1979 Gmc; Sierra Classic 35; Camper Special; 1 Ton Dually; on 2040-cars
Prescott, Arizona, United States
You are looking at a garage stored (when not being used) desert survivor. This truck has never been in a wreck. I bought this truck in 1980 from the original owner. Was purchased new in PHX and has been in AZ its whole life. The only body part that has been replaced is the right side fiberglass fender. A tire blowout took it out. It was replaced with a GM Fender. You read that right, the body is completely GM, not a P.O.S. that sat for 10 years and got restored out of a catalog with garbage parts. When it was repainted 10 years ago the front bumper was re-chromed, not replaced with tin junk. This truck even has the original tire jack and lug wrench. This truck has been maintained, not restored. Being that it is driven and does not sit much it is not perfect but VERY NICE. In 1998 the original engine (at 271k mi.) was replaced with a 1991 4-bolt 454 that was bored 30 and forged pistons were installed. Otherwise built stock. In 2008 the original transmission was replaced with a 4L80E. At that time I installed a GM throttle body injection system and ECM to go with the electronics in the trans. Yes, it does have the ALDL port for diagnostics. This is the classic beauty you want hauling your trailer Queen to the show.
The camper is a Tri-Glas industries camper. It has the bed kit with side box storage, custom cabinet with independent stereo, and a high-end "Fantastic" brand vent fan. Here is a list of the toys on this truck::: Tilt Wheel L.E.D. Marker lights Electronic Cruise--no transducer Fog Lights Dual gas tanks Aux radiator cooling fan for desert driving Bench seat with fold down console Aux trans cooler and trans fluid temp gauge Lighted Visor Sanden SD-10 A/C compressor Dual Batteries Rear View mirror w/map lights Behind the seat toolbox wired with 12volt Aluminized dual exhaust 150 watt power inverter--hardwired Dakota Digital Dash Electronic Trailer brake controller Full Length Split running boards Power Door Locks w/2 remotes I challenge you to find a nicer one at any price..Let alone the $12,500 I am asking for this one. I have nothing to hide and encourage you ask questions if I have missed something. Either e-mail me through e-bay or call me at 602-228-9420. I am also willing to take more/different pics if you would like. I also would encourage an independent inspection if you are not used to buying a used vehicle and want an impartial opinion. For the cost of fuel and a plane ticket home I will personally drive this fabulous truck to you (after full payment). |

GM expanding Lansing Lambda CUV plant
Thu, 30 Oct 2014Considering that crossovers are a rapidly growing portion of the US auto market, it's not surprising to hear that General Motors is preparing to build even more of them. The company is investing $63 million to expand its Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant that builds Lambda platform CUVs like the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave.
According to GM, the expansion will add roughly 263,000 extra square feet of space to the plant. Of that, 181,000 square feet will be for an updated body shop with cutting-edge robots. There will also be 54,000 square feet of additional room in the paint shop and 28,000 square feet of more area for general assembly.
GM isn't saying as much, but there is the possibility that this extra space could allow for additional models produced at the factory. Cadillac reportedly dropped plans to build a three-row SUV on the Lambda platform earlier this year, however, dealers for the luxury brand were recently pitched the possibility of adding large and small CUVs, an ATS convertible or a sedan below the ATS.
2015 GMC Canyon is a Chevy Colorado in Sierra clothing [w/video]
Sun, 12 Jan 2014Ford may not offer the Ranger in America anymore, nor Dodge (or Ram) its Dakota. But General Motors - not unlike Toyota with its Tacoma and Nissan with the Frontier - isn't about to give up on the midsize pickup market. Less than two months ago, it revealed the new Chevrolet Colorado, and now it's following up with its mechanical twin, the 2015 GMC Canyon.
Launched today ahead of its reveal at the Detroit Auto Show, the Canyon slots into the GMC lineup (and differentiates itself from its Chevrolet twin) with styling that closely apes the larger GMC Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD, only a size or two smaller. Oh, there are visual differences, like a subtly different grille treatment and lower fascia, but it still maintains its big brother's square-jawed good looks and rectilinear flared fenders.
Two aluminum-block engines with direct injection and variable valve timing are available: a 2.5-liter inline-four comes standard with 193 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and a 3.6-liter V6 is available with 302 hp and 270 lb-ft. Buyers will also be able to choose between three bodystyle configurations, three trim levels and either two- or four-wheel drive. A six-speed automatic transmits the power to the road, but a six-speed manual is available on the base model with the 2.5 and 2WD, and there's an All Terrain package available on SLE models. A diesel is expected later.
Chevy Express 1500, GMC Savana 1500 get the axe
Tue, 15 Jul 2014Fans of truck-based, light-duty vans can officially pour one out for the Chevrolet Express 1500 and GMC Savana 1500, as General Motors has officially put its long-serving big/little rigs out to pasture. Things aren't quite as sad as they sound, though. The heavier-duty 2500 and 3500 vans will soldier on, in order to duke it out with the largest members of Ram ProMaster, Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter families.
The move does seem to make a lot of sense. According to GM, customers only purchase the 1500-spec Chevrolet 23 percent of the time, while the GMC captures a mere 7 percent of the Savana family's sales. With numbers like that, it's no shock that GM thinks it can shift some of its buyers into its van family's more capable variants. "We knew we could move a lot of our 1500 customers into 2500-series territory," said GM's Joe Langhauser, the product manager for the company's full-size vans.
It's not just simple sales figures dictating the move, though. The 1500 line is taking up some valuable factory space that will be better spent on an eagerly anticipated new product.
