Project 1968 Torino Gt Formal Roof on 2040-cars
Cordova, Tennessee, United States
You are bidding on my 1968 Torino GT 2 door Hard Top project car. It started life as a small block automatic. Candy Apple Red factory color. I have upgraded the drivetrain to include a 390 8V with comp cam, lifters and timing gear, hardened pushrods, factory ford 8v dual quad intake, Holley 3310's, Hooker Headers, 14 bolt poor mans GT heads, Aluminum radiator, electric fan, Cobra air cleaner and valve covers, Aluminum racing flywheel, Hays HD Clutch, Tilton clutch cylinder, pull type hydraulic clutch, Flow Master 3" mufflers and pipes exiting in front of 9" ford with 4:11 posi gears, Transmission is a World Class T5 with an adapter plate to mate to a factory bell housing. I was planning on running a factory CJ top loader but the cost is a bit high and do not want to spend the money however the car is set up to do this just a new driveshaft if this is the way you want to go. I have replaced the entire front end suspension, still running drums all around but there are kits to upgrade to all discs and still use the factory GT 14"rims which look great as a sleeper/stock rim. All new Firestone Indy rubber including the spare, Body is solid with some repairs made to the floor pan, Leather power seats front and rear from an Audi which are very comfortable. All together this is a solid project car for the right person. Just ran out of budget and interest is flowing to other projects however if money was available discs, a top loader, and body completion was my direction. I have a clean title, a very low reserve however if the high bidder is close I will let it go if it does not meet the reserve. Best of luck and Happy Bidding. I can provide more pics upon request. |

The 2015 Ford Mustang is not so mellow in yellow
Tue, 14 Jan 2014When we first saw the 2015 Ford Mustang, much was made of its new, more expressive color palette, which includes the return of both yellow and orange in addition to a new grayish shade, Guard. At that time, we didn't have anything to look at but a few small scale models painted in the new colors - the only Mustangs on display were in Race Red.
For its auto show debut here at in the Motor City, Ford has trotted out a couple of as-yet-unseen shades, including the striking Triple Yellow shown above. The new shade marks a return to a paint color that enthusiasts have been clamoring for, and we must say, it looks excellent under the lights of Cobo Hall.
Stat wise, there are still a number of questions we have about the redesigned Mustang. None of the three engines have had official power figures published. The same goes for pricing information, although if any loose-lipped execs let something slip in Detroit, we'll be sure to let you know. Until then, have a look at the new Triple Yellow Mustang on display at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
1969 Ford Talladega GPT Special is a SEMA showstopper
Thu, 07 Nov 2013Rad Rides by Troy has unleashed upon the SEMA crowds this custom 1969 Ford Torino Talladega GT Special, and it's a beauty. The car calls to mind the classic Holman Moody stock cars that circled NASCAR tracks in the late 1960's, driven by the likes of Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney and David Pearson, who won the Grand National title in both 1968 and '69 in a Ford Torino.
Even though it has plenty of stock-car influence, there's nothing retro about the car's design or powertrain, other than the fact that the engine is based on a Ford Boss 429 block. Fuel injection, aftermarket aluminum heads and a high-tech custom computer system combine to send 750 reliable ponies to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Brakes measure 14-inches all around, with six-piston Wilwood calipers up front and four-piston units out back.
There's custom bodywork abound, painted in a two-tone Tennessee Whiskey Gold and Daytona Sand finish. Check out all the amazing details in the image gallery below, and scroll down to read all about it in designer Troy Trepanier's own words.
Ford investing $500M in engine plant for 2.7L EcoBoost production
Sun, 30 Mar 2014Ohio is a hot area for Ford at the moment with the announcement just a few weeks ago that production of the next-generation F-650/F-750 medium-duty trucks would move from Mexico to the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. Now, Ford is investing $500 million to hire 300 workers at its Lima Engine Plant in Lima, Ohio, to add production of the twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 for the 2015 F-150.
The latest investment will be used to add a new flexible engine assembly system and renovate 700,000 square feet of the plant for machining and assembly areas. The Lima factory already builds Ford's 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter Duratec V6 engines. The plant opened in 1957, and it's on track to build its 40 millionth engine later this year.
Ford claims that the 2.7-liter EcoBoost will offer V8 performance with better efficiency in the F-150. It comes standard with intelligent stop/start that doesn't activate when the truck is towing or in four-wheel drive, and it's made from a combination of compacted graphite iron and aluminum for low weight and high strength. The company says that V6 engines have already proven popular in the F-150 with 57 percent of trucks in 2014 being equipped with either the naturally aspirated 3.7-liter or turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines.
