2000 Honda Insight, 5 Spd, 54.9 Mpg, Cold A/c, New Trans & Battery, No Rsrv! on 2040-cars
Elizabethtown, Kentucky, United States
Here it is! Our 2000 Honda Insight Hybrid car! We purchased this from the original owner, an older woman from Oklahoma about 2 years ago. Prior to our purchase, she had the transmission rebuilt, which as all you Insight fanatics know, is a bonus that has eliminated the grind when downshifting from third to second and from second to first. It also had a new battery put in in the last 3-5 years. The upholstery has also been redone. The former owner, as well as current owners…me) was very particular about this car, its upkeep and repair. It really shows! There are NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS on in the dash. Auto stop works correctly. Radio works. A/C IS ICE COLD!!! The battery charges and discharges well. Has a good boost. It is a 5 speed which gives better mileage (in my opinion) than the automatic. The lifetime is 54.9. My wife drove this for the last two years and gets mid 40's. She also loves the A/C, and driving quickly shall we say? On my way home from Oklahoma when I bought this, I was getting 72 mpg!!! This is our third Insight and I took great pride in trying to squeeze out every mile I could. These cars are very mpg sensitive, as you know, depending on use of a/c, wind, temperature, speed, additional passengers and extra weight in the hatchback area.
Here are some things you will want to know. Car will need new tires. Evenly worn, but down to the wear bars. Will need a new windshield. Has a crack in it which I showed in the pics. Only has one hatch lift and it is not quite enough to keep the hatch up. Needs another hatch lift. HEADLIGHTS ARE CLEAR because after the last buffing, the former owner put clear packing tape and they are still clear now. These are desirable little cars and this one can be purchased at your price! This is a no reserve auction starting at one penny! Lasts only five days. If you have any questions, email me with your number and I can call you and we'l talk. I've been on ebay for 14 years and have sold several vehicles as well as other items with a 100% feedback. Thanks for looking out my listing and good luck in the auction. |

Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]
Wed, 20 Aug 2014No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:
eBay Find of the Day: Why this motorcycle's a deal at $135k
Mon, 10 Feb 2014There can be no doubt that Soichiro Honda left a lasting legacy by lending his engineering talents to the company that bears his name. This can be said particularly of motorcycles, and the company outdid itself when it introduced the 1969 CB750. Widely considered the world's first superbike, it combined a then-powerful 67-horsepower, 736cc, inline four-cylinder engine and cutting edge tech for motorcycles at the time like an electric start and front disc brake. It is simply one of the most important motorcycles ever made, and now one of four handmade prototypes is up for auction on eBay Motors.
According to the seller, Honda had an idea that it had something special with the CB750 and built four preproduction models to be shown off to American media in 1968. Each one was hand-built by Honda technicians from bespoke components, and this blue/green model was photographed by magazines and for promotional material at the time. The seller believes that one of the four prototypes was destroyed, one is in Europe and one is unknown, which means this may be the only chance for collectors to get their hands on one.
The bike has prompted quite a bidding war with 97 bids registered as of this writing. With about seven hours left to go in the auction, the top big currently sits at $135,300. At this rate, things could get very exciting at the end. Although to own a prototype for the first super bike, it might be worth it.
Refreshed Honda Civic's first commercial is a minor mea culpa
Thu, 27 Dec 2012Honda has officially rolled out the first ad for the 2013 Civic. The one-minute spot focuses on a number of clever inventions that improve on old themes, from rocket-powered parachutes to hover bikes and smart window shades, before shifting to the redesigned compact. Set to Santigold's "Disparate Youth," the ad culminates with the phrase, "Things can always be better." This is likely as close as we'll come to hearing Honda say, "we could have done better."
Unveiled at the 2012 LA Auto Show, the 2013 Civic features revised front and rear fascias, nicer cabin materials and an updated suspension just one year after the ninth-generation model debuted. That car received scaling reviews from critics, most notably Consumer Reports, who felt the 2012 Civic was a step backwards for a company known for producing high-quality, economical vehicles. You can check out the full ad for the 2013 Civic below before it debuts during the Rose Bowl.
