Offered for sale is a 2007 Ford Mustang Roush Stage 3 Fastback in fantastic condition. In 2007, Jack Roush said, This is the best Mustang we have ever built. The Stage 3, 4.6 L, 3-valve V8 powertrain system includes the intercooled ROUSHcharger system with custom ROUSH-calibrated ECM and several other performance modifications which has 425 horsepower and 385 ft. pounds of torque. Topping off the engine is a NX Nitrous system! The car only has 27,498 miles. But this car is more than just a quick on the throttle. The suspension upgrades include and tuned front struts, rear shocks, front and rear springs, front and rear sway bars and jounce bumpers. The front brakes are also upgraded with 14-inch front two-piece rotors and four-piston calipers. The brakes are highlighted by the red front brake caliper covers. Shifting is a dream with the short throw 5-speed shifter installed by the ROUSH team. The car sounds great because of the tuned engine and a throaty high-flow exhaust system. The exterior styling turns heads as it is lowered by ROUSH who also added the ROUSH seven-piece body kit of a front fascia, front chin spoiler, hood scoop, rocker panels, rear fascia valance and rear wing all installed by ROUSH factory technicians. Other amenities include lower valence fog lamps and custom 18-inch forged rims with high performance tires. The interior is awesome with the Stage 3 sport leather seats, regular seat belts and five point harnesses for the two front seats. The two front seats have seat heaters for added comfort. The stock radio has been upgraded to a Pioneer Apple Play sound system which interacts with your iPhone and with this combination has GPS, satellite radio, texting by voice (send and receive), hands free calling, and back up camera. Added to these options are embroidered floor mats, billet aluminum pedals and the stage 3 white face gauge cluster with full use of the carbon-fiber trim kit installed by the ROUSH team. The trunk has the nitrous bottle smartly tucked behind a custom upholstered panel and hosts the coveted ROUSH tool kit. The car is in excellent condition and was just serviced by both a Ford dealer and a ROUSH dealer. All maintenance was just performed with new shocks and bushings front and back being installed. The only issue on the entire car is a scratched area on the front of the lower fascia trim piece due to rubbing on parking curb. I have included a photo of this which I believe just needs to be sanded down and repainted. The fiberglass doesnt show any signs of being stressed or cracked. I have offered this super fun muscle car for sale with a very reasonable reserve which is significantly less than the $60,000 plus price tag a new one would cost! Check out the original Roush window sticker to see the options and real value this car provides.

Ford reveals concept trucks that ultimately became Atlas

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

The Ford Atlas Concept was one of the quiet success stories of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now Ford has given us a quick glimpse as to how that creation came to be. Designers actually combined two early sketches to build the Atlas. One, called the Bullet Train, is a futuristic, aerodynamic creation, while the other, aptly named the Locomotive, features the squared off proportions we're familiar with.
Once designers settled on the truck's proportions, they began nailing down exactly which attributes they wanted the final design to have. The Concept's notched windshield originated as a forked glass roof that seamlessly transitioned into the windscreen.
Likewise, designers wanted to fit the truck's tailgate with a storage compartment for tools and a first aid kit, but settled on the dual-purpose step/cargo cradle. Interestingly enough, the concept's active aero shutter wheels actually originated in some of the earliest sketches. Check out the photos and slides here for a closer look.

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.

Ford looks back on 50 years of the Mustang in Detroit

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Ford has something special sitting in its booth here at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. In fact, it brought two special somethings in the form of the Ford Mustang 1 Concept that first saw the light of day in 1962 and the very first production Mustang that rolled off the production line in 1964.
These classic creations are sharing floor space with the brand-new 2014 Mustang in honor of the pony car's 50th Anniversary. Since Ford's latest 'Stang already made its auto show debut (at a number of locations, including Los Angeles), we think it's pretty cool that the Blue Oval did something special for its home-town show.
Check out both the Mustang 1 Concept and first production 1964.5 Mustang above and below.
