I'm listing my 66 Mustang for sale. I will give a very honest description listing the good and the bad.
I would classify this car as a very good to excellent driver quality car. It has a base 289 2bbl and C4 automatic trans. Exterior color is Springtime Yellow the interior is Parchment with black accents. Differential is the standard 8 inch open 3.00:1 ratio.
This car has the majority of it's original sheetmetal, the passenger door is not original and the drivers door has had a lower skin repair. Other than that I believe the rest of the sheetmetal and undercarriage to be all ford. The car is extremely solid. The floorpans, frame rails etc all rust free and that means no previous rust repairs. There is a small rust whole in the passenger rear wheel well. All the inner fenders are original also. The under side has not been restored and as such shows the dirt of 40 plus years. The paint is an older enamel finish that still shows well but has multiple minor nicks and scratches. There are paint adhesion problems in the door jamb hinge area and also under the hood on the lips were the fenders bolt are. Looks like improper prep in those areas. There is a crease in the left front fender behind the extension ear of the front bumper and a small ding in the passenger door. The rear valance panel is not a good paint match to the rest of the car. It is a few shades off, it was added when the duals were put on. Most all of the chrome and stainless shows very well, I have been replacing small things as I went along. The doors open and close as they should.

When I purchased the car it had black pony interior. The door tag decoded it as parchment with black accents and I have restored it as such and it presnts very nicely indeed. The car originally had a manual top, I purchased a used complete power setup from another Mustang and installed it completely using all Ford parts. The top is not new but it is in excellent shape with no exterior damage. Everything works electrically with the car.

Mechanically the car has also been gone through, new fuel tank, rebuilt carburetor (professional rebuilt) , new brakes and wheel cylinders, car uses pertronix ignition. The car has several leaks, small leaks from engine (oil) and power steering (very small) and from the automatic transmission. I intend to pull the drivetrain this winter if the vehicle does not sell to reseal the trans and freshen the engine and engine compartment as it also has never been restored /detailed and looks tired. The car has new Hankook Radials.

The car is an excellent driver. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. I took it to a local show today and rolled off at least 70 miles round trip. It is unusually smooth at speed and very easily cruises at 70/75 mph. The transmission shifts as smooth as butter, there are no unusual noises, rumbles or rattles. It is a pleasure to drive. It has factory AC, last year I did charge the system to see if it functioned and in did indeed work well, I have barely used the car this summer and have not used it since. The steering is tight, no loose suspension componets, the car tracks straight as an arrow, handles well and does not exhibit any unusual tire wear. Starts right up and does not smoke or use any oil to speak of. I recently installed factory style dual exhuast with the trumpets etc. Very quiet system, nothing offensive. Other than addressing the leaks the car needs nothing, and even the leaks are optional, the trans leaks the worst if the car sits for long periods of time unused.

I can provide other pictures as needed, you can call my cell to talk about the car. 732 599 8774, starting the bid at 100.00 and the reserve is 25,000.00 so no need to ask. I do not  end end auctions early. I encourage inspections from yourself or qualified inspectors. Call me to make arrangements. My name is Dan.

Ford profiles surprisingly affluent Focus ST buyers

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

It comes as no surprise when Ford says that 32-percent of Focus ST buyers are under 35, but we weren't expecting this: the average annual salary of Focus ST buyers is $127,000. Twenty-two percent of non-ST Focus buyers are under 35, while their average annual salary is $67,000.
We like the Focus ST because it has 252 horsepower, is genuinely fun to drive and offers great value for performance-minded car enthusiasts; facts that are not lost on customers, it seems. Ford says that the Focus ST has the highest percentage of conquest sales for a non-hybrid model it sells, and that the top-four trade-ins are from Honda, Chevrolet, Mazda and Toyota. Demand for the hot Focus is strongest in Los Angeles, Detroit, Houston and Orlando.
"[The Focus ST is] having this kind of halo effect for other vehicles we'd hoped for when we invested in the ST brand," says John Felice, vice president of US marketing, sales and service, because it's helping to boost sales of other Ford vehicles.

Ford Figo concept unveiled in India

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Ford has officially unveiled the Figo Concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi. While it may wear a concept badge, we'd argue this little sedan, which is under 12 feet long, looks ready to replace the current Figo and do battle with other B-segment cars in the world's emerging markets.
"With the Figo Concept, we are showing that choosing a compact sedan does not mean compromising on premium design or smart solutions," said Kumar Galhotra, Ford's VP of engineering, global product development. That premium design includes Ford's familial, trapezoidal grille and Fusion-esque headlights in front, while the rear end reminds us of the last-generation Focus Coupe. While that car wasn't exactly attractive, the chopped off tail looks pretty nice on this smaller car. And if you really don't like the looks of the Figo Concept, just remember - it looks better than the current production model. Aerodynamically, the Figo's shape is quite slippery, which means reduced wind noise and improved fuel economy.
As for the "smart solutions" touted by Galhotra, the narrow confines of Indian streets make driving even the tiniest cars a challenge. To give the Figo Concept a one-up on the competition, Ford has fitted power-folding mirrors that sport a "flexible architecture," which should stand up well to bumps from cars, people or bikes. We don't have any interior images, but Ford is promising a large cabin, that includes a dock that can accommodate a phone or MP3 player, allowing either to be controlled through the car.

Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.
