Here for your consideration is a 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra coupe. I have just had the 4cam 4.6 engine completely rebuilt at a cost of $4000.00 dollars. I bought this car with a rod knocking. Upon teardown it was discovered that number 4 and 8 rods had spun the bearings in the rods themselves. The rods in these engines cannot be resized, so I replaced both with new Ford rods. The block was then bored 0.020" with torque plates (which Ford did not do originally) and new 0.020" pistons installed. The cranked had to be turned 0.010" on both the rods and mains. The entire rotating assembly was rebalanced at that point. ARP studs were used in the block instead of the inferior factory bolts. ARP rod bolts were installed instead of the torque/yield bolts that were original. The cams were absolutely flawless, so I reused them. New chain tensioners were installed and a complete valve job done on the heads. I installed a new dual friction clutch when the engine was reinstalled. The car has been driven 400 miles so far since the rebuild. It runs and drives as new, nice tight suspension, ice cold A/C, everything works except the odometer. I checked the bottom side and everything is correct, so it must be in the head unit. Speedo works fine. This car is all stock, no mods at all, even original exhaust. This car has always been in North Carolina so there is no corrosion issues. The leather on the steering wheel is showing some wear and the bolster on the drivers seat needs to be recovered, as seen in the pictures. No cracks on the dash or door panels. This car should give thousands of trouble free miles with the work that has just been done. While preparing the car to return to the road, all the brakes have been gone through. This Cobra has never been hit and I believe it is wearing it's original black paint. It also has the Mach 460 sound system with AM/FM, CD, Cassette. If you are looking for a factory high performance Mustang that has not been "flogged" yet, then this is your car. If you drive it, you will love it. Car is sold as is. You are welcome any time during the auction to personally inspect and drive the car. Buyer is responsible for transporting the car to it's new home. I need payment within 2 weeks of auction's end.

2015 Ford Focus sedan shows its fresh face in New York

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

That handsome fellow you see above is the 2015 Ford Focus sedan. We liked the looks of the 2014 Focus, and the updates for 2015 only improve things to our eyes, with the adoption of the Aston Martin-inspired grille that has been permeating Ford's lineup these last few years. Sweeping, slightly bulbous headlamps join a revised, more demure lower grille opening to round out the styling updates up front. The rest of the car's look is just slightly massaged, including new taillamp clusters that look much like they did last year.
New for 2015 is the availability of Ford's 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine, mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission. There's also a new SE Sport Package that adds more aggressive suspension tuning, paddle shifters (when equipped with Ford's six-speed dual-clutch automatic) and a few body kit bits and pieces. Rounding out the mechanical changes are an updated electronic steering rack that promises better feel, suspension tweaks to make the ride more comfortable and some software updates designed to make the dual-clutch gearbox better behave itself.
In addition, inside there are a few interior upgrades, as well as some added comfort and safety tech that includes available blind-spot detection and lane-keeping assist, along with other more incremental changes that all add up to a better vehicle. We suggest you check out the official press release below for all the details, but not before scrolling through our image gallery of live shots above.

Court puts kibosh on apartheid lawsuit against Ford, Daimler

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Ford and Daimler have scored a major victory in a long-running lawsuit filed in US federal court by unnamed South African nationals. The suit alleges that both manufacturers and their subsidiaries sold their vehicles to the South African military, despite knowing that they'd be involved in violently putting down anti-apartheid protesters.
According to Reuters, South African plaintiffs filed the case under the 223-year-old Alien Torts Statute, a law which allows foreign nationals to file charges in US courts for perceived breaches of what was originally international law, but now more closely relates to violations of human rights.
And while the case - which also involves computer manufacturer IBM - has been tied up in federal courts for years, a recent case from the Supreme Court struck down a similar suit against Royal Dutch Petroleum (Shell), arguing that the ATS doesn't apply to corporations or to conduct if it occurred outside the US. In short, the law applies to individuals, but not corporations like Ford or Daimler. A US appeals court ruled that the conditions apply in this case, potentially drawing this long-running saga to a close, as the defendants will now be allowed to request that the case be dismissed in district court.

Is Tesla's next project an F-150 competitor? [w/poll]

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

What's the future look like for Tesla after it launches the Model X CUV and possibly a smaller, sub-Model S sedan? Would you believe a pickup truck? Yes, Tesla could be looking to use its EV know-how to take the fight to Ford and the F-150, based on comments made by company founder Elon Musk.
"If you're trying to replace the most gasoline miles driven, you have to look at what people are buying," Musk said during an impromptu Q&A session following a speech at Business Insider's Ignition conference. "[The F-150 is] the best selling car in America. If people are voting that's their car, then that's the car we have to deliver."
And while the idea of electric pickup may sound kind of absurd to some, Musk makes a very valid point - if Tesla's goal is to replace gas miles with electrical miles, it simply can't afford to ignore pickups.
