1999 Gmc Sierra 1500 Sle Extended Cab Pickup 3-door 5.3l on 2040-cars
Ottsville, Pennsylvania, United States
For sale is this clean 1999 GMC Sierra pickup truck. It was purchased in 2007 with 125,000 miles and has had its oil changed every ~3,000 miles. Since 2008, this truck has had piston slap on cold start-ups. This noise goes away after initial warm-up - see video - and otherwise runs/shifts/sounds good. Within the last 25,000 miles, the spark plugs/wires, fuel pump, heater core, disk brake rotors, brake pads, parking brake shoes and backing plates, rear (chrome) bumper, air conditioning compressor, and belts have ALL been replaced - spark plug wires and backing plates with OEM parts. The tires were replaced roughly 12,000 miles ago (in 2011). All brake lines, including one rear hose, were replaced two months ago.
[From above] - This vehicle was in a front-end collision during 2011 which deployed the air bags - no longer installed in the steering wheel or dash. The front bumper, grill, hood, right front fender, and side mirrors were replaced. The right front fog light is missing its lens. The side mirrors do NOT adjust electrically. The frame/front end were checked by an experienced frame shop and interpreted as square/tight/aligned. A large scrape still exists on the right rear quarter panel (from a street sign). The tow/haul mode does NOT work - wire visible through rubber boot is broken (again). The gas gauge has a delayed response to fuel added to the tank; it does, eventually, after several miles/start-ups, read correctly. There is rust showing on both rear fender wells and in the bed - where at least two visible, dime-size holes exist. The seat on the driver's side does NOT recline - handle is missing. There are minor scratches in the paint - SEE PICTURES. A new PA inspection/emissions (through 1/15) will be performed this Tuesday - 11/26 - ensuring that it will be ready for you. Although not to be addressed in the state inspection, the mechanic who replaced the brake lines (a couple months ago) commented that the fuel line should be replaced; it shows signs of corrosion. See the PICTURE of the original window sticker for complete details about the features/options on this truck - including (comfortable) hi-back bucket seats, an off-road chassis equipment package, and a heavy duty trailering package. I must say that over the last 6 years/50,000 miles, this has been a valuable/reliable truck for me. I simply do not have the need for it any longer and am looking for a vehicle with much greater than this truck's ~15 mpg fuel economy.

2013 GMC Acadia Denali
Wed, 05 Jun 2013Refreshed, Not Refreshing
I'm probably ill-suited to accurately and fairly take the full measure of a vehicle like the 2013 GMC Acadia Denali. This is a machine conjured around the express notion of corralling and then herding a brood of rafter-swinging hatchlings to and fro in relative comfort, and with no such passel of wee Bowmans to call my own, it's difficult to give this rig a fair shake. While I can certainly weigh cargo capacity, legroom and fuel economy stats with the best of them, I'd be lying to your face if I said the word "crossover" didn't urge some uncontrollable Pavlovian recoil from the murky recesses of my frame. To put it simply, I just can't stand the damn things.
As a rule, the segment is built on a bed of compromise. Manufacturers love nothing more than to spin up a tired yarn about the virtues of this particular neck of the market. We're told the crossbreeds deliver all the ride quality, driving dynamics and fuel economy of a car married with the seating position, capability and interior volume of the SUV set. That all sounds as swell as a sunset, but as the 2013 Acadia Denali so artfully illustrates, the advertising on the box is rarely congruous with the prize inside. Even with an imaginary squad of younglings at my heels, the refreshed luxury crossover doesn't quite manage to scratch the promised itches.
GM expanding Lansing Lambda CUV plant
Thu, 30 Oct 2014Considering that crossovers are a rapidly growing portion of the US auto market, it's not surprising to hear that General Motors is preparing to build even more of them. The company is investing $63 million to expand its Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant that builds Lambda platform CUVs like the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave.
According to GM, the expansion will add roughly 263,000 extra square feet of space to the plant. Of that, 181,000 square feet will be for an updated body shop with cutting-edge robots. There will also be 54,000 square feet of additional room in the paint shop and 28,000 square feet of more area for general assembly.
GM isn't saying as much, but there is the possibility that this extra space could allow for additional models produced at the factory. Cadillac reportedly dropped plans to build a three-row SUV on the Lambda platform earlier this year, however, dealers for the luxury brand were recently pitched the possibility of adding large and small CUVs, an ATS convertible or a sedan below the ATS.
2014 Chevy Silverado High Country spied wearing trappings of new luxury trim
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Spy photographers have spotted the new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali out on public streets for a little testing. From the looks of things, the Silverado will receive a much-differentiated front fascia along with special badges and those honking 20-inch chrome wheels. Expect to find a more posh interior as well. Likewise, the Sierra Denali will wear a tweaked nose with the familiar Denali bling. The one of the GMC trucks spotted here rolls on 21-inch gunmetal wheels instead of the 20-inch chrome pieces of the High Country.
Word has it both trucks will go on sale after the Texas State Fair this summer. While General Motors hasn't said for certain what we can expect to find under the hood, we'd be surprised to see anything outside of the range of engines found in the standard Silverado and Sierra models. That means buyers should be able to get their hands on the efficient, 23-miles per gallon 5.3-liter V8.
