THIS 1961 THUNDERBIRD HAS BEEN TOTALLY GROUND UP RESTORED. IT CAME FROM NEW JERSEY WHERE IT WAS IN STORAGE FOR 20 YEARS. IT HAD VERY MINOR RUST IN THE LOWER REAR QUARTERS THAT WAS REPLACED WITH NEW STEEL. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY RUST IN THE FRONT FENDERS, DOORS FLOOR, OR TRUNK. THE ENGINE WAS BORED .030 OVER WITH NEW PISTONS AND A 390 GT CAM FOR A MUSCLE CAR SOUND. IT STILL IDLES SMOOTH FOR USE OF THE REBUILT AUTOMATIC. IT HAS RECHROMED SHOW QUALITY BUMPERS, NEW UPHOLSTERY, HEADLINER, DASH PAD, AND CARPETS. ALL FRONT END PARTS WERE REPLACED AS WELL AS ALL BRAKE PARTS. THIS IS A PROFESSIONALLY DONE RESTORATION AND BODY SHOP URTHANE PAINT WITH CLEARCOAT. ALSO HAVE THE FENDERSKIRTS THAT WERE PAINTED AT THE SAME TIME. VERY NICE CAR.

And the Top Gear UK Cars of the Year for 2013 are...
Tue, 17 Dec 2013Those loony Brits at Top Gear have named their Car of the Year, and if you're thinking it's the McLaren P1, Jaguar F-Type, Land Rover Range Rover Sport or Rolls-Royce Wraith, we're sorry to inform you that none of those Anglo automobiles earned the crown. In fact, the winner of Top Gear's most prestigious award is quite the surprise.
Of course, those cars weren't without their own awards. The P1 was the top hypercar (sorry, Porsche 918 and Ferrari LaFerrari), while the F-Type netted best convertible and the Range Rover Sport was voted SUV of the Year. Other honorable mentions included the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black and S-Class, the Porsche 911 GT3, the BMW i3 and the Ferrari 458 Speciale. The winner, though, wasn't even a high-dollar supercar. It was the Ford Fiesta ST.
Yes, the Fiesta ST beat out some off-the-wall cars like the revolutionary Volkswagen XL1 and the bonkers Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak, not to mention all the cars we listed above, to take the title of Top Gear Car of the Year. And if you've driven one, you'll completely understand why.
Ford Mustang EcoBoost has fake engine soundtrack
Wed, 24 Sep 2014The 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost represents a huge change for the Blue Oval as the first pony car in decades to be available with a four-cylinder engine. But a recent tweet (below) from Road & Track raised our curiosity about the new vehicle. Editor Jason Cammisa pulled a fuse while driving the latest 'Stang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, and he found that both the stereo and engine went quiet in the cabin. That indicated the coupe might have some form of artificial engine sound being piped in - a feature not previously heavily reported for the model. Autoblog spoke with Ford engineer Shawn Carney who confirmed that only the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang comes with this system, called Active Noise Control.

Evo grabs Ford's Fiesta R5 rally car by the scruff
Wed, 04 Sep 2013Evo and host Henry Catchpole were thinking of excuses reasons to borrow the bonkers Ford Fiesta R5 rally car for a day or two, when it struck them: the car is street legal. With access to the R5, some of the world's most beautiful driving roads in the English Lake Country nearby, and a handy video crewing hanging around, the plan seemed to write itself.
Based on the resulting video, it was a good plan. Without spoiling the video for you - something we can't really do in text as the best part is listening to the rally car run - Catchpole finds the Fiesta to be sublimely quick and massively satisfying. Even taking the car for a spin on a pseudo rally stage, after leaving the English countryside, does nothing but add to his assessment of the beastly little Ford.
