I bought this 2007 Mustang GT new on April 17, 2007. The color is Vista Blue (G9). The interior is black leather which includes the (real) stitched instrument panel edge. Options include the GT Appearance Package (engine cover with Pony emblem), hood scoop, and bright rolled exhaust tips), traction control,  17" bright cast aluminum wheels, 6-way power driver and passenger seats (heated), Sirius radio, Active Anti-Theft System, and 5-speed automatic transmission.

It has seen no winter weather. It has always been driven responsibly  by a mature driver. No one has ever smoked in it, and I don't allow eating in my cars either. In October, 2007 I drove it Dearborn and posed in front of Ford World Headquarters (picture here). It gets an easy 25mpg on the highway and over 20 around town. There are absolutely no modifications of any kind, this car is 100% stock as-is from the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. As such it handles, performs, and looks exactly the way Ford wanted a 2007 Mustang GT in Vista Blue to be. There will be no disappointments because of a modified suspension, engine, or appearance.

The cons: the back seat has a couple of very small spots where the leather is malformed (see picture);  a couple of hidden scuffs on the inside of the trunk wall cover, below the rear lip; a small brush-like imperfection just below and to the left of the rear GT emblem, on the plastic bumper piece. Insignificant items in themselves but nonetheless there.

My Mustang was ordered by me, you can see the line which says  "TAG J ROTELLA" on the window price sticker. That means it was a pre-sold unit naming me as the customer. Like my other cars (all of which are  Fords) this Mustang has been treated properly, with respect, kindness, and care. I took delivery from Concord Ford in Newark, New York. You can call that dealership (315-331-3223) and ask them about my Mustang if you wish, the salesman is still there and his name is Joe.

You can see this car in person in Camillus, New York. I recommend an in-person inspection. If you want to call me please contact me via eBay message and I will send my phone number.

Please read the payment and deposit instructions. Under no circumstances will I release the car and/or its title until payment has been cleared by my bank, regardless if you send a cashier's certified check, or personal check. The car is titled in New York State and is free from all encumbrances and liens. A check on this car's history will reveal nothing interesting or unusual, as it has been owned by me since new and registered in my name since new. No accidents, no incidents, just proud and happy miles.

The car is located in ZIP 13031, about 8 miles west of Syracuse, New York. Delivery to your location is entirely your responsibility and expense. I do have access to some auto transporter options and facilities and I am willing to consider delivering the car to you depending on your location. Once payment has been made and I turn over the title, my NY license plates will be removed. You may apply for an in-transit permit to drive the car, check with the NYS DMV. Those permits can be obtained at any DMV office, nearby they are located in Auburn, Syracuse, and Fulton.

If you are considering a purchase of a car in this class, please by all means, buy a Mustang...any Mustang. The rest, a.k.a. the "competition" are just Mustang-wanna-bes. Why buy an imitation when for the same money you can have the real thing? Only Mustang makes it happen.

EPA says fuel economy test for hybrids is accurate

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

The EPA says it stands behind its fuel economy test for hybrid vehicles following controversy about the testing process after Ford C-Max Hybrid customers and automotive journalists alike struggled to achieve 47 miles per gallon, the advertised mpg number, Automotive News reports. Ford responded to the issue almost two weeks ago by claiming that a 1970s-era EPA general label rule was responsible for the inaccurate mileage numbers, rerating the C-Max Hybrid's mpg numbers and offering customers rebates. Ford later said it didn't overstate the C-Max Hybrid's fuel economy and that it was surprised by the low numbers.
Ford technically didn't do anything wrong because it was following the general label rule, but agency regulator Christopher Grundler says the automaker was exploiting a loophole when it came up with the hybrid C-Max numbers, and that the testing process remains accurate. The general label rule allows vehicles that use the same engine and transmission and are in the same weight class to share fuel economy numbers, but it doesn't take into account other factors such as aerodynamic efficiency, which affects hybrids more drastically than non-hybrid vehicles. Ford originally used the Fusion Hybrid economy figures for the C-Max Hybrid and claimed the engineers didn't realize that its aerodynamic efficiency would affect fuel economy as much as it did.

The fascinating forgotten civil defense history of Mister Softee trucks

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. Click over to Throwin' Wrenches for the full run down of how Mister Softee would have stepped in to help fight if the Cold War ever turned a little hotter.

Enterprise customer billed $47k for Mustang stolen from rental lot

Sun, 05 Jan 2014

A weekend rental of a Ford Mustang GT Convertible sounds like a nice, relaxing way to burn some gas, but one Nova Scotia woman's two-day rental is turning into a months-long headache. In early October, Kristen Cockerill picked up the Mustang from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and she returned it the following day as stipulated by the rental contract. Unfortunately, she dropped the car off on a Sunday - a day on which the particular Enterprise office is closed - and the car ended up being stolen overnight.
Now, two months later, CBC reports that Cockerill received a bill from Enterprise for the full replacement of the car totaling $47,271 (a base 2014 Mustang GT Convertible currently costs $40,349 in Canada). As it turns out, the fine print in the contract says that the renter is responsible for cars dropped off after hours until it can be inspected the next business day - this is also reflected on the key drop seen in the news report video, which states "vehicles returned after hours are the responsibility of the renter until inspected on the next business day."
It's not clear how much, if any, of that amount Cockerhill will be responsible for once her insurance company gets involved, but if the insurance company refuses to pay, Enterprise will bill the amount to the credit card she provided during her rental. While this ordeal is far over for Cockerhill, it's a good reminder for the rest of us to always read the fine print.
