Salem, Oregon, United States

1993 AM General Hummer H1.

The rare 2 door pickup version.

This is a cool and unique truck in very nice condition.  It runs great and stops great.  All equipment is functional.  It is fitted with a deep water intake and exhaust, and the 24-bolt military wheels with run-flat inserts. It's a pretty basic truck with crank windows, but it does have air-conditioning and a sliding rear window.  It is also fitted with the factory accessory glove-box & cup holders (woohoo!), and the under hood work light.  Also has a brush guard and receiver hitch.  I have had the truck for about 4 years and have had a great time with it, but I rarely drive it so it is time to pass it along to someone else. I bought it in 2010 and have put about 2,000 miles a year on it.  Just before I bought it, the previous owner installed a Jasper engine in it at a cost of well over $10K (see receipts).  This engine has under 10K miles on it.  The only "off-road" use I have had for it was a couple trips to the beach.  It has lived a plush 4 years with me, always garaged. It is a very nice truck for being 20 years old, but not perfect.  The passenger seat has a rip in the back seen through the rear window (see pics), the paint has some nicks and scratches, the inside of the bed has been well used, and every year I have owned it I have had to service the A/C.  This year is no different, it isn't blowing as cold as it should but I will leave that for the new owner.  I have some receipts for this truck dating back to 1994 where the A/C was serviced under warranty, so A/C issues might be a common problem with these.  All gauges and lights function.  Top speed might be around 75 or so.  A good cruising speed is 60-65. I wouldn't hesitate to get in it and drive it anywhere.  Keep in mind it is a 20 year old truck, but for its age it is in quite nice condition.  It has nicks and scratches, especially in the bed.  It's 12 volt.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about it.

It is noisy, loud and cramped.  Your wife will hate it.

It has a winch.  Also included are an extra set of wheels and tires that are in good shape with a lot of tread.

This truck gets a ton of attention anywhere you take it.

I have a clear Oregon title in my name.  Truck is currently registered, insured and in use.

Pay with cash, or with a check written on a local bank that has a branch in Salem, Oregon.

Buyer is responsible for all shipping.  Truck is located in Keizer, Oregon 97303 (just north of Salem).  It is available for inspection most any time.  Feel free to contact me to take a look at it.

Report: Last-ditch sale effort for Hummer post wind-down announcement fading

Tue, 06 Apr 2010

It's getting tough for even the most ardent supporters of the Hummer brand to continue to keep hope alive. Reports the aficionados at HummerGuy.net: "While many of us were hoping for a last-minute miracle to save the Hummer brand, signs from Detroit are indicating that Hummer production will soon cease indefinitely."
It appears as if General Motors has resigned itself to winding the brand down and letting it die a slow, agonizing death. The automaker says that it's no longer considering offers for the brand and dedicated Hummer staff are reportedly be assigned to serve elsewhere.
Oh, and about that "Save Hummer" summit that's planned for April 11th near Chicago? GM, though it is aware of the rally, has no plans to send representation. That sound that you hear? That's just the tolling of Hummer's death knell. Thanks for the tip, Brian!

Team Miller Fisher finishes the 20th Anniversary Rallye A"icha des Gazelles

Team Miller Fisher finishes the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles - Click above for high-res image gallery
Team Miller Fisher has crossed the finish line of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles - in a Hummer H3 driven off a Parisian dealer's lot - and battled from 51st to 12th out of 98 teams after a mistake on the first leg. The Rallye Aïcha, a six-stage trek through the desert, allows no use of GPS, no pace notes, no cell phones, and no binoculars. Pilots and co-pilots find their way between checkpoints with maps, compasses and pencils, and whoever completes the journey in the shortest distance, wins.
The race was made even harder this year by using not the 1:100,000-scale maps of years past, but scraps of paper with increasingly less route information as the race went on. Olympic skier and co-pilot Wendy Fisher wrote to say, "This continues to be the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. An unbelievably tough event. Days were SO long, almost impossible to get all of the checkpoints."

GeigerCars Hummer H2 Bomber is ready for winter...now that it's spring

GeigerCars Hummer H2 Bomber - Click above for high-res image gallery
GiegerCars has a love affair with American cars, and a particularly strange affection for Hummers. The German tuner has created all sorts of strange variants like a Christmas-themed H2, a 700-horsepower H2 built for a Texas sheriff or any number of racing-liveried Hummers like the "Gulf Wing" or this Martini Racing inspired H3.
GiegerCars' latest creation is the Hummer H2 Bomber. The most notable modification is the addition of four Mattracks 88M1-A1 rubber tracks that replace the twenty inch wheels. The rest of the vehicle features a military design theme as well as a roof box with lighting and a silver matte paint finish. Now all we need is a race on a snow-covered drag strip between this and Ken Block's Subaru TRAX STI. Follow the jump for the press release from GeigerCars.
