up for auction is a 1971 ford ranchero gt. it's a lifelong las vegas truck. This ranchero is as solid as it gets; no rust issues!!!The previous owner had over $7500 in vehicle with a lot of receipts for new engine parts. It's equipped with a 351 Cleveland that runs very strong. The transmission shifts good (it does have a shift kit) and it has a b and m quicksilver shifter(sometimes the b&m shifter acts goofy and makes it difficult to shift into reverse and park...replacing b&m shifter would probably be a good idea). The interior is in decent condition: carpet is ok, headliner decent, door panels are pretty good, dash has some cracks, and the seats has fabric off and could use recovering. The wheels are centerlines and they are in decent conditions. tires are just ok.. The paint in my opinion is a 5 out of 10; It has an older maaco quality black paint and the paint is cracking and fading in a few spots. The factory red paint is visible in a few spots. The best way to go on this ranchero would probably be to bring back the beautiful factory red paint with the lazer stripes. The bumper could be rechromed. The way this ranchero sits, it is very driveable and cool driver quality truck and it still gets a ton of attention but this truck has a ton of potential and without too much work, could be a show truck. The bed is super solid and in nice shape. runs good but could probably use a tune up or mechanical tlc. This ranchero is over 40 years old and will imperfections but it's super solid and a lot of truck for the money. Questions and inspections are welcomed and encouraged ; I'm located in maple grove , mn and I would love to show it. Good luck and happy bidding!!!!

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

Automakers donating money, vehicles and supplies to Oklahoma tornado relief effort

Fri, 24 May 2013

Judging by the destruction the Oklahoma City area experienced earlier this week, residents are going to need a lot of help in coming months. Fortunately, a number of automakers - including General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Honda and Toyota - have stepped up to donate money, supplies and vehicles to aid in the recovery and rebuilding processes.
Here's a quick rundown of which automakers have pitched in and what each contributed so far:
Ford Motor Company has donating $250,000 and a Transit Connect to the American Red Cross, and it will match all other donations made to the Red Cross (up to $250,000) using a special URL tied to the latter's website (link here). Additionally, its local Oklahoma dealers have thrown in an extra $150,000 for the United Way and the automaker will be offering an extra $500 toward the purchase of a new Ford vehicle.

Ford to update Sync, MyFord Touch software... again

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

Ford hasn't had the best luck with its MyFord Touch and Sync systems, as the finicky infotainment system has been subject to a critical whooping while customer issues have helped sink Ford's IQS scores. The automaker has made a concerted effort, though, to try and fix MyFord Touch. And while the results have been mixed, The Blue Oval is hoping its latest free update, set to go live next week, will make things better.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the new system promises streamlined voice commands with fewer levels between opening query and actual result. Ford is also addressing where certain options are selected on the touchscreen. Rather than working one of the four quadrants on the homescreen, users will be able to select anywhere within the quadrant to make adjustments.
While it might only be a band-aid for MFT's problems, the fact that Ford is still trying to improve it is a promising sign. It's going to take more than just this update to address the system's ills, though.
