55 MPG achieved! Thanks for checking out my posting. This is my personal 1992 Honda Civic VX. It is completely STOCK, and formerly owned by a college professor that took excellent care of the car. I have owned 3 Civic VX’s and this ONE has been my pride and joy. It is a great car and the tire treads are still very good! The seats do not have any tears. I am ONLY letting this go because I have a new job that requires frequent travel. I bought this car to save on gas as a daily driver and I have gotten up to 55 MPG on the highway. The car has clear coat fading away nearby the driver door, a scratch on the rear passenger panel, and normal minor dings/ scratches/ paint fade that come with age (nothing major). The Toyota Camry has long been our nation's best seller, while the Honda Accord has dutifully come in second place, like some sort of codependent Cal Naughton Jr. riding Ricky Bobby's back bumper.
There was that one year, 2001, when the Accord briefly broke the Camry's streak, marring what would today have been a 17-year-long run of best-selling car titles. The Accord pulled the opposite move in 2011, letting sales slip far enough to let not only the Toyota by, but the Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion, as well. Aside from those anomalies, the Camry and Accord have been first and second in this segment since before many of you readers could even drive.
It's 2014, and these frenemies have never before faced a threat to their world order as strong as today's class of family sedans. The aforementioned Altima and Fusion are perhaps the most capable challengers, but the Chevrolet Malibu, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Volkswagen Passat and Mazda6 are all capable of convincing new buyers to walk their way.
New death linked to Takata airbag crisis, Honda recalls 170k vehicles overseas
Sat, 15 Nov 2014The safety crisis surrounding Takata's exploding airbags continues to expand. In the latest revelation, Honda confirms another death linked to the faulty parts, and the company is expanding its recall of the components. However, none of the newly added vehicles are in the United States.
With the confirmation of this report, there are now five deaths linked to the faulty airbags. According to The New York Times, a pregnant woman in Malaysia was killed on July 27 in a 2003 Honda City when she crashed into another vehicle, and the inflator ruptured. This was the first announced case outside of the US.
The faulty part in the woman's car was reportedly made at a now-closed Takata factory in Georgia, according to the NYT, and it's the first known example from that location. In response, Honda recalled about 170,000 vehicles in Europe and Asia to replace the potentially bad inflators. The latest campaign brings the total number of recalled vehicles worldwide to around 14.3 million units.
