Pro Street Ford Ranger V-8 on 2040-cars
Rolla, Missouri, United States
thanks for looking at my sons 1983 FORD Ranger !! He mowed grass for about 3 Summers to accumulate enough $$$ to build the engine. the engine was professionally built by a local machine-shop who builds award winning race car engines and was put together and installed by my son and his High School Automotive Technology Instructor and a master FORD ASE Mechanic of over 20 yrs. This truck had been converted to a V-8 , lowered , rear-end narrowed and painted when we bought it. The engine was in the back and we had to install it. The motor was a roller cam and ran fine , but was 100% stock, so my son drove it that way until he saved enough money to pull it out and build it. Here are the specs : Spectre dual carb hat Holley 750 professionall rebuilt Edelbrock RPM Air GAP Intake Scorpion aluminum roller rockers (fully adjustable) drop forged Comp Cam push rods Comp Cam lifters b303 FORD Racing cam Pro Comp 210 Aluminum heads FORD roller cam 302 block professionally bored and balanced to a 306 (.030 over) forged pistons forged H rods with ARP rod bolts all new gasketd and bearings Melling high volume oil pump Mustang shorty headers Ford Explorer radiator electric fan w/ 180 degree switch MESIERE electric water pump air pump delete (smog pump) power steering delete ( we have everything to switch back to power steering) Transmission : C-4 reverse manual valve body B&M quarter shifter Kevlar clutches 3800 stall large trans cooler with satinless lines ** trans built by Cam'd Up Racing in St.Louis - ** Driveshaft : custom built by FAST SHAFTS with the best u-joints available Rear End: Narowed FORD 9" posi-trac 4.11 gears Air-shocks Tires : M/T et Streets on rear, never seen a burn-out Truck runs excellent, never been to the track, my son has so much $$$ in this truck if he broke it he couldn't afford to fix it , so he never took it to the track!! Truck has a clear Missouri title , needs a little TLC and some body-work (if you want to , or drive it the way it is) all lights, wipers, heater, etc work on this truck, it is street legal . He recently graduated from college and has other interests, so that's why we're selling it. 2015 Ford Focus
Tue, 14 Oct 2014Sitting down at the pre-drive briefing with Ford engineers ahead of sampling the refreshed 2015 Focus, water bottles clinked as we wet our whistles before Q&A. While pouring a glass, we noticed something stamped on the bottle label: "1L." One liter. We were palming the exact displacement of the EcoBoost engine our group was about to drive. This was undoubtedly coincidence (such bottles litter every conference and dinner table in Europe) but it served to drive home just how small the total swept volume of Ford's wunderkind powerplant really is. It's tiny.
Of course, this isn't our first run-in with the little triple - we've sampled its turbocharged charms before in Ford's smaller Fiesta. At that time, we found it had plenty of poke for the subcompact, but the larger C-segment Focus carries around another 450 pounds or so and pushes a wider profile through the air. Would the three-cylinder have the stuffing to make the most of the Focus' athletic chassis, or would it be a letdown? Would it be the same as it was when we tested it in a Euro-spec Focus a couple of years ago? There was nothing left for it but to head out on the bucolic roads surrounding Versailles the day after the Paris Motor Show and find out for ourselves.
Ford builds USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang for charity
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Each year since 2008, Ford has created a one-off Mustang to celebrate military aviation, and the cars have been auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Gathering of Eagles charity event to raise money to inspire the next generation of aviators. This year's charity car is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, which also helps celebrate 60 years of Thunderbirds air show excellence.
Of all the EAA charity cars, this Thunderbirds Edition is the most in depth. Painted to match the F-16 Tomcat fighter jets used by Thunderbirds, this Mustang also gets a widebody kit and 22-inch Forgiato wheels to go with the cockpit's Recaro bucket seats, rear-seat delete and modified navigation screen and gauge cluster. Even the Mustang's projector puddle lights have been changed to show an aircraft silhouette - rather than the Mustang's galloping horse logo - when the doors are open.
Themes for previous EAA charity cars include the Blue Angels, SR-71 Blackbird and the Red Tails as well as the F-22 Raptor-inspired AV8R and AV-X10 "Dearborn Doll" models. Scroll down for the press release for the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, and be sure to check out our galleries for all six aviation-themed Mustangs.
Toyota, Ford and Honda again top Consumer Reports Car-Brand Perception Survey
Fri, 01 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has released its annual Car-Brand Perception Survey, and the list looks awfully familiar. The top six brands are identical to last year's results, with Toyota, Ford and Honda continuing to occupy the podium. All told, Toyota walked away with 133 points, putting it 15 ahead of second-place Ford. Honda jumped 26 points this year, narrowing Ford's lead to just four points in total.
Consumer Reports polls buyers from across the country on how they see multiple brands in seven categories, including quality, safety, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation and environmentally friendly/green. Researchers then combine the findings to come up with the total brand score.
While value and performance remain important to buyers, CR found quality and safety are still on top when it comes to significance. Scion and Mitsubishi found themselves at the bottom of the pack with the worst score of all, tied at just six points. Ram, Fiat and Mini filled out the lowest five with scores of seven, eight and 10 points, respectively. You can read the full press release below for more information, or head over to the Consumer Reports site.
