I am selling my 1999 Honda Civic Hatch to make room for a family car. I have owned it for 6 years with no issues.
Engine.
I have done a mini me swap with a Y8 head, manifold, fuel rail, injectors and air box. Has NO check engine issues and drives great (30 to 32 mpg). Head was shaved and Cometic head gasket was used to slightly increase compression.
Interior.
I have installed SI front seats and a momo wheel with working horn from a Pilot. Has a Honda CD player and alpine speakers. Everything is there and everything works. Foglights are for looks only. Passenger air bag delete tray.
Exterior.
Painted about 6 months ago with stock Honda color. All lights, badges, grille and trim were removed. New headlights and door trim installed. Has two or three small scratches but could be removed easily. There is a rust spot by driver door hinge about size of quarter. Easy fix. I removed rust and neutralized it and put primer. New windshield.
Suspension/Brakes/Rims and Tires.
KYB 5 way adjustable struts with coilover sleeves and springs skunk 2 camber kit. SI front and rear brakes with new power stop drilled/slotted rotors front and rear, new OEM pads front and rear, goodridge lines front and rear and new wheel bearings on the rear. Car has GREAT brakes. New Dunlop Dirizza tires on integra webs with Honda center caps. 4 wheel alighnment several months ago. This car drives straight and does not shake from 0 to 110mph while accelerating and braking. That's as fast as I go.
This is a great car and I HATE t sell it. I wanted to do a motor/tranny swap on it and I would be done, but have already replaced her with a four door. Two kids with long legs so we have outgrown her.
Feel free to call with any questions (251) 402-0876. Car is for sale locally as well.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?
Thu, 25 Sep 2014People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.
2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]
Wed, 12 Dec 20122012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:
2013 North American Car of the Year:
J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998
Wed, 12 Feb 2014For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.
