This is a Model T Ford, 1926, with many original parts and some updated ones.  Original:  the engine (works perfectly), the generator (rebuilt in 2013, including new winding), the transmission (new Kevlar bands in 2012), the starter, the rear end (completely rebuilt in 2012 including new axle rods), the parking brakes, the headlights, and the exterior (with actual "Ford" fenders, somewhat rusted in places).  Some parts are updated using the various cottage industries that surround the Model T world: rear disc brakes (which cause the machine to stop on a dime, in forward and reverse), electronic coil and timer (new in 2012).  Then there are some parts that have landed on the car with no particular authenticity: a seat (which comes in and out, is very comfortable, no seat belts), a box on the starboard running board (which contains many original Model T wrenches, included, and has a working lock), a Klaxton horn (which isn't working right now but was sounding really great, in the old "aooga" style), a ship's bell on a bench (you can remove that easily if you like).  Yes, basically this is a great platform for you to build it out in the direction you like (easily leaning to rat rod).  Mechanically, it is in really great shape: starts, runs, changes gears, drives up and down hills, stops.  I've put a lot of work into it and am selling at a loss, of course.  Feel free to ask questions!

Of course there is no warranty.  It is sold as is.  I'll do my best to describe any part of it that interests you.  Local pick up (I'm happy to work with your shipper).

How the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor became a reality

Wed, 01 May 2013

The camouflaged Ford F-150 SVT Raptor prototype captured above blazing its way across the desert during a test run left company engineers giggling in amazement, reveals Jamal Hameedi in a new Autoweek video. Ford's global performance vehicle chief engineer, accompanied by senior exterior designer Bruce Williams, sat down with the publication to discuss the concept and development of the automaker's super off-road F-150.
Designing a high-performance pickup in 2008, right when the cost of gasoline was going through the roof, seemed insane at the time, but the team pushed forward with the innovative vehicle regardless. The interview includes plenty of Ford B-roll footage as visual candy, and the conversations include discussions about exterior design, ride comfort, anti-lock brake tuning, suspension engineering, weight reduction and why it was necessary to make the Raptor visually different than Ford's standard F-150. The model's origin story is very interesting, and you can learn more about it by watching the video below.

Toyota sells six of 10 of hybrids in California

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

In an apparent shot back at Ford's increasing market share of electrified vehicles and claim that it accepts more Prius trade-ins for its own hybrids than any other car, Toyota has flexed a muscle and played the numbers game to put the Blue Oval in its place.
Leaning on its hybrid market dominance in California, the Japanese automaker stated that six out of 10 hybrids sold in the Golden State are Toyota models. And it keeps coming: Year-to-date through May 2013, Toyota sold five times more hybrids than Ford. One of every two hybrids in California is a Prius model. In addition, Toyota notes that it has sold 1.5 million Prius vehicles in the US, 90-percent of which are still on the road today.
Want more? We'll let Bill Fay, Toyota's group vice president and general manager of sales lay the smack down:

Ford Transit Skyliner Concept is a Gulfstream for the road

Sat, 12 Apr 2014

If you are afraid to fly or just want to arrive at your ultimate destination in absolute comfort, then the Ford Transit Skyliner concept might be the perfect vehicle for you. Built by Galpin Auto Sports and based on a 2015 Transit, the van is basically a private jet on wheels. It even has a touch of Transformers about it with the ability to switch between four modes by pressing a button in a smartphone app.
Based on the long wheelbase, high-roof model with 487 cubic feet of cargo space and 6 feet, 9.5 inches of interior height, the Skyliner has movable captains chairs that shift around among four modes. In theater mode, the seats turn and recline to face a 52-inch retractable movie screen with 7.2 surround sound. For business, a motorized table unfolds, and the chairs gather around it. There is a mode for tailgating where the door opens four-feet wide, and, when traveling, passengers can recline back with footrests that extend for maximum comfort.
To make the ride even plusher, there is a satellite and media server to meet your entertainment needs, and there is even a built-in bar in the back. If this Ford had a bathroom, you could live in it. Of course, you would need to hire a driver to enjoy all the amenities in the back.
