Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster 1931 on 2040-cars

I purchased this beauty from an antique car collector through an Ebay auction in 2008.  The seller had the car restored by a professional restorer a short time prior to my purchase.  The restoration was a complete frame-off endeavor.  The vehicle had 9 miles on the odometer and presently has 173.  I have kept it in my climate controlled garage.......and have only driven it a few miles every few months to keep things lubricated and "exercised."  I purchased the car hoping that my wife and I could take it to car shows and enjoy participating in parades, and such.  However, my wife was diagnosed with cancer shortly after the purchase and passed away a year later.  As a result, I have lost interest.  The car starts and runs great and everything works fine.  It should........it's only been driven 173 miles since restoration!  It has two side mounts, a trunk rack and trunk, a "boot" to put over the convertible top when it is in the open position and an original spotlight.  (The previous owner told me he paid around 2K just for the spotlight).  There is one tiny scratch in the paint.......located just below the rumble seat handle.....which can be seen in one of the photos.  Other than that, I can find no other flaws.  My reserve price is far less than what I paid.  Good luck!

If you are unable to personally inspect the car prior to bidding, you might consider having someone knowledgeable to do so.  I would ask the winning bidder to give me a deposit of $1000. to hold the vehicle until a personal inspection can be made......and, if the car is not as described, would return the deposit (minus EBay's fee).  I am a private seller, so I don't do credit cards or paypal.  Please contact me with any questions you may have.

The following ad was placed on Ebay by the previous owner in 2008.

This wonderful Model A received a complete, frame off, professional restoration a few years ago to it's original fresh from the factory condition. Nothing was overlooked in returning this classic to perhaps better than it would have been if you bought it new off the factory assembly line.  One just like this recently sold at the Kruse  auction last fall for $50,000 plus the 8%fees. This is a rare opportunity to buy a nicer example at a fraction of that. If you have watched these cars, you already know what great investments they are. There are only a few in the world this nice. All photos in this ad were taken within the last 30 days. The car actually looks better than in the photos.

The car was perfectly restored by the well know ford restorer Gerald & Son. It has been driven only 18 miles since the restoration. This is a Pebble Beach quality car. I doubt you would ever find a nicer example of the great classic. It is finished in the original Washington/Riveria Blue with Tacoma Cream wheels and LeBaron-Bonney interior and top with a tan & brown leather interior. It has the period correct leather covered trunk, rare dual side mounts with polished stainless steel covers and mirrors, etched glass wind wings, quail radiator cap and stainless steel stone guard. It also features the very rare sport light, spotlight

Watch this lead sled go rallying in Finland

Thu, 19 Jun 2014

Custom cars generally fit into neat little boxes in terms of how they are used. For example, you're unlikely to see a modded Corvette going rock crawling; it's just not what it's made for (though we bet it'd look awesome, for a minute). In the same way, chopped, channeled and customized '50s hot rods aren't really meant to go racing. They look great and go fast, but they are generally more cruisers than sports cars.
However, if this video is any indication, the people of Finland don't adhere in these stereotypes, because this rodder is happy to play in the dirt with his lead sled.
According to the video, the driver is a member of the Ford-Freak Club of Finland, and he clearly knows how to have some fun. Possibly inspired by his country's great rally drivers, he gets the tail way out going around this gently curving gravel track. The stunt is somewhat reminiscent of the stock cars races on the sand at Daytona Beach, and this is probably close to what it sounded like too. Scroll down to watch a very cool Finn getting his hot rod a little dirty.

Crowdsource funding push on to save historic Ford buildings

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Detroit has no shortage of old, abandoned buildings, both within the city and in the surrounding communities. Few, though, have the historical significance of the old Ford Highland Park facility. Home to the very first moving assembly line, Highland Park was designed by the legendary Albert Kahn, and was one of the homes of the Model T.
Now, the Woodward Avenue Action Association is attempting to buy both the 40,000-square-foot admin building, which is located off the historic Woodward Avenue, and an 8,000-square-foot garage. The WAAA's goal is to convert the buildings into an automotive heritage center. The Detroit News spoke to the interim director of the WAAA, Deborah Schutt, who commented, "[Metro Detroit has] not been very good at telling our own story. So we've decided, let's pull everything together and tell our story."
The WAAA made an offer of $550,000 to buy the two buildings, and has $400,000 from the Michigan Department of Transportation and another $15,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. It's trying to raise a further $125,000 through crowd-sourcing, starting a campaign called "Five Dollars A Day," after old Hank Ford's $5-per-day wage for line workers.

GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.
