1885 Ford Thunderbird Fila V6, 60k Miles, Southern Beauty One Family. Excellent! on 2040-cars

Year:1985 Mileage:60616
Location:

Woodruff, South Carolina, United States

Woodruff, South Carolina, United States

Up for sale is the beautiful low mileage 1985 Ford Thunderbird Fila Edition with the 3.8 V6. It has been in upstate South Carolina all it's life and has been kept in the same family always. This 85 TBird has only 60,616 original miles and is in wonderful condition.
The outside is burgandy and is in excellent condition. The original paint shines very well and has only minor wear from use. There will be a minor scratch here and there but this TBird shows almost as new. The tires are new with very few miles. All glass is nice.
The dark grey leather/suede inside is virtually new with minimal wear. The sport seats are very comfortable. The power driver seat moves with ease and both front seats are articulated to give firm support. The dash, steering wheel, door panels and headliner are as new. This rare Fila Bird spent a good deal of time locked away in a garage which accounts for it's formidable condition. All options work as they should.
The 3.8 V6 starts and runs well but could benefit from a tune up as this TBird has been scarcely driven for the last few years. The motor is clean and there are no signs of leaks as of the picture taking. It has been started regularly and driven a few miles at a time. It has been on our showroom, not for sale, for a couple of years along with a stunning 1961 Cadillac DeVille, which will go on Ebay soon. The owner would like to see these kept well by new owners.
Please bid with confidence. This 1985 Fila Thunderbird can be driven to it's new destination but the condition ( Excellent) is such that I would not advise it. You may not want to risk any damage to it. But if you are bidding for a daily driver then head in and drive away if you want. It will be serviced and ready for travel either way. If you are nearby, please, by all means, come by and inspect this beautiful Thunderbird in person. The reserve is low for a vehicle of this type and condition. Thanks for looking!

Ford doubling 1.0L EcoBoost engine production

Fri, 06 Sep 2013

Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine hasn't been around that long, but it sounds like the engine is getting to be fairly popular in the automaker's global car lineup. The Detroit News is reporting that Ford has add a second shift that will allow its German engine plant to double daily output from 500 engines to 1,000.
The increased capacity is part of a plan to sell more than 300,000 vehicles a year with this engine in Europe by 2015. Europe is currently the only market where the smallest of the EcoBoost engines is offered (including in the Focus pictured above), but US-spec Fiesta models will be getting this mill for 2014.
Three-cylinder engines are expected to continue to grow in popularity in coming years with the report indicating that global production of these engines will double by 2018 to 9.8 million units. General Motors, BMW and Mitsubishi are all expected to introduce three-cylinder engines in the near term, as well.

First Ford Mustang prototype shots caught by legendary spy shooter Jim Dunne

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

You know how people refer to someone as having "been around the block" to mean they're very experienced? Well, when it comes to automotive spy photography, Jim Dunne actually laid down the concrete slabs of the block's sidewalk. The unforgettable Dunne more or less invented the car spy game - a fact he cemented by writing book called Car Spy - and has been delivering spy shots and reporting on the industry for some 45 years now. (He also once employed this writer as his impromptu personal chauffer on a Volkswagen trip in Germany, while he slept, but that's a story for a different time.)
In any event, Dunne must be on a mission to prove that "elder statesman" doesn't also mean "washed up" as it is his shots of the upcoming new 2014 Ford Mustang that we've been handed by our friends at KGP Photography.
Mr. Dunne has likely spent the last few years obtaining powerful telescopic lenses, as the Ford in question has clearly been photographed from some distance. Nevertheless, what you see here is visual evidence that the sixth-generation Mustang has moved beyond the mule stage, and is now testing in proper prototype form. Sources indicate that there are production-spec body panels under that baggy canvass dress; but the slightly less bulky silhouette of the new car can be just made out. While the car's bumpers have been removed to obfuscate things, we can tell by way of the camo's apertures that the car's taillights have moved upwards and towards the lip of the tail. A fender vent appears to be visible, too, just behind the front wheel.

Ford Ranger-based 7-seat SUV spotted testing

Wed, 29 May 2013

Ford looks to be working on a new SUV version of its global Ranger pickup truck. An early prototype of a seven-passenger SUV based on the Ranger has been spotted testing in Australia, and word has it buyers in the region could expect to see the model in showrooms as soon as 2014, where it could sail under the Endeavour or Everest badges. Ford Australia currently sells the Territory SUV, so there's some chance that this model could be a successor to that throne, as well.
Whatever it's called, the long-roof Ranger will feature a shorter wheelbase and more ground clearance than its pickup twin, giving the machine a bit more off-road functionality. (And here we thought we couldn't want the global Ranger any more than we already do.) While this particular vehicle sports a Territory back half grafted onto a Ranger front end, odds are a public reveal of the finished product could occur as soon as the second half of 2014, making it a 2015 model. Head over to Carsguide.com.au for a closer look.
