You are bidding on a late 1931 Model A rumble seat coupe with the indented firewall. This car has been a labor of love for me since 2001, but now it is time to pass it on to someone who will give it the care I have. This is not a show car,but a very nice driver. (Should do well in local shows.) I am a retired mechanic, and I have done a complete ground up on this car. The paint job is not perfect but I did my best, and over time it has gotten some chips and scratches. Now the bad. Left front fender has the normal crack about 2" long. Rear fenders are glass but I will include a pair of steel ones. Rumble lid is glass. King pins are a little loose, but not to the point of creating a problem, and I will include a set of spindles fitted with new pins and ready to install. Rear shocks have not been installed, but have been reconditioned and are ready to install.  Odometer rolled up 19.9 miles and quit. Speedometer works fine. Now the good. Everything in the engine is new except the cam and crank shaft. Still running standard crank. Bored + 60.  Model B distributor,  6V alternator, Oil filter,   Lightened flywheel with a V8 clutch.  Has turn signals. This car drives and stops well. No reserve so high bidder will get this car. I want a $500 deposit at end of auction thru Pay Pal, and balance in cash or bank check at time of pickup. Any other forms of payment must be agreed to by me. Sold as is where is. Shipping is up to buyer to arrange, but I will help with loading.

Project Ugly Horse: Part IX

One Step at a Time
Nearly every flavor of exotic driveline has been shoved into the ubiquitous Ford at some point or another.
Chuck Schwynoch had been patiently listening to my ramblings on the other end of the phone for a solid half hour. I'm not too big of a man to know when to ask for help, and at this point, I desperately needed some assistance. The truth is, working on a machine like a Fox Body Mustang is as easy as breathing thanks to the wealth of information available on the web. Nearly every flavor of exotic driveline has been shoved into the ubiquitous Ford at some point or another, and odds are the sorry souls behind those builds shared the highs and lows of their torment with the internet community.

Toyota fears supplier pressure in Australia with GM pull out

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

With Ford and General Motors both announcing an end to production in Australia, the country's auto industry is in a bad way. With the exit of two big players, there's increased concern that a third Australian manufacturer, Toyota, will be forced out, as well.
"We are saddened to learn of GM Holden's decision. This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia," Toyota Australia said in a statement. The GM closure of Holden production will be the direct end to 2,900 jobs, but will also force a dramatic reduction in the size of the country's supplier network, as there will simply be fewer cars to build.
In the same statement, Toyota Australia said it would work with suppliers and local government to figure out whether continuing production Down Under was even feasible. According to Automotive News, a representative for the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union told reporters it was "highly likely" that Toyota would also close up shop within the next few years.

Court puts kibosh on apartheid lawsuit against Ford, Daimler

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Ford and Daimler have scored a major victory in a long-running lawsuit filed in US federal court by unnamed South African nationals. The suit alleges that both manufacturers and their subsidiaries sold their vehicles to the South African military, despite knowing that they'd be involved in violently putting down anti-apartheid protesters.
According to Reuters, South African plaintiffs filed the case under the 223-year-old Alien Torts Statute, a law which allows foreign nationals to file charges in US courts for perceived breaches of what was originally international law, but now more closely relates to violations of human rights.
And while the case - which also involves computer manufacturer IBM - has been tied up in federal courts for years, a recent case from the Supreme Court struck down a similar suit against Royal Dutch Petroleum (Shell), arguing that the ATS doesn't apply to corporations or to conduct if it occurred outside the US. In short, the law applies to individuals, but not corporations like Ford or Daimler. A US appeals court ruled that the conditions apply in this case, potentially drawing this long-running saga to a close, as the defendants will now be allowed to request that the case be dismissed in district court.
