It kills me to sell this car but I will be moving to a new home soon and need to generate some cash. Believe me, as soon as my feet are back on the ground I will go purchase another Sonata. This is my second one and was amazed when I test drove it 2 years ago. 275 horsepower of turbo charged juice out of a 4 cyl. AMAZING! You cant go wrong buying one of these cars. Fully warranted which is transferable to the new buyer. I even at the time of purchase bought extended bumper to bumper for 10 years 100,000 miles. Thats right, no headaches or surprises of those unwanted and unexpected car repair bills, not that you would never need it for these cars. I am a 32 year experienced master mechanic and wouldnt buy anything else. I push Hyundai's on family and friends all the time. Check out all the reports and reviews and you will see why. This also comes with the Simonize protection plan. I have changed the oil every 3000 miles even though they recommend 6000 miles now. I also just put a new set of tires on the front. As you can see by the pictures it has a ding in the hood that I never got fixed because of my 500.00 deductible. That is really the only issue whatsoever with this car period. You wont be disappointed. I also just purchased 1 year of XM radio and I will even throw in the cable required to use your ipod which they charge you 35.00 for after you purchase the car and find out that you cant just plug in. 2015 Hyundai Genesis automatically slows for speed cameras
Tue, 01 Jul 2014Speed cameras are something of a foreign curiosity for many drivers in the US. Sure, there is sporadic use of red light cameras here, but the cams to catch speeders are much more popular in Europe. However, Hyundai might have created a way to end that scourge for our foreign auto enthusiast compatriots. The Korean automaker recently showed off a system on the Genesis at its headquarters in Seoul that could detect and automatically slow down for the nefarious devices. It could make many speeding tickets a thing of the past.
According to Australian website Drive, the Genesis' tech is actually a simple integration of already existing structures. It combines a navigation system programmed with the locations of speed cameras and the sedan's automatic braking. Drivers get an audible warning about a half-mile beforehand to slow down, and if they don't the car can do it for them.
Unfortunately, this potentially money-saving tech isn't leaving its domestic market anytime soon. "This is offered only in Korea and not planned for the US. In Korea, many cars with smart cruise control offer this and it is viewed as a safety feature," said Hyundai spokesperson Jim Trainor to Autoblog via email.
Hyundai-Kia forecasts slowest sales growth in 8 years
Thu, 02 Jan 2014Even with the arrival of the new Hyundai Genesis Sedan (above) and the expected introduction of at least two other new vehicles in 2014, Hyundai-Kia is estimating its sales will only increase by about 4.1 percent this year. Bloomberg has found that figure, which works out to a total of 7.86 million vehicles worldwide, to be lower than average analyst estimates of eight million vehicles. If the automaker is correct, that figure will represent the most sluggish growth for the Korean brands since 2006.
Based on an exchange rate of 1,050 won to the dollar - right now it's trading at anywhere from 1,050 to 1,052 depending on where you look - Hyundai is predicting a 3.8-percent uptick for sales of 4.9 million units, while Kia is expecting a 4.7-percent uptick for sales of 2.96 million units. That exchange rate is predicted to be part of what will hamper sales this year, with a stronger South Korean won making Japanese cars more price-competitive when cross-shopped. It's unclear how Hyundai derived its exchange rate, but 1,050 won to the dollar almost matches the 52-week high for all of 2013.
The company chairman mentioned a "low growth era" in the world economy, and weaker US sales are rumored to at least part of the reason John Krafcik recently vacated the post of Hyundai Motor America CEO, a post that has been filled by executive vice president of sales, David Zuchowski. That unexpected news capped a year in which two top execs resigned over quality issues and recalls and Hyundai agreed to settle a consolidated lawsuit over inflated fuel economy ratings for $395 million.
Ex-Hyundai CEO Krafcik joins TrueCar board amidst IPO plans
Fri, 04 Apr 2014Former Hyundai Motor America CEO John Krafcik has had a tumultuous year. Last June, he won the Automotive Executive of the Year from DNV Business Assurance. Then in December, he suddenly announced he was stepping down from his leadership role at the Korean automaker on January 1, with some suggesting it was because the company's sales growth was too far below forecasts. Now, it looks like the exec has landed a new role on the board of directors of online car shopping website TrueCar.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Krafcik's role will be to build relationships with automakers and dealers, but the job at TrueCar won't be full time. Since leaving Hyundai, Krafcik has also been doing consulting work in Silicon Valley. "It's helped me understand what I might want to do, full, full time. I am just taking things at the appropriate pace," he said to the Journal.
Krafcik, who is widely considered one of the industry's top executives, took the helm at Hyundai America in 2008 and led it to an increase in sales and market share. He was with the company when it won North American Car of the Year awards in 2009 and 2012 for the Genesis and Elantra, respectively.
