This is a beautiful 1972 Ford Ranchero with the big block 429. Matching numbers vehicle! Only two owners. Rust free Nevada car. 125,000 original miles

The custom teal paint job cost $6000 at the time. There are some blemishes now, and some bondo that is cracking in the driver's door. It is not a show car, but looks great. It turns heads and people give you the thumbs up when you drive by. The upholstery is also custom and is color-keyed to match the paint. The dash has been dialed in with the paint as well, as is shown in the pictures. The Ranchero is complemented with a great set of custom wheels, and a tonneau cover that tops the bed that is in great shape. There is a fantastic sound system! It has an Alpine CD changer with a Hifonics 200 watt amp. There are four kicker eight inch sub woofers and two Boston Pro Series mid range speakers with tweeters. The woofers are cleverly stashed behind the seats with vinyl covers.

The meticulous owner kept all of the stock parts if someone wanted to take it back to bone stock. The original wheels with BFG's are also included. We also have the stock valve covers and air cleaner.

The Ranchero was stored inside for the past fifteen years. The Ranchero has been detailed. We installed new spark plug wires, new battery, changed the oil and all filters. rebuilt the Edlebrock 750 carb. We have run a tank of premium fuel through it, and had a blast watching the peoples' heads turn as we drove by. The engine was rebuilt 3000 miles ago. This is one fine car that is worth taking a look at. It is eligible for Hot August Nights in Reno. It is a great cruiser. It is low, but not slow.

The Ranchero is currently in Reno.  We will help with the shipping, or can deliver a reasonable distance for a reasonable price.

Holy crime-fighting Ford F-150, Batman!

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

What would Batman drive for his weekly trips to Home Depot for the bits and pieces needed to keep his lair deep below Wayne Manor in tip-top condition? Certainly not the Batmobile - there's no way a 4x8 sheet of plywood will fit between the wheel wells, not to mention the fact that jet turbine engines have an unfortunate tendency to set trailers on fire when towing...
No, what Batman needs is a pickup truck. The boys from Ford teamed up with Galpin Auto Sports to build just such a machine, and it has just debuted at Comic Con. Designed by Jared Barris, grandson of the legendary kustomizer George Barris, the 2012 F-150 pickup you see here, dubbed Crime Fighter, is painted Tuxedo Black with Ferrari Red highlights and is affixed with fins on each side of the truck bed. It's nothing if not unique.
Well, it's at least unique for now. According to Ford, Galpin in Southern California is willing to take orders for customers looking to don a cape and hit the town for a night of crime-fighting action. Or trips to Home Depot. Check out our high-res image gallery and then scroll down for the official description from Ford. We're waiting for details such as pricing and build time from Ford, and we'll update this post if and when we hear back.

Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:

Reborn Ford Escort could make its way to Europe

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

The Ford Escort concept just unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show was created with the Chinese market in mind, but it's got people talking all over the world. Not purely fancy, the point of the Escort concept was to give Chinese buyers a preview of what they could expect to see in a Ford showroom in the near future. If Ford wasn't seriously considering the new Escort for other countries, a report in Auto Express indicates that the concept's reception has changed all that.
No less than the incoming chairman of Ford UK said "it could work in other places," bolstering the comments of "a senior Ford insider" who said the question of bringing the car to Europe to slot in underneath the Focus had been raised. That's a long way from anything of the kind happening, which would require Ford to figure out how to sell it for the right price and not torpedo the company reputation among Euro buyers. In any case, we'd be as intrigued as anyone if an Escort resurrection created the next 'who knew?' market segment of few-frills transportation offered by non-Asian carmakers.
