1966 Ford Thunderbird Base Hardtop 2-door 6.4l, T-bird, Custom, Hot Rod, Rat Rod on 2040-cars
Kannapolis, North Carolina, United States
1966 Ford Thunderbird. Nice black on black. 390 cu in engine. Freshly rebuilt 3 speed automatic transmission. All original interior still looks good and would be considered driver quality. Paint is only a few years old, not a wet sanded and buffed clear coat finish, but is of nice driver quality as well. This is not a show car but a very nice driver that will need a few items taken care of to be enjoyed to its fullest. I can find no rust in this car at all. Floors, Trunk, Doors, and the rest of the body all very solid. All the tires are in great shape, with the spare being new. The trunk has tight weave black carpet glued in place, giving the trunk a finished look. Has new window whisker strips installed. Rear fender skirts are in the trunk. Now for the negatives ; Drivers window stopped working, and I have not checked to see if it is the switch or the motor. Has two small mufflers on the duel exhaust that are a little to loud for my liking. AC works, but pump is a bit noisy. Car pulls to one side when driving, and will need power steering adjusted. I do not know if the millage is correct or is over one hundred thousand miles. Most of the exterior chrome is in need of rechrome if you want it show quality. That's it, a great cruise night driver that can be worked on while you enjoy it. Pease ask questions before bidding I want you to be happy with your purchase.

Ford's Mulally makes shortlist for Microsoft CEO
Fri, 08 Nov 2013Ford CEO Alan Mulally has made the short list to take over tech giant Microsoft, lending further credence to rumors that the 68-year-old former Boeing exec would ditch Dearborn and move to Redmond.
The report comes from Reuters, which claims that alongside Mulally, former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and three candidates from within Microsoft are on the short list to succeed Steve Ballmer at the company's helm, although previous reports claim the Ford exec is the number one candidate. Mulally is currently working without a contract, although Bill Ford seems to believe that he isn't likely to depart. Despite this belief, Ford was quoted just last month talking about the depth of talent on the Blue Oval's executive team.
"There is no change from what we announced last November. Alan remains fully focused on continuing to make progress on our One Ford plan. We do not engage in speculation," said Ford spokesman Jay Cooney.
Ford to build Explorer in Russia to meet demand [w/video]
Fri, 12 Apr 2013The current Ford Explorer is sold in more than 64 countries, and this three-row vehicle continues to grow in popularity worldwide. To keep up with demand, Ford began producing the Explorer at Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant in Tatarstan, Russia, a joint venture facility. This partnership will build Russian-market Explorers only, and production of export vehicles not destined for Russian buyers will continue to be built at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago.
Before this plant went online, Ford would ship Explorers to Russia (and other regions around the world) as partially assembled knock-down units where final assembly would eventually take place. While there is no indication as to how many Explorers Ford Sollers will build for Russia, Ford did add that exports of the SUV were up 65 percent last year (from 2011) accounting for more than 24,000 units.
Scroll down for a press release about the Russian Explorer as well as a video (bad music and all) showing the SUV being produced in Tatarstan.
Automakers' rush on aluminum may result in shortage
Thu, 13 Feb 2014Aluminum is the new buzzword in the automotive industry. The latest Range Rover and Range Rover Sport both take advantage of the lightweight material to shave huge amounts of body fat (only it's called "aluminium" over there). Audi and Jaguar have been using the stuff for years in their A8 and XJ, respectively, and now, aluminum is going mainstream, arriving on the 2015 Ford F-150.
While we're excited to see aluminum make an impact outside the premium market, its widespread adoption apparently won't come without some problems, notably in terms of supply. "There isn't an automotive manufacturer that makes vehicles in North America that we're not talking to," Tom Boney, of Novelis, the largest global supplier of aluminum sheetmetal, told The Detroit News.
According to Boney, Ford's use of aluminum on such a large scale has forced auto manufacturers in "every boardroom" to reconsider their plans following the F-150's unveiling, for one simple reason: there's not exactly enough aluminum to go around, at least in the short term. The auto industry presently only accounts for six percent of the aluminum sheet produced, but as the material is adopted by more and more brands, that figure is expected to swell to 25 percent within the next six years.
