If you want a very well cared for Southern, one owner, original mile, untampered with, true survivor, 5-speed Honda Insight, with no accidents and/or repainted or repaired body panels, read on!  I have owned 32 First Gen Honda Insights over the last 6 years or so.  I am not a dealer.  I am an obsessed insight fanatic (private owner.)  The improved upon later 2004-06 insights were only made in very limited quantities (production numbers only in the hundreds each year, and most were automatics :P)  These later insights were updated from the factory with new sport seats, more plush interior fabric, and an in-dash am/fm/cd player.)  This particular car is from Virginia.  You could eat off the underside of this car; it is literally that clean!  The body has no dents at all!  Every body panel has the correct VIN tag on it (both front fenders, hood, both doors, both quarter panels, rear hatch, front and back bumper covers.)  No panels have ever been replaced.  The car has never been in any kind of major accident, or this would be appearent with replacement panels lacking the correct vin numbers.  This is further evidenced by it's super clean carfax report.  There are no signs of any repaint on any of the panels either. The usual trim items that get sun baked are not (rear wing, steering wheel, headlights, exterior moldings, emblems, decals, etc, etc.)  Interior-wise, again, the car is real nice.  The seats are great and not worn through (in fact they show very little wear at all,) the steering wheel, headliner, door panels, floor carpeting, etc have no stains at all, and are all nice.  I totally steam cleaned the car's interior (as I do all my insights, but it hardly needed it.)  The carpet is super nice too, showing next to no wear at all.  All the rubber is perfect, (around the doors, rear hatch, hood, etc.  It has the correct brand (Bridgestone re92's) low rolling resistance tires, with at least 80% tread remaining.)   The car runs, drives, and shifts perfectly.  It is a super smooth rider.    The battery pack charges, discharges, and performs flawlessly.  I've wired the car for my digital grid charger (again, as I do all my insights,) and cycle the pack regularly (considering the car is stored and not being driven.)  For those not in the know, grid charging the pack peaks and equalizes the cells within the pack.  This is extremely good for the battery, and prolongs it's life and health greatly.  I WILL INCLUDE A BRAND NEW GRID CHARGER WITH THE CAR, FREE OF CHARGE; (A $700 VALUE!)  To read more about my grid chargers, see my ebay item # 301002355166.   The car has all the manuals, key and remote, and stereo cd code too.  Transmission-wise, it shifts perfectly with no synchro grind or bearing noise issues whatsoever.  The clutch and slave cylinder are pefect too.  I also just did the full oil and filter change with the correct Mobil1 0w-20 oil, as well. Accessory-wise, everything works exactly as it should; heater, blower fan, power windows and switches, power locks and switches, turn signals, every bulb inside and out, all the dash including the trip meter, horn, turn signals, stock Honda am/fm/cd stereo, (rare 4 speaker option, with great sound,) rear trunk release actuator, rear trunk lock, hatch struts, wipers, squirters, etc, etc.  Super clear, non-fogged headlights, etc, etc.  The only small cosmetic imperfections are a light stain on the rear trunk mat, and some scratches on the top of the rear bumper cover (looks like from loading something into the car at one point.)  No check engine lights at all, and (now) perfectly tuned for stupid (70+) mpg's on the highway!  I recently had the car fully New York State inspected, as required by law (includes all safety equipment, lights, brakes, emissions, computer, etc.)  It passed all with no problems whatsoever.  I have brand new floor mats for the car too (not shown in the pics, as I removed them to shoot the pics to show how nice the floor carpeting is!)  This car is the nicest example.  All underbody panels are in place and nice, too.  Zero rust.  All jack equipment and spare tire are in place and nice.  I have the clean and clear transferrable title, with no liens, in my name.  I have done a lot of work to this car to get it exactly where it should be, and as you see it now.  I do all my own work (over 30 years of automotive schooling and experience,) and do not scrimp, always using correct factory Honda parts, right down to the last correct Honda screw.  NO surprises with this car!  So, if you want the best first gen 5-speed for your money, look no further.  Can you buy an insight cheaper?  Yup.  But what you save in initial costs, you'll put back into the car fixing the stuff it needs, both mechanically and cosmetically (believe me, I know; I've done 32 of them now!)  This is where the old saying, "You get what you pay for" holds quite true!  Just look at the pics....Any questions at all, feel free to call me directly at 716-946-6070.

Thanks for your time and consideration!

Respectfully,

Chris in Gasport, N.Y. (14067)

PS: I also have a couple other first gen 5-speed Honda Insights I'll be selling as well, if this one does not suit your exact wants:

Honda to dub Fit-based as HR-V for North America

Sun, 06 Apr 2014

You may remember it as the Urban SUV (pictured above) from when it debuted in concept form at the Detroit Auto Show last year, or know it as the Vezel as the production version was unveiled for the Japanese Domestic Market at the 2014 Tokyo Motor Show. But when Honda starts exporting its new Fit-based crossover - or better yet, building it in Mexico for North American consumption - it will be called the HR-V.
This news comes courtesy of Honda enthusiast forum Temple of VTEC. When contacted by Autoblog, Honda spokesmen declined to comment on the veracity of the report, saying only that it would "announce the name in the near future," but the handle fits with what we know about Honda's history with compact crossovers. The previous HR-V (which was not available in the States) was a high-riding, squared-off crossover built between 1999 and 2006 and based on the Fit's predecessor, the Honda Logo.
While the HR-V moniker might not have name recognition in North America, it would in Europe where Honda also hopes its new crossover will find eager customers. It will also fit in nicely below the CR-V that will continue on as the HR-V's larger stablemate.

Senna's McLaren drives Honda up the wall

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

Honda is getting excited for its imminent return to Formula One with McLaren. So excited, in fact, that it got its new/old friends from Woking to loan it one of its old F1 cars. But not just any old F1 car...
On display at the Honda stand in Frankfurt this year is the 1988 McLaren MP4-4 in which the legendary Ayrton Senna drove to fifteen out of sixteen grands prix that season to take the championship in spectacular style.
Honda provided the engine for that car, a 1.5-liter turbo V6 with upwards of 600 horsepower to propel less than 1,200 lbs. Of course this being a static display car, it's likely been stripped of its engine, gearbox and most other internal mechanical components. But that doesn't make the sight of it any less memorable.

Honda to spool up turbos, workforce with F1 tech

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

Honda has had a longer and more tumultuous relationship with Formula One than just about any other automaker. It had only been building cars for four years before it entered F1 in 1964 as the first Japanese team in the series, winning its first race the following season but shuttering the program a few years later. Honda came back to power the likes of Williams and McLaren to several World Championships in the '80s and '90s, but things took a downturn when it started a partnership and ultimately took over British American Racing. After pouring untold billions into the effort, the economy tanked, and Honda ultimately sold the team, which subsequently claimed the championship - under new ownership and Mercedes power. Now Honda is gearing up to return in 2015 with a new turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain it's supplying initially to McLaren, which in turn is switching back to Honda from nearly two decades with Mercedes.
So why return to F1 now? That's precisely what Autoblog asked Honda's Global President and Chief Executive Takanobu Ito (pictured above with McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh) while visiting his office in Tokyo. While he wouldn't reveal specifics (like when his company's new engine would be available to other teams, as it most certainly will in the long run), Ito-san was clearly happy to discuss the motivation behind the move and the value he feels it brings to the company and its products.
Ito pointed toward the proliferation of motors within Honda's powertrains as a development he hopes to take to road from track
