You are bidding on a 2002 Mustang GT that is in excellent condition with only 83618 original miles. This is the cleanest 2002 you will find. Period. The modifications are a bonus.

The car is a 5 speed, manual transmission.  Ice cold air conditioning, very good street manners, and tagged in Delaware for one more year.  Unless you personally drive this car, it is difficult to express how much of a pleasure it is to drive.

It has been recently serviced, so routine maintenance should be of no concern.  Engine oil was changed less than 100 miles ago (Motorcraft) along with the supercharger oil (Synthetic).  New battery, new spark plugs, Weapon X coils.  Fuel filter is new. Cobra PCV valve.  The car sports 13" Cobra Brakes in the front.  It stops better than any factory GT.  Emergency brake works perfect.  Pad wear is minimal. K&N Air Filter relocated to fender well. As is necessary with the Procharger supercharger (P-1SC). Procharger Intercooler.  Blow off valve. Powder coated inlet tubing.  Has a Diablosport mass air extender.  Dallas Mustang speed calibrator. Transmission is the factory Tremec 3650 rebuilt less than 50 miles ago by Bob Hanlon of Hanlon Motorsports in St. Peters, Pennsylvania. Spec Stage III Clutch and Flywheel. Short Throw shifter with stops has fresh adjustment.  Aluminum Driveshaft.  Rear Axle is a 94-95 Axle housing (1" narrower than stock) built by scratch with 4.10:1 gears, Eaton positraction, Moser axles with 3" studs, custom fabricated bracing by Rhodes Customs in Townsend, DE.  Powdercoated housing.  Maximum Motorsports Extreme Duty lower control arms. New rear shocks.  Exhaust is accomplished through an X pipe and new Flowmaster Exhaust, perfectly installed.  Fuel is supplied with an SVT fuel pump. 80% duty cycle at 6000rpm.

This car was tuned by Performance Evolution in Smyrna, DE.  It made 425 RWHP and 435 lb/ft of torque. Yes, it is fast.

Exterior:  Has new smoked headlamps, Raxiom LED third brake lamp, Mach 1 grille delete and chin spoiler.  New front tires. Drag radials still have life, but are beginning to show some wear.
Interior: Boost gauge, fancy upgraded pedal covers. Mostly stock. Excellent condition for a 2002.  Better than normal wear.

Ford Explorer, Expedition next to go aluminum?

Sun, 13 Apr 2014

Ford made some serious waves when it unveiled the latest F-150. Instead of making its bodywork out of steel, like just about every other truck on the market, Ford went with aluminum. And you can bet the F-150 won't be the last Ford model to go with the lightweight alloy construction, either.
Our compatriots at Edmunds report that Dearborn is considering replacing two of its most popular SUVs with aluminum versions. One candidate is the Expedition, which would make sense considering that the current model (like the two preceding generations and the fullsize Bronco before it) is based on the F-150's underpinnings. Another is the Explorer, which was traditionally based on the Ranger pickup but went with a car-like unibody chassis in its current iteration. If the Explorer does go the way of aluminum, don't expect it to be a part of its very next update, which is likely due too soon for such major changes.
It would stand to reason that, if the Expedition were to go aluminum, so would the next-generation Lincoln Navigator. Ditto the MKT together with the Explorer. But those aren't likely to be the only models in contention for aluminum construction. Like any other automaker, Ford is under pressure to steadily reduce its carbon emissions and improve its fuel economy figures, prompting it to look at a whole range of measures - including more efficient engines, lower rolling-resistance tires, active aerodynamics and lightweight construction. Expect aluminum to play a big part in that equation moving forward.

2015 F-150 launch to curb Ford profits?

Thu, 30 Jan 2014

Ford is making a big bet on aluminum with its new 2015 F-150, and it's possible that the decision will hurt the company financially, at least in the short term. After earning a record $8.6 billion in 2013, the Blue Oval does not expect to set another record in 2014. According to Automotive News, that's "largely attributable to F Series," says Bob Shanks, Ford's Chief Financial Officer.
To retool for the new F-150, Ford will idle its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan for 11 weeks and the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri for 2 weeks. "3 of the 13 overall weeks occur during what normally is our summer shutdown timeframe," said Mike Levine, Ford Trucks Communication Manager, in an email to Autoblog. The extra 10 weeks will be preparing for the more aluminum-intensive construction for the trucks and will mean over 2 months of no F-150s being made. For comparison's sake, Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne just confirmed that the 200 plant in Sterling Heights, MI will be down for 30 days to retool for the new model, but obviously there are many more F-150 production variables than for the midsize sedan.
Levine notes that Ford is already running three shifts at both plants, and says the automaker has plans to ensure that there is adequate supply of the full-size pickups during the retooling process. The company does not want to suffer a shortage of the vehicle that accounted for 31-percent of its 2013 US sales and an even bigger percentage of its profits.

Ford 3D-printing Mustang out of chocolate and candy for Valentine's Day

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

Is your beloved in love with the new 2015 Ford Mustang? Do they like chocolate (that's a trick question - everyone likes chocolate)? Are they a bit of a futurist? Then this Hallmark holiday, you need to get them this Ford Mustang, 3D-printed in sweet, delicious chocolate.
Ford is teaming with 3D Systems' Sugar Lab in LA to produce the super-accurate pony car confections in both chocolate and sugar candy varieties. The process kicked off with a CAD rendering of the 2015 Mustang, which was then programmed into the 3D printer. After a bit of work from the machine, a four-inch long, two-inch tall Mustang was the result. Why the tieup with 3D Systems, though?
"We wanted to create something fun to show that while 3D printing made these edible Mustangs, manufacturing-level 3D printing was used in the development of Ford's all-new sports car," said Paul Susalla, Ford's supervisor of 3D printing.
