, Yes bed is original but have no idea if Ford built their own beds!

Time to sell my 1930 AA 1 1/2  ton dually flat bed / stake bed truck, truck is in show condition, she is beautiful and clean not to mention all original. I am the third owner, I have talked to the original owners son so I know first hand about the trucks history. The entire truck was re-done by the son and a good friend who became the second owner, they did a beautiful job along with a good body/paint shop in Newport Oregon. The tow rig was installed by me just for fun, I love the way it looks and few know it is not a 1930 setup, all the lights and siren work, the winch is not connected to the truck, the rig is just for show, the trany does have a position for a power takeoff so the rig could be made to operate if wanted. since I installed the tow rig the truck draws allot more attention on the road and at the one car show I go to every other year. The entire rig is connected to the flat bed with four bolts and one seven pin trailer plug, all controls for the rig are located on front lower panel of the seat (drivers side). I have a lift bar that connects to the rig via a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver with a hitch pin, the top of the lift bar has two fork pockets that a fork truck can use to lift the rig off truck ( I have a fork truck) the pockets can also be used for a rope or cable to lift off rig using a  tree branch or A frame, two 6 inch steel wheels attach to rig and once on ground the rig can be rolled around like a hand truck by holding the end of the rigs boom, very easy to move around and takes up little floor space. Total time to remove rig is about five minutes and not much more to re-install, receiving bracket for rig stays bolted to bed of truck, the rig just sits into corner of bracket, this will align the four mounting holes, bolts screw into tapped holes on rig, all done standing next to truck, you do have to lay under side of truck to plug the connector for the lights into the socket mounted under back of cab. The rig is powder coated and all redone nice, most lights are new , siren screams and the lights are on flashes that flash lights, and I have installed a directional switch under seat so top of boom lights can work as directionals when wanted. The rig is a Ortez rig that is made real nice and weighs about 1100 lbs.. When I remove tow rig I have a large antique travel trunk that fits in mounting bracket for rig, this trunk is included with sale. There are two full antique fire extinguishers on rig.

All tires are like new including spare, all were replaced at same time, real low mileage on tires and truck since restoration was done. I have a complete stainless steel hardware set for putting together a rack body for truck, I also have the stakes and brackets for the rack, I have never unwrapped all the stakes provided to me by previous owner  and the one I did unwrap was all painted and original, not sure if all stakes are painted, will unwrap soon to confirm. I believe all that is needed is the boards and a drill. The bed is oak with all new electro- polished stainless strips and stainless hardware, bed spacer looks like western slow growth pine.

The truck runs, shifts and stops as a 1930 truck should, interior is great and the exterior is damn near perfect in my opionion, I am a member of the Hudson valley MARC club, Model A Restorers Club, our members tell me it is a great example of a properly restored AA, and it is rare that a 1 1/2 ton truck is done to this quality level, I am told allot of trucks are cobbled together from multiple trucks, all fenders doors frame etc are from the original truck according to the original owner. The gold name on the doors is from previous owner, it was done so nice I opted to leave the lettering in place, it brightens up the side of the truck. I have lots of spare parts for the truck and all are included with the truck.

The tow rig is 116 inches from top of boom to floor, the boom angle can be lowered by rotating the ratchet gears on each side of the rigs frame, I do not know how low it goes I adjusted it to the angle I wanted (end of boom matches end of truck) prior to powder coating.

If tow rig is not wanted by winning bidder  for any reason I will reduce  price by  500 dollars (cost me allot more then that ), I will try to sell it locally .

Depending on distance from zip 12561 and timing I may be able to provide shipping at a fair price to your location, I have a new open car trailer that will handle the truck on order.

Items of interest, I installed brand new 3 point inertia seat belts for driver and passenger, they are hardly noticeable and provide a HUGE safety factor to a 1930 vehicle (sorry no air bags or anti-lock brakes). Engine has a expensive no lube stainless steel water pump that uses two modern lip seals, seals were replaced last year, seals areinexpensive and easy to replace, had about 10 years on them before I replaced them, comes with new spare seals. I installed a stainless steel thermostat assembly in water hose, came with truck, some say remove it others say leave it in, MARC members like everything stock, but all safety mods are OK. I have wiper motor and wiper but never installed it, I would never go out in the rain with the truck. The truck has the highway gears in rear, 512 comes to mind but not positive of ratio, truck cruises at 40 MPH with ease, will do 55 (I did it once just to see the speed in a police radar display) but 35 to 45 is a more realistic normal speed, last weekend I took what was supposed to be a 10 minutes test ride to see that all was well, I drive it infrequently, 3 hours later I returned home, perfect day for a long  cruise.   For the record the engine was of coarse rebuilt during restoration, it runs perfect and burns no oil and has no visible blow by, no hoses hanging on fill tube to direct blow-by under vehicle. The trucks frame is in better condition then any I have ever seen, most of it looks like new, all 1 1/2 ton trucks came with a large 4 speed trany and a much larger radiator then a car or pickup, you can not swap the trany to a 3 speed without a new 4 speed bell housing and allot of work and parts, all is correct on this truck.

Note, although this truck has been restored, it was never a rusted piece of junk from behind a barn, it has been stored inside the barn since the late thirties, the son removed it from this fathers barn at the time of his fathers passing, he had it shipped from South Dakota to Oregon to his home where the restoration took place. The truck was a farm truck from 1930 till retirement in 1938.

Please ask questions before bidding, Sorry for the long description but I like to get all the information I can get when I am going to buy something, I assume others feel the same way.

Yes you can come inspect truck, and I recommend it prior to bidding, test rides given, I will drive until the check clears.

I have more pictures and am happy to send them if needed, send me a note, will send if you can send me a address.

Ford issues four recalls covering 163k vehicles

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

Recalls! 2014 will be forever remembered as the year that automakers went recall crazy, with millions and millions of vehicles adding up to crush previous recall records well before the end of the year. Adding to that tally is Ford, which announced a call-back for 163,000 vehicles.
Leading that charge are the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder engines of the Ford Focus ST and Ford Escape. 160,000 of the 2013 and 2014 models have bad wiring harnesses that can disrupt the signals traveling to the powertrain control module. That, in turn, could lead to a check engine light, reduced power and stalling. Notably, Ford hasn't recalled any other vehicles that feature the 2.0 EcoBoost, such as the Fusion, Taurus or Explorer.
While the Focus ST and Escape constitute the vast majority of recalled vehicles, they aren't the only problem children in the Ford family. 1,300 Transit passenger vans from model year 2015 were recalled due to brake fluid leaks, while another 600 Transit cargo variants were recalled after Ford discovered the windowless sliding doors could come open in the event of a side-impact crash. Dealers will replace the sealing washers on the passenger variants and add a reinforcement plate on the cargo models, The Detroit News reports.

Honda giving away free Civics in Forza Horizon to celebrate launch

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Just a friendly reminder from Honda: The Honda Challenge Pack DLC is now available for Forza Horizon. To reward you for the trouble of pressing a few buttons on your Xbox controller, you'll get the 2013 Honda Civic Coupe, an HPD Rally Fit and a 1986 Honda Civic Si Coupe in your garage, and you'll get them free. The event of the new DLC has also kicked off a photo contest that will reward someone with an Xbox 360 console wrapped in a Honda Civic Si theme.
Otherwise, the word "Challenge" keeps coming up because of the chance to run an online race against IndyCar driver Scott Dixon. The track for that digital throwdown has already been decided by Xbox players who voted before January 8. Yet it's not too late to hop into the Honda section in Xbox Live and lay down a time fast enough for a shot at the title "The Driver That Shellacked Scott Dixon," and meeting the man in person.
Check out the press release from Honda below, and the sweetness that is the 1986 Civic Si in the gallery above.

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
