I bought this truck new. It has been a super truck. Last week it broke down for me. Had it towed in and checked out. Sad to say they found a broken crankshaft in the engine. I am told this is not a known problem with the Duramax engine. The garage told me it has nothing to do with what I did or didn't do. Just a freak happening. The truck has been serviced regularly and taken care of very well (look at the pics). I have decided to sell the truck with bad engine instead of fixing it. (my pain your gain!) The truck was running strong and I know of no other problems. It has the allison transmission which from my experience is bulletproof. It is a loaded truck as you see from the pics. Also including pics of the window sticker from when I purchased the truck. There are no tears in the leather seats. The carpet is stain free. Interior very clean. The exterior has a few chips and scratches here and there but very few for truck with 150,000 miles. And none that are very noticeable. There is a dent on the hood and one on left rear fender. (see pics) I would guess they could be pulled out. Also a couple weeks ago we lost the left rear chrome wheel cover ring. You will notice this in the pics also. I included a lot of pics so take a good look. The truck has a lot of life yet. I am selling the truck as is. Take it home and repair or replace engine and you will have a good strong, running truck. You will need to pick it up or we can work out delivery. I can send more pics if needed. I would be glad to answer any questions you have. Thanks for looking.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra debut all-new designs, three new engines

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

General Motors has finally dropped the curtain on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra. Both trucks have undergone substantial revisions with updated versions of the company's 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 engines. In a shot across the bows of both Ford and Chrysler, GM says it won't use a V6 engine adapted from passenger car applications. Instead, it developed the 4.3-liter engine based on its proven truck-duty architecture.
All three mills will boast direct injection fuel systems as well as a new cylinder head design. Combined with a revised piston, the new engines feature a smaller combustion chamber with a compression ratio of 11:1 or higher depending on the application. Cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing are all part of the recipe, and each engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with auto grade breaking. So far, no fuel economy or horsepower figures have been released, though GM says the new engines will best their predecessors in both areas.
Outside, the trucks feature a number of enhancements to reduce drag and wind noise, and GM claims both the Silverado and Sierra will offer buyers some of the quietest cabins in the class. Extended cab models now feature front-hinged rear doors to allow easier access to the back passenger area, and Crew Cab buyers can now select between a five-foot, eight-inch bed or a six-foot, six-inch bed. Buyers with a mind toward going off road will also rejoice in the return of the Z71 package, complete with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and additional under-body protection.

Watch GM's new pickup crash its way to five-star NHTSA ratings

Thu, 09 Jan 2014

General Motors has just scored a big win with its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, acing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration New Car Assessment Program. The two full-size trucks had already netted a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in their crew-cab variants, but the new testing certifies them as five-star trucks in both regular and double-cab bodystyles, so GM's trucks offer top ratings across the board.
"Our incredibly capable trucks have been engineered to be some of the safest," Gay Kent, GM's general director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness said. "We've designed the vehicle structure, strategically placed high-strength steel and developed the occupant restraint system to achieve high levels of safety performance."
The scores mark the Silverado and Sierra as the first pickups to net five-star scores since NHTSA beefed up their testing regime in 2011, a nice feather in GM's cap as it continues to slug out the pickup truck wars with crosstown rivals Ford and Ram.

2015 Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon airbag problem causes recall

Tue, 14 Oct 2014

The recall affects 2,432 vehicles, though only 138 had actually reached consumers.
General Motors quickly fixed an airbag-wiring problem with the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, but is still conducting a small recall to repair the midsize trucks that are launching this fall.
