restored 1989 Mustang LX coupe built as a “Pro Touring” car and has been featured in issue 5 of Fox Mustang
Magazine. This Mustang had less than 23,000 miles on it when the restoration began, so it started out as a near
perfect body with no rust. Only 300 break-in miles have been logged on this Mustang since the completion of the
restoration.
The paint is a dark metallic gray over a lighter silver, separated by a thin orange stripe. The mirror shine paint
job is flawless, and above the quality that you see on most cars at high end car shows. The metallic in the dark
gray really stands out in the sun and under bright lights.
The engine is a stout 347 stroker engine rated at 519HP with worked Trick Flow heads; Vortech S-Trim Supercharger
with 48-pound Trick Flow injectors fed by an Aeromotive fuel system; MSD ignition; Crane cam and a long list of
other goodies. The transmission is a Tremec T600.
The exhausts starts with a pair of short tube Doug’s headers, a 2.5 inch stainless X-pipe and Flowmaster 40
Series mufflers that gives it an aggressive but subdued exhaust note at idle hinting at the high performance
experience that goes with this vehicle. Suspension is adjustable coil-overs on all 4 corners.
Wheels are FR500 10-spokes with Nitto 235/45ZR17 tires up front and NT555 P275/40R17 Extreme Drag Radial rubber in
the rear. Once rolling the AeroSpace disc brakes on all 4 corners slow things down with the help of drilled and
slotted rotors.
The interior is all brand new as well; it has custom two tone leather seats to mimic the exterior colors of the
car. Water Temp, Boost Press and Air Fuel gauges are tastefully mounted to driver’s side windshield pillar. It
also has a custom fit role bar / cage painted the same dark metallic gray as the top of the outside of the car. A
high end stereo system made up of a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player and a Bazooka sub-woofer complete the total interior
package.
Driving this car is incredible. It is a contradiction of sensations with the mix of raw power that’s available
instantly at any RPM and in any gear, combined with the predictability of the suspension, the right tires,
lightweight wheels and spot-on aftermarket brakes.

Ford S-Max Concept previews new look, technology for Euro seven-seater
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Ford unveiled today the S-Max Concept, which comes with a new, sleek look and loaded with innovative technology, such as a heart-rate monitoring seat. But if you're heart is set on a minivan sports activity vehicle (SAV) and you live in the States, don't wait for this one - it's a Europe-only product, and we don't expect that to change when the next-gen S-Max is released.
The styling follows Ford's global design language, looking a bit like an overgrown Focus hatchback with the company's signature grille, wraparound headlamps, steeply raked windshield and curved roof line. Ford also implemented details to make the S-Max look longer and faster, such as a feature line on each side of the vehicle and muscular-looking fenders. The engine isn't Ford's most powerful, but the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine should be potent enough with turbocharging and other efficiency related technologies.
Ford says the new interior, which seats up to seven people, features high-quality materials and fine detailing, such as an "ultra-soft" leather wrap for the instrument panel and leather and carbon-fiber details on the seats. Ford's Sync connectivity system with MyFord Touch makes the car a wireless hotspot, and there's a tablet docking station for second-row occupants.
Ford recalling select Taurus, Explorer and Lincoln MKS models over fuel tanks
Sun, 31 Mar 2013Ford is recalling certain 2012 Taurus, 2013 Explorer and 2012 Lincoln MKS models over fuel tank concerns. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicles built between July 19, 2011 and March 15, 2012 may have been built with fuel tanks that have a "marginally sealed seam" on the side. Those seams may not provide the strength necessary to protect the tank from rupture during a collision. They may also leak. The recall covers a total of 3,037 vehicles. NHTSA says that leaked fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could easily cause a fire.
Dealers will inspect the tanks and replace them as need be free of charge. Owners can expect to be notified once the campaign begins on or around April 22, 2013. You can read the full NHTSA recall notice below for more information.
Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014
Thu, 27 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.
