I am selling a 1977 Ford Thunderbird that was my grandfathers. It has very low miles for the year, it is loaded with I believe every option that was available for these cars. It may be a Landau but I am not for sure as I don't know specifics on the Thunderbirds. It does need some TLC, he had it sitting under a carport but it still ended up getting some rust spots especially around the trunk lid and some on the lower quarters. The top will need replaced as well. It starts and runs and drives, everything runs out fine, it was on the street and taken on trips around 4 years ago. It does need a fuel sending unit as the old gas had eaten away the old filter screen, we put a cloth to replace the screen but I would recommend just buying a new sending unit with a new fuel pickup screen. Other than that, everything even the windows work fine, the AC needs charged so I can't tell if the compressor clutch is good or not. This car could be driven while you restore it, its a nice piece of Ford history and with very low miles. If you have any questions, please let me know, I encourage you to come test drive it or look at in person before bidding, I can provide video of it running and even do a roadtrip video if you would like in lieu of you coming to look at it. Ford Q3 pretax profits drop to $1.18B
Fri, 24 Oct 2014Following positive third quarter financial results recently from General Motors, rival Ford took a tumble in Q3. The automaker posted pre-tax profits of $1.18 billion, compared to about $2.59 billion in Q3 2013, a drop of around 54 percent. Net income also suffered with $835 million made in the quarter, versus $1.272 billion last year, a decline of about 34 percent. The Blue Oval blamed the gloomy figures on three reasons in its release: "lower volume, higher warranty costs and adverse balance sheet exchange effects."
There were problems of one kind or another in practically every region. North America experienced higher warranty costs than expected, partially due to recalls. The sales volume for the quarter was 665,000 units, versus 725,000 in Q3 2013, and pre-tax results amounted to $1.41 billion versus $2.296 billion last year.
South America and Europe both posted worse pre-tax results than last year. On the bright side, European volume was up slightly to 321,000 vehicles, from 303,000 in Q3 2013. The Middle East and Africa also lost $15 million, but that was an improvement compared to the $25 million loss previously experienced in this region.

How the Ford Shelby Mustang came to be
Fri, 20 Sep 2013Even as rumors swirl that the next-generation of high-performance Ford Mustang will drop the Shelby name, Ford has released a short video telling how the legend of the Shelby Mustang came to be. In its latest installment of its video series entitled Mustang Countdown, Ford dug up some footage from Carroll Shelby to give a little insight into how this automotive icon was created.
While it's definitely interesting to hear the late legend tell the story in his own words (including numerous references to the 1964 Mustang as a "secretary's car"), it's also pretty funny learning exactly how the Shelby GT350 got its name in the first place - a name allegedly making a comeback as the replacement for the current Shelby GT500. As development work continues on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the Shelby video posted below shows that the automaker is always looking at its past - even as it looks ahead to the future.
