This is one of the most unique, one-of-a-kind vehicles that you will ever come across! It is a Hummer H1 replica made by Bummer. It has a steel/fiberglass hummer body set atop of a Chevy K30 truck chassis. This conversion was done professionally and the fit and finish is beautiful. It only has 14,000 miles on it since the conversion was completed around 2003.
The truck is a powered by a 350 Ram Jet multi port fuel injected engine paired with a TH350 automatic transmission. The transfer case is a stock GM transfer case. It has lockers front and rear which allow this vehicle to go anywhere you want it to off road but it still has very good road manners. The truck sits on 38" Super Swamper tires on 16.5 rims. The suspension rides at stock height so it is very smooth. It runs down the freeway at 70 mph very comfortably. The interior is amazing. It has heated leather seats and seating for 8 people with plenty of room for cargo in the back. It is well equipped with a nice sound system including subs and amps. The seats are very comfortable. It also has heat and air. All gauges work well. The top is fully removable and there is a full built in roll cage. The roof is lined with offroad lights, I think there are 12 lights total. The floor and doors are fully rhino lined so it is very to clean. Custom built bumpers front and rear and a full size spare tire. This is a very cool truck that runs and drives very well. Remember it is NOT a real Hummer. It handles better offroad than any Jeep or other vehicle I have ever driven. The wheelbase and width make it an ideal candidate for any type of offroad use. AM General to offer civilian Humvee kit car
Thu, 02 Aug 2012For anyone feeling nostalgic about the passing of the Hummer brand, or the actual wartime vehicle that inspired it, now is your chance to own a version of the original HMMWV, albeit without an engine.
After a 12-year hiatus from the civilian vehicle market, AM General is reportedly set to offer a kit-car of the C-Series Humvee. The kit will conform to U.S. government regulations and has been made possible by a deal with General Motors.
The kit costs $59,000 - and you still need an engine. A likely favorite would be a Duramax Diesel V8 and Allison transmission combination, as was found on the H1 Alpha. AM General estimates that an owner could buy the kit Humvee and outfit a powerplant and transmission for $75,000. Not bad, considering that H1 Alpha has an MSRP of $140,000 in 2005.

Team Miller Fisher has crossed the finish line of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles - in a Hummer H3 driven off a Parisian dealer's lot - and battled from 51st to 12th out of 98 teams after a mistake on the first leg. The Rallye Aïcha, a six-stage trek through the desert, allows no use of GPS, no pace notes, no cell phones, and no binoculars. Pilots and co-pilots find their way between checkpoints with maps, compasses and pencils, and whoever completes the journey in the shortest distance, wins.
The race was made even harder this year by using not the 1:100,000-scale maps of years past, but scraps of paper with increasingly less route information as the race went on. Olympic skier and co-pilot Wendy Fisher wrote to say, "This continues to be the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. An unbelievably tough event. Days were SO long, almost impossible to get all of the checkpoints."

When the internal combustion engine finally helped the automobile pass the horse-drawn carriage as the chosen method of transportation for a majority of citizens in the United States, that a step in the right direction. Right? Moving forward about a hundred years... when the behemoth Sport Utility Vehicle that never actually seems to venture off the beaten path passed the minivan in the hearts and minds of families across the country as the people-mover of choice, was that a step in the right direction?
