1931 Model A roadster highboy project with a "B" motor. I just bought an unexpected project so I decided that I have to sell my prewar/ postwar stripped down roadster project. This car is about 80% done and will not take much to finish. This is a late 31' deluxe roadster titled in my name and registered to the number on it's super clean original chassis. I pulled the body and had the bare frame sandblasted and etch primed and painted black along with all the other suspension parts. The front suspension has a stock wishbone, Okie Joe 4" dropped A axle, 37-41 round back spindles, 40' juice brakes, 40' lever shocks. Stock A steering box, pitman arm, and wheel.
Rear suspension is original A banjo with 40' Juice brakes, original A spring reversed and 3 leafs removed, stock radius rods and torque tube. 40' lever shocks.
All the suspension parts have been cleaned and all wear items and hardware replaced if needed.
B motor was a running take out from a mint B chassis. I took the pan off and shimmed the Babbitt with plastigauge and checked everything. Custom header and downdraft intake made with WAC custom flanges. Ultra rare Simmons Super Power Head, and Thomas finned valve cover. Nice Ford 94 carb. Stock B head and water pump is also available. Stock A trans and flywheel housing.
Wheels and tires are 16 X 4 steel wheels on all 4 corners with like new 4.50-16 firestone deluxe champions on the front and New 7.00-16 firestone Deluxe champions on the rear. I will be glad to sell the car less wheels and tires.
The Body is a nice original body that looks to have never had any exterior patch panels. The subrails are really nice. The wheel wells need to be replaced and there has been patch work on the rear floors. The Rumble lid and doors are really nice with very minimal work to fix. I have the deluxe top irons, wood bows, and back glass.
Car needs to have the brakes gone thru, master cyl mounted, brakes plumbed, wiring, radiator checked, etc
I have a lot of new parts for the car and I am sure I am forgetting a lot of details so please call me for more info.

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.

Detroit automakers gain market share simultaneously for first time in 20 years

Wed, 01 May 2013

While monthly sales figures might be an easy way of tracking the progression of the auto industry and individual automakers, looking at market share might be more indicative of how each company is actually standing up against its competitors. For the Detroit Three automakers, they have collectively lost almost 30 percent of the market over the last 20 years, but now, for the first time since 1993, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler have each posted market share gains at the same time.
According to Automotive News, Ford's share increased the most by 0.7 percent, GM was up 0.5 percent and Chrysler rose marginally by 0.2 percent, giving the Detroit automakers a total market share of 45.6 percent. As for the Japan's Big Three, the article reports that Toyota is up by 0.7 percent, Nissan is down the same amount and Honda has seen "little change."

Next Ford Raptor spotted wearing aluminum skin

Wed, 07 May 2014

Well, look at what we have here. Judging from these spy shots, Ford is indeed working on the next generation of its off-road-ready F-150 Raptor pickup truck. We've made no attempt to hide our appreciation for the Baja-style truck, which combines most of the usability of a fullsize truck with heavy-duty suspension components to make a kind of performance vehicle that is unique in the market.
What we haven't known, until now, is whether Ford would push forward with its Raptor program now that it has a completely new F-150 to serve as its base. And that's especially true since Ford made the bold move of switching the bodywork of its best-seller from tried-and-true steel to aluminum. As you can see above, the front and rear of this silver truck are clad in current-gen Raptor bodywork, while the center section that houses the occupants appears to come from the upcoming 2015 F-150.
Dissecting the views above, we note a few interesting tidbits. First, there looks to be a bulge in the truck's hood. Second, we see a new grille between the current Raptor's headlights, sporting a mesh finish and two horizontal bars. Lastly, our eyes can't help but lock in on those burly A-arm suspension pieces down below, not to mention all that ground clearance the specialty suspenders bring to the table.
