Note that the car appears to be black and only on close inspection can you see that the color is a very dark shade of brown. Technically, I believe it’s brown with a black metallic. I looked up the paint code (VB2) and it's described as Kona Black Metallic. I've included a close up pic to show what I mean. Beautiful unique color and absolutely stunning with the interior! Below are items that are NEW in 2014 (NOT available in prior years) 12.3 inch all digital instrument cluster (Like S550) Heads up display on windshield Speed Cruise setting Lane departure warning Blind spot detection Turn by turn navigation Multi-View Camera System – Full 360 view Adaptive cruise with full stop/start capability BlueLink - Remote control, emergency and location from your phone! 9.2 inch Navigation/Entertainment screens both rear seats Navigation shown at any time in rear Navigation input capability from rear 3 Passenger capability in rear (middle flips up) 3 Zone climate control with sync (driver, passenger, rear) Improved A/C in seats Completely rearranged driver controls (huge improvement) Soft close doors front and rear Streaming audio capability Ability to store music on hard drive Huge improvements in navigation controls (favorites, groups, etc.) Improvements in voice commands Seating and storage improvements Those were just the NEW items added in 2014. Other amenities not mentioned. SOME are listed below: Power reclining rear seats and headrests Power tilt and telescopic wheel Power sun shades in rear (both sides and rear) controllable from any seat Heated and cooled front AND rear seats More interior room than Mercedes S550 Adjustable air ride and sport transmission settings (super smooth) Awesome heads up display. Pic included shows cruise set at 64, a car is detected in front and the unit has automatically slowed to 60. There’s also a warning that someone is in your blind spot on the right. Super nice! Next Hyundai Genesis caught shooting through the snow... with all-wheel drive?

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Hyundai is still working on getting its next-generation Genesis sedan ready for production, and while these spy shots don't reveal much more of the car's new design than what we saw back in December, our spy photographer did manage to catch an important detail being added to the big sedan. In addition to its rumored 10-speed automatic transmission, it looks like the new Genesis could get an all-wheel drive system based on a sticker in the rear window that says "4WD AT." This would make sense, too, as the car was caught testing in snowy and icy Northern Sweden.
Another new element of the car visible in these pictures is our first look at the car with its LED headlights illuminated giving the front end a more upscale and dynamic look. In terms of its overall appearance, the new Genesis is expected to take some design elements from the HCD-14 Genesis Concept that Hyundai revealed last month at the Detroit Auto Show. There is still no official word, though, as to when we may see the new Genesis unveiled.

What a strike in Korea could mean for US Hyundai and Kia buyers

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

A prolonged factory strike at Hyundai-Kia factories in South Korea could mean that US dealership inventory of certain vehicles, such as the South Korea-built Hyundai Accent and Kia Soul, could dry up in the coming months, depending on the length of the strike, reports Cars.com's blog, Kicking Tires. The two brands together rank sixth in US sales and fifth in global sales.
Kicking Tires gives fascinating insight into how a production stoppage in South Korea might affect vehicle sales in the US, considering Hyundai-Kia has two factories in the US that build the Kia Sorento and Optima/Optima Hybrid, and the Hyundai Elantra sedan/coupe/GT, Sonata/Sonata Hybrid and Santa Fe/Santa Fe Sport. The only one of these vehicles that's built solely in the US is the Kia Sorento, with the rest of them sharing production with South Korea.
Be sure to read the piece, especially if you're in the market for a Hyundai or Kia, or just interested in global economics.

Quality issues drive resignation of Hyundai R&D president

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

Hyundai released a statement Monday announcing that its research and development president, Kwon Moon-sik, and two other executives resigned from their positions, Reuters reports, to "take responsibility for a series of quality issues," according to the statement.
The resignations seem to be related to recent recalls around the globe. A few weeks back, Hyundai recalled 27,500 Genesis sedans from model years 2009 to 2012 in the US for brake fluid that doesn't prevent corrosion of the electronic hydraulic control unit. The recall recently was expanded to include 43,500 Genesis sedans in the US, but nearly 150,000 are reportedly affected including the South Korean market.
"The latest personnel change shows our firm commitment to quality management and reaffirms our will to continuously improve R&D competitiveness," says Hyundai.
