1956 Ford Thunderbird "Barn Find" RARE P-Code 312ci Power Seat Car

You are looking at Complete and original 1956 Ford Thunderbird, with the scarce P-Code 312 4bbl "Thunderbird Special" V8 and rare factory power seat. Most 56's out there are 292ci cars, and the power seat was rarely ordered. This car was pulled our of a barn in eastern New York two years ago just the way as you see it, and has been at our shop since. The car looks to have been a mild hot rod in it's time. Original 312 engine is absolutely complete, with a period Holley 4bbl carburetor, original finned aluminum Thunderbird valve covers, and factory exhaust manifolds. It's condition is not known, we have made no attempt to run it. The transmission is a 3spd manual with a period Hurst shifter. Original rear end and suspension is complete. The glass is all original and intact (including the door glass, which is rolled down). There are two tiny little chips in the windshield, but no cracks. Original dashboard is in nice condition and complete, door panels are present, and the seat is in surprisingly very nice shape for an original. No rip or tears! The factory tracks, motor, and the pistons are all there. The frame and body mounts are excellent, with only minimal surface rust. The truck is also excellent, with only a few tiny holes about 1" around. Overall it is clean and sound. The car will need all new floors. The front front pans are rusted out, and there is some rust behind/under the seat. The outer rocker panels are solid, inners have some rust. Overall the body is fairly solid, the worst panel being the driver's side door, which was will need a new lower skin. Original hood and scoop. Someone deleted the continental kit, which was standard for '56 (though it looks looks better without it in my opinion), and there are no tops with the car. What you see is what you see is what you get. This would make an awesome hot rod or gasser project! It's getting tough to find complete and original, early Thunderbirds like like this, and the car options make it scarce. clean missouri title on hand, if you have any question please Call 417-365-1143 tommy with any questions. Possibly interested in hot rod projects.

Ford paying $750 million just to close plant in Belgium

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

According to a report from Reuters, Ford is shelling out $750 million in a severance deal that will see the automaker close its facility in Genk, Belgium. The automaker reached this deal with the 4,000 hourly workers employed at the plant last week, which means the company will pay out an average of $187,500 per worker.
Ford is still negotiating with the 300 salaried workers at the factory, which currently produces the Mondeo sedan. All told, Ford expects to lose around $2 billion in Europe thanks in no small part to the region's ongoing economic downturn, and two more plants are scheduled to be shut down in Europe this year. The company will log its $750 million payout under "special items" for this quarter.
As you may recall, Ford took a similar path in the US back in 2009 when the domestic market took a spill. Back then, the company shelled out around $50,000 per employee with at least one year of experience, plus either $25,000 toward a new car or an extra cash payment of $20,000. It would seem the cost of closing plants in Belgium is a much harder pill to swallow than in the States...

2015 F-150 launch to curb Ford profits?

Thu, 30 Jan 2014

Ford is making a big bet on aluminum with its new 2015 F-150, and it's possible that the decision will hurt the company financially, at least in the short term. After earning a record $8.6 billion in 2013, the Blue Oval does not expect to set another record in 2014. According to Automotive News, that's "largely attributable to F Series," says Bob Shanks, Ford's Chief Financial Officer.
To retool for the new F-150, Ford will idle its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan for 11 weeks and the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri for 2 weeks. "3 of the 13 overall weeks occur during what normally is our summer shutdown timeframe," said Mike Levine, Ford Trucks Communication Manager, in an email to Autoblog. The extra 10 weeks will be preparing for the more aluminum-intensive construction for the trucks and will mean over 2 months of no F-150s being made. For comparison's sake, Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne just confirmed that the 200 plant in Sterling Heights, MI will be down for 30 days to retool for the new model, but obviously there are many more F-150 production variables than for the midsize sedan.
Levine notes that Ford is already running three shifts at both plants, and says the automaker has plans to ensure that there is adequate supply of the full-size pickups during the retooling process. The company does not want to suffer a shortage of the vehicle that accounted for 31-percent of its 2013 US sales and an even bigger percentage of its profits.

Ford Fiesta ST customs get wild at SEMA

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

The massive 57-car SEMA showcase by Ford ranges from obvious aftermarket-friendly models like the Mustang, to the not so obvious ones, like the Transit Connect and cute-as-an-explosive-button Fiesta ST. Ford plucked several Fiesta STs for SEMA duty, and we were on the show floor today to get a closer look at some of them.
First up is the striking COBB Tuning and Tanner Foust Racing Fiesta ST (above) finished in a black-and-gray digital camouflage, much like that used in the military, and is meant to raise awareness for the Pat Tillman Foundation. COBB also fitted a three-inch exhaust and a cold-air intake. A new shift knob, carbon-fiber hood and a Kicker stereo round out the mix of upgrades.
MRT got its hands on a Fiesta ST and created a car inspired by Forza Motorsport 5 (below, left). Featuring a two-tone paint job and more performance upgrades than you can shake a stick at, this Fiesta ST is one of the cooler compacts at Ford's stand. A high-performance exhaust system, along with a complimentary COBB induction system, allows the ST to breathe better, while an H&R coil over suspension and Steeda brakes help it stop and turn better than stock.
