1999 Honda Accord Lx Coupe As Is on 2040-cars

Year:1999 Mileage:198000 Color: of the car is in overall good condition

Up for sale is a 1999 Honda Accord LX Coupe (2 Door) with approximately 198,000 miles.  I recently purchased a newer Accord and do not have the time (or desire) to fix the issues with thiscar.  I will try to describe the car as best I can so everyone knows exactly what they are bidding on.  I have been driving the car as a daily driver (mostly highway miles during my ownership), and it is fully operational - you can drive it home.  The car drives and runs fine, with only the minor issues noted below.  I have owned the car for about 2 years and have put on about 50k miles.  I have the title in hand, and it is a clear title.

The car has a manual transmission, a 2.3 Liter 4-cylinder engine and is front wheel drive.  The car has A/C, power windows and power locks.

The exterior of the car is in overall good condition.  The clear-coat was peeling off a few years ago and I had it repainted blue, as you can see.  The only minor issue on the exterior is some paint missing on the front bumper due to me pulling too far forward when parking into some icy snow.  There are no major dents, dings, scratches, etc on the car.

The interior of the car is in great, clean condition.  There are no stains, rips, tears, etc on the upholstery and the dash is in very good condition.  The only known issues on the inside of the car are that the bulbs that backlight the clock and radio are burned out, which doesn't really affect anything, it's just a little hard to see the buttons at night.  Two of the rear speakers seem to be blown out as well.

The manual transmission is operating great, there are no issues with the transmission that I have experienced.  The car always starts and the engine runs good for the most part, except as follows.  The check engine light is currently on (code P0171), which means the car is running lean (not getting enough fuel).  Due to this, the car hesitates under hard acceleration, and when returning to idle, the car shudders.  It does not really affect the drive-ability of the car, but it is a bit annoying.  There also seems to be a small oil leak on the driver's side of the engine, which has been there since I bought the car (it has not gotten any worse since I've owned it).  The CV joint also makes a clicking noise when I turn the car under full lock to the left.  I replaced one of the CV joints a few months ago, so I'm guessing the other one also needs to be replaced now.

The car has new all-season tires on it (maybe a few thousand miles on them).  The suspension, alignment and balancing of the wheels all seem good to me.

In summary, the car is in overall good condition, with a few minor issues that are easy to fix.  It would be great for a daily driver or project car.  Feel free to ask any questions prior to bid.   If you want to see the car, I am located in central CT and could arrange for a viewing / test drive.  Good luck and happy bidding!

NOTE - I have described every issue that I know of on the car to the best of my ability - I am not a mechanic.  I do guarantee that the car is perfectly drive-able at the moment, however I am selling the car in "AS IS" condition.

Honda favoring turbo over hybrid for US-market Vezel

Fri, 20 Dec 2013

While Honda gears up to unveil the new Fit to the US market at the Detroit Auto Show next month, back in its home market, the car's crossover cousin is just going on sale. The Vezel was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show last month and already has a three-month waiting list in Japan, where Honda projects that 90 percent of customers will opt for the hybrid version. Not so in the United States, however.
When the Vezel reaches American showrooms, there'll be a number of key differences. For starters, it will carry a different name, though Honda isn't saying what that will be. For another, it will be built for North American consumption at Honda's new plant in Mexico, roughly half of whose production capacity is reportedly being allocated to the new crossover. And finally, it'll have a different engine.
In Japan the Vezel is being offered with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, with or without electric assist. Honda won't offer the hybrid version here - at least not initially - but it is preparing to offer a turbo option. Although it has yet to announce US specifications and options, the 1.5-liter turbo four (also unveiled at the Tokyo show) is considered a stronger likelihood than the 1.0- or 2.0-liter versions.

Honda Ridgeline to take two-year dirt nap before resurrection

Sun, 14 Jul 2013

Three years ago, Honda said there would be no new-generation Honda Ridgeline coming in 2011. In late 2011, when there was still no word on a replacement for the little truck that's been carrying on pretty much the same since 2006, within the space of a month both Honda's US truck planner and the CEO of American Honda said the Ridgeline would continue and that it was an integral part of the lineup.
But that doesn't mean it can't take a two-year timeout. A report in Ward's Auto says that the Lincoln, AL plant that builds the Ridgeline will cease its production in September, 2014 and a new one won't arrive until 2016. That's a walk-back from when the plan was to have the current truck run until a week before the next-generation truck went into production. Even so, Honda still says the Ridgeline isn't going away forever, a company spokesman telling Ward's, "Ridgeline continues to be an important part of our lineup."
2016 is a long way away, though, and we all know how quickly a product line put into a coma can end up suffering fatal consequences. Even though we keep talking about the Ridgeline, perhaps what Honda is actually saying is that the small pickup market is important to them, and they're working on a way to take better advantage of it than the Ridgeline was doing. We'll find out one way or the other in three years.

Honda to dub Fit-based as HR-V for North America

Sun, 06 Apr 2014

You may remember it as the Urban SUV (pictured above) from when it debuted in concept form at the Detroit Auto Show last year, or know it as the Vezel as the production version was unveiled for the Japanese Domestic Market at the 2014 Tokyo Motor Show. But when Honda starts exporting its new Fit-based crossover - or better yet, building it in Mexico for North American consumption - it will be called the HR-V.
This news comes courtesy of Honda enthusiast forum Temple of VTEC. When contacted by Autoblog, Honda spokesmen declined to comment on the veracity of the report, saying only that it would "announce the name in the near future," but the handle fits with what we know about Honda's history with compact crossovers. The previous HR-V (which was not available in the States) was a high-riding, squared-off crossover built between 1999 and 2006 and based on the Fit's predecessor, the Honda Logo.
While the HR-V moniker might not have name recognition in North America, it would in Europe where Honda also hopes its new crossover will find eager customers. It will also fit in nicely below the CR-V that will continue on as the HR-V's larger stablemate.
