1971 Ford Ranchero on 2040-cars
Paradise, California, United States
For sale is a very promising 1971 Ford Ranchero. This vehicle is a very sound and solid Calif. rust free car. The engine is a 400 ci that turns over normally but I have not been able to get it to start. It has no spark and I am not interested in these cars enough to mess with it. The body is rock solid, there is a small dent in the drivers door that appears fairly easy to pop out. The vinyl top definitely needs replacing and the rear window is missing. The steering column is actually intact now but was pictured apart to repair the ignition switch. The interior is pretty clean and complete. I don't have a lot of knowledge about the car except for what is listed. I was told it was a GT but please research yourself to determine that. This car does not run and will need to be trailered. I can assist in loading the car. The Ranchero has huge potential and is one of the most popular of the Ford Ranchero line. It has been out of the DMV system for many years and has nothing but a bill of sale. There is no title to the car so please check your respective states about registration. It is not salvage nor junk. It is however a bit of a project but when complete will make a very unique and fun car to drive around or show. Please call or text 510-377-8619 or email with any questions. Thanks |

Ford of Europe celebrates Mondeo's 20th anniversary
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Ford's European operations are celebrating a milestone of sorts as the Mondeo, the Blue Oval's bread-and-butter D-segment sedan in the old country, celebrates its 20th anniversary. The mid-sizer, which was sold in the US for a short time as the Contour, has been a far more popular vehicle in Europe - even receiving regular praise from one Jeremy Clarkson.
Narrated by Cockney actor Ray Winstone, the video goes through the Mondeo's years and how it's evolved from 1993 to the as-yet-unreleased fifth-generation model, which is essentially the same as the Ford Fusion that's sold in America. Take a look below for the full video from Ford of Europe.
The big dune jump and the damage done
Mon, 20 May 2013The Silver Lake sand dunes see their fair share of well-built trophy trucks executing impressive jumps. Drivers build insane pieces of machinery for the express purpose of sailing through the air like mad men and women.
Mike Higgins is no stranger to the area. His heavily modified Ford trophy truck has gone flying through the sky on more than one occasion, but he recently bit off more than he could chew. After hitting a particularly lofty dune, Higgins went airborne for a ridiculous 180 feet before becoming intimately familiar with the finer points of gravity.
While Higgins nailed the jump, his landing fell short of wowing the judges. The impact very nearly broke his truck in two. Despite the mechanical mayhem, the driver walked away without a scratch, proving that occasionally miracles really do happen. You can check out the jump and the subsequent destruction below for yourself. Be warned: there's a fair bit of foul language.
Mustang Cobra Jet prototype garners $200k for charity at Barrett-Jackson
Wed, 02 Oct 2013A few weeks ago we brought you news of a one-off Mustang Cobra Jet that Ford was donating to charity. The car was set to be auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Now that auction has taken place, bringing in an impressive $200,000 for MS research.
That's a lot of zeros for a Mustang, much less one you can't even drive on the street. But the unique pony car, bearing serial number 2014 BJMS CJXX1, packs a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, competition gearbox, wheelie bar, roll cage... all you could want, in short, in a turn-key drag racer. And all that for a good cause.
