The finish still retains a nice shine. If you look close
you're bound to find some minor imperfections as you
would with any pre-loved vehicle, but nothing you'd need
to fuss with and certain nothing objectionable.
Color-Coded bumpers, mirrors, moldings, and spare tire
cover, along with Roof Rack, Alloy Wheels, and
Tastefully tinted Windows make this compact SUV... ONE
SHARP SUV.
The interior is subdued, comfortable,
thoughtfully designed, and nicely finished. Front
Leather bucket seats are in great shape, well contoured,
and spacious, split-folding rear seat backs can be
reclined, and Big mirrors provide excellent rearward
visibility. Honda's
concept is similar to Toyota's RAV-4, however the CR-V
is considerably bigger and roomier.
The Dark Gray Leather seating surfaces are in great
shape with no issues. The instruments are well-placed
and easy to read. It comes loaded with Power Options
that operate as designed. Ice Cold Air and a Brand New
AM/FM/CD add significantly to the comfort. A
handy tray with integrated cupholders flips up between
the front seats, two more cup holders slide out below
the climate controls, and there are an abundance of
storage pockets and bins located throughout.
For all its engaging
details, though, the most endearing trait of the
CR-V interior is its roominess. There's lots of
front headroom and legroom and plenty of rear
legroom. There's a sizable cargo space behind the
rear seats and rear seat backs flip and fold
individually to expand for even more space. The CR-V
even comes with a picnic table that stows in the
rear floor. Pop it out, flip down the legs and it's
party time.
The CR-V carries its spare tire on
a rack mounted on the tailgate and is mounted low
enough so that it doesn't interfere with vision to
the rear.
Good ride quality is a CR-V strong
suit. It's supple enough to absorb the nasty little
irregularities of rough pavement without excessive
compromise in handling response. We just had it
serviced and safety inspected. Tires are matching
radials with approximately 55% tread life remaining
so you're all set there.
The 2.0 liter DOHC 4
cylinder is near legendary. Plenty of power to "Zip"
you around town and easy on gas at the same time.
EPA rated at 19 city and 23 highway with individual
reports of up to MPGs on Fueleconomy.gov. Versatile, Economical,
and SHARP.....NICE!!
The Honda CR-V is an excellent piece
of work. It's much roomier than the RAV4 and its
all-around practicality and comfort make it one of

collectors office for sales tax credit. This does not apply
to vehicles shipped out of state, only ones picked up in

Although we hadn't heard of this issue before, Automotive News reports that Honda has agreed to settle a massive class-action lawsuit brought against it for engine trouble potentially affecting nearly 1.6 million vehicles. The lawsuit includes Accord (2008-12), Odyssey (2008-13), Pilot (2009-13) and Crosstour (2010-13) models equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 with Variable Cylinder Management, which might experience engine misfire, excessive oil burning and premature spark plug fouling issues. As part of the settlement, Honda will extend the powertrain warranty on these models for eight years (from time of purchase or lease) with no mileage limitation, and it will also reimburse customers who had to pay out-of-pocket expenses for related repairs such as spark plugs, pistons or, in some cases, apparently, an entirely new engine. (Of course, the repairs had to be related to certain trouble codes.) Lawyers will get no more than $800,000 from Honda and the guy who originally started the case, Vince Eagen, will get $1,000 for his "time and effort." The five top-selling brands in the automotive industry are usually Ford, Toyota, Chevy, Honda and Nissan, in that order. This lineup emerged intact when counting a year's worth of sales for 2013, and there was no reason to expect it would change at the beginning of 2014. But it did. Thanks to surging sales of its all-new Rogue, Nissan managed to pull ahead of Honda to become the fourth best-selling auto brand in January 2014, selling 81,472 units (an increase of 10.41 percent compared to January 2013) to Honda's 80,808 (a decrease of 3.96 percent). The Rogue led the way for Nissan, contributing an additional 4,880 units in January compared to the same month last year - a 54.5-percent increase for a grand total of 13,831 units. But the Rogue had help, with the Frontier pickup adding an extra 2,307 units (an 87.9-percent increase), the Juke an extra 1,081 units (a 45.8-percent increase), the Altima an extra 1,051 units (a 4.9-percent increase) and the Maxima an additional 983 units (a 32.9-percent increase). Honda, meanwhile, was hurt by falling sales of the Accord (down 13.9 percent) and Pilot (down 7.6 percent), and stagnant sales of the Civic. Honda, however, should take pride in the fact that it's luxury division, Acura, outsold Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, last month - 10,823 units sold to 8,998. That margin of victory was large enough to keep the parent company of American Honda ahead of Nissan North America for the month of January.

It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models. NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally. This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."
