1931 Ford Model A Hot Rod Rat Rod Project Chopped Channeled Low Custom Sedan on 2040-cars
New Philadelphia, Ohio, United States
1931 ford project. started out as a rust free cowl, front doors, and rear section from a four door. I didnt have the rear doors so i bought a set of 2 door sedan quarter panels from nebraska. This sedan is one of a kind(as far as i know, anyway) because the body is half murray and half briggs. note the small amount of metal behind the rear window as apposed to a normal model A sedan. Ive been building this car in my spare time for the last year in between other projects. Car has a rebuilt and perfect running flathead 6 out of a 1950 ford f1 matching 3 speed transmission has also been rebuiltis both by previous owner. rebuilt ford 9in rearend and 5 21inch modelA wire wheels all with brand new 0mile tires on them, theyve only been used to move the car in and out of the garage. chopped 4 inches and channeled 4 inches it sits pretty low. sectioned 1955 studebaker president dash. Doors open and latch nicely thanks to studebaker latches. steering wheel and seats are out of an antique boat, steering box is out of an old chevy truck it is sloppy but it does steer the car fairly well. lots of new speedway motor parts including front and rear springs, struts, bushings and shackles. Real modelA headlights and grill. This is a project and will need some time and money invested to get it on the road. The car will need all the wiring done: motor, headlights, dash, taillights etc. car will also need a complete brake system: master cylinder, brake lines, rear drums and shoes(see last photo), and shoes for the front, will need a radiator and glass. I have NO TITLE for this car but will provide a bill of sale. There is a clearance issue with the shifter/dash as seen in the pics. If you live close feel free to email me and set up a time to view it before bidding. I highly recommend viewing it in person to appreciate all the custom work that has been done. I wish i could finish this car but i have too many other projects and very little free time. Feel free to email me any questions or send me your cell number if you want to see a photo of anything specific.thanks for looking. buyer is responsible for shipping. i will gladly help load the car.

Are you a new Ford Mustang SVO? [w/video]
Fri, 16 May 2014When Ford announced that its 2015 Mustang would arrive with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, three letters came to mind: SVO. While Ford hasn't said a word regarding the rebirth of a Mustang SVO model, this latest set of spy shots shows us something very, very interesting. Allow us to explain.
The Mustang prototype in these photos looks very similar to the GT500 test cars we've spotted before - same bulging hood, aggressive front fascia and air vents aft of the front wheels. What's different, however, is around back. Have a look at the exhaust, and note that instead of the GT500's usual quad pipes, two of the exhaust outlets have been capped off.
Our spies point out that these exhaust outlets could be closed for some sort of emissions testing or another engineering reason, but it's also important to note that the engine and exhaust notes of this car sound completely different from earlier GT500 prototypes. We've got a video below that compares the two.
Jay Leno is far beyond driven in his 1971 Pantera
Mon, 23 Jun 2014Perhaps it's fitting that the band Pantera is known for its heavy metal music, because the DeTomaso Pantera is the automotive equivalent of a metal album. It's short, aggressive and makes a mean sound. It doesn't mess around either, with a Ford 351-cubic-inch (5.75-liter) V8 sending mountains of torque to the rear wheels. This week, Jay Leno takes us on a detailed tour of his '71 to show why it rocks.
There's a regular format to Jay Leno's Garage. It starts with Jay and maybe a guest taking a look at the car and talking about its history, and then they take it out on the open road. However, this video is practically a Pantera buyer's guide. Jay is adamant from the start that the last thing anyone should own is a stock example. To remedy this, he and his guest, the editor of the Pantera Club magazine, take viewers to school about some of the ways to turn them into even better performance machines.
No matter what you do to it, though, the Pantera requires that the driver adapt to it, not the other way around. For example, Jay isn't a big guy by most standards, but he has to cram himself into the cockpit with his shoes off and shirt partially unbuttoned just to go for a drive. Still, once out on the road, it all makes sense with that rumbling V8 and those Italian supercar looks. Scroll down to watch and learn a lot more about this uncompromising '70s performance car.
Ford profits soar as problems mount
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Ford is doing well. It can't make enough examples of its new Fusion, it can barely make enough of the aging F-150, it's getting good brand rankings, people like its turnaround story, it's selling oodles of product and its quarterly profit numbers end in the word "billion." As other high-flying examples have demonstrated over the past few years, though, big numbers can come with problems that aren't exactly small.
Automotive News has published a good "nutshell" report of Ford's progress and problems. The Dearborn automaker's optimistic "general label rule" determination of gas mileage for the C-Max Hybrid has led to lawsuits, hybrid software updates, a downward revision of C-Max fuel economy and millions in rebates. AN notes the C-Max was the "worst-scoring model in this year's J.D. Power Initial Quality Study," but Ford will probably be happy that it managed not to be mentioned further in the study's results after last year's mediocre showing. Its MyTouch and SYNC systems, the bugbears sabotaging Ford's J.D. Power results, have also led to lawsuits, software updates, more software updates and a center console rethink. On top of that, the 1.6-liter EcoBoost in the 2013 Ford Escape that Ford called a "hero" was soon catching fire for three different reasons. And let's not even get into the troubled launch of the Lincoln MKZ.
The Automotive News piece notes that industry observers have been surprised at Ford's stumbles because everything has been looking so good. Nevertheless, there is still the issue of those billions in profits - the company is doing plenty of things, plural, right. Ford says it is tackling its problems, hiring engineers and instituting new quality control processes as part of its effort to find solutions. The test will be to see if in a year from now we begin the discussion of these issues with "Remember when Ford...", or "Problems continue at The Blue Oval."
