Riverside, Illinois, United States

1998 Ford Mustang GT. White with black top and gray interior. Second owner car with under 40,000 original miles. Non-smoker. Car is in excellent condition for its age. Adult owned and pampered. Garage kept, properly maintained (with records), never driven in snow or rain (stored in winter). Car has new tires, brakes, rotors, along with fresh alignment and balance done at the beginning of the summer (warranty & paperwork included). No accidents, clear/clean carfax, clean/clear title in hand. Original owner’s manual, window sticker, and two sets of keys/key fobs included. Fresh battery. No dents/dings/scratches. Paint, chrome, plastic trim, and convertible top are all in excellent condition. There are minor "marks" associated with a car of this age, including a couple of VERY small rock chips. I took a picture of the only one that would come out on camera, as they are very small and very difficult to see. Car is fully loaded with power options, keyless entry, and everything on the car functions properly. Has the factory Mach audio system with CD player. Interior is in excellent condition, no rips, tears, etc. Power top is in excellent condition, no rips or tears and functions perfectly, including convertible “boot” that came with the car. Car is 98% stock with some minor cosmetic modifications that include: Ford Cobra R wheels (chrome) with Michelin z-rated low profile tires, short (8 inch) fixed antenna, black “mustang gt” bumper vinyl letter decals, steering wheel cover, center console cover, and black fuel door. I have the original antenna and fuel door that will be included in the sale. No engine/mechanical modifications. Car starts, rides, shifts, stops, and idles excellent. No leaks or mechanical issues. This is an extremely clean 1998 GT, and you would be hard pressed to find a better example. This is a great car. It is ready to drive and needs nothing. It can serve as a collectible, a summer cruiser, or even a dependable daily driver…no surprises! Since it is a common platform for building modified cars from, a major benefit of this car is that parts are very affordable and readily available. Please email me with any questions. View my pictures and feedback and bid with confidence.

eBay Find of the Day: 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe is showroom fresh

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

There's an ultra-rare Ford Thunderbird for sale on eBay, although it's not quite the T-Bird you're probably thinking. This is a 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, complete with a five-speed manual transmission and just a shade over 13,000 miles on the clock. The condition is said to be mint, and judging by the interior and exterior pictures, we're inclined to believe the seller. The paint is glossy and the interior looks showroom new, while the underbody is stunningly clean for a 36-year-old car.
Underhood sits a 2.3-liter, intercooled and turbocharged four-cylinder (also found in the Mustang SVO) that was producing 190 horsepower when it left the factory. Inside, the five-speed manual transmission adds to the car's rarity. The vehicle's sole owner has been as immaculate with the paperwork as he has with the rest of the car - it's all there, including brochures and other product material.
The eBay auction ends tomorrow at midnight (9:00 PM if you're on America's west coast). Bidding has reached $10,200, and there's still plenty of time to get in on this future classic. The vehicle is located in Millstone Township, NJ.

Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.

Ford rethinking vehicle launch strategy

Tue, 07 May 2013

With a new boss at the helm, Ford is looking at new ways to improve its vehicle launches in North America to prevent recent issues that have popped up with models like the Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford's new president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, revealed a few ways the automaker plans to avoid early build issues such as the engine fires on certain 2013 Escape and Fusion models and months-long delays for customers to receive their MKZs.
It sounds like the root of the problems may have been Ford's relationship with suppliers compounded by the fact that the product surge came on the heels of the recent industry-crippling recession, and in the AN article, Hinrichs says improvements are being made to reduce problems during the launch of new or redesigned models. Three such improvements that were implemented during the first quarter of this year including more rigorous quality comparisons, better use of computer technology to catch major problems sooner and hiring engineers to work closer with suppliers.
