I have owned the car since 1998 and drove it less then 500 miles since then.  A Jaguar mechanic in Limerick, PA performed most of the mechanical work on the car.  Almost $10k was spent at that time. Less then 500 miles on the Mechanicals, Brakes & Exhaust. About 5 years ago - New Interior & Top w/Rubber seals.  2 years ago - New Tires.  The car runs GREAT!!

These are the things I can tell you about the car:
* The person I bought the car from told me that the original owner had engine trouble. Jaguar rebuilt the engine and it has less then 17,000 miles on it.
* The car was repainted sometime during the 1980's - There is some paint chipping on the edge of the bonnet where it closes and at the one front fender above the tire. NO DENTS.
* The battery may have leaked at one point.  There is some discoloration on the body just below where the battery is.
* I just had it to my mechanic and the rocker switch for the headlight needs to be replaced as well as the wiper motor. While the car is running, he said there is a minor oil leak by the front pulley, but nothing while the car is sitting.
* There is a small gap between the top and the windshield but the chrome piece that attaches to the top is there but not on.  I will put that in the trunk for transporting.  There is also a gap between the top and both side windows as well.
* One of the knobs for the window is missing.
* An AM/FM/CD player was added at some point.

The engine and exterior are currently getting detailed so she will shine even better!!  I was going to fix and touch-up the things listed above, but my son is attending college in the fall and I need to make my first tuition payment soon. That is the only reason why I am selling the car.  It always turns heads and is a great car for someone.  It is time for me to turn it over to the next person to enjoy. It will not take much to turn this car into at $60,000+ car.  The person in Limerick wanted me to sell it years ago.  He told me this is a great condition car for someone to do a full 100 point restoration to, but I sure loved to drive this once in a while just the way she is!!

Good Luck.  E-mail with any questions you may have or additional photos if needed.  The car can also be inspected and viewed in person with appointment.

The Jaguar E-Type Lightweight is back on the prowl after a few decades away

Sun, 17 Aug 2014

Sometimes procrastination has its benefits. Jaguar originally planned to build a run of 18 E-Type Lightweights for racing in the '60s. However, it was only ever to complete 12 of them. It has taken all of the intervening decades to finally get back to the project and build the final run of new Lightweights. While Jag announced the plan recently, the first continuation model was unveiled during the Pebble Beach weekend.
Coming from Jaguar Land Rover's Special Operations unit, these cars are identical to the way they left the factory in the '60s. Jag is even using the same grade of aluminum for the bodies, and the cars are fully compliant for FIA historic racing. Power comes from an aluminum, 3.8-liter inline-six with about 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque routed through a four-speed manual gearbox. Who could guess that in 2014 someone could buy a brand new vehicle from a major manufacturer that comes with Weber carbs? Though, Lucas mechanical fuel injection is an option.
While they look old, these new E-types are also a wonder of modern technology. To get things just right, the company laser scanned an original car to create the new bodies. Check out the gallery from the unveiling to see this old cat on the prowl again.

Jaguar F-Type Project 7 leaks in production trim ahead of Goodwood debut

Tue, 24 Jun 2014

Just yesterday we brought you word that Jaguar was planning to bring something special to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year - the first product of its Special Operations division - and now we have it right here.
Previewed in concept form last year, Jaguar's big reveal appears to be the production version of the Project 7 show car - an extreme speedster version of the F-Type. Though we still don't have official details, these images leaked courtesy of 4WheelsNews show that the roadster seems to have lost little in the transition from concept to reality.
The bright blue paint job has been replaced by a more British shade of green, but the white trim - including the racing stripes running across (not up) the hood, the grille surround and the number circle on the door - appear to have carried over. As has the D-Type-inspired, fin-like, single raised cowling on the rear deck, though now positioned behind the left-hand driver's seat instead of the right. The wheels are fresh and the front lip spoiler looks even bigger, and the rear wing appears to have been reshaped.

Watch the Chevy Corvette dismiss its Euro rivals at the hands of a Brit magazine

Sat, 08 Feb 2014

European auto writers, especially the British, have a bit of a reputation for favoring their own domestic cars over foreign rivals in comparison tests. Just think about how many times you've heard Jeremy Clarkson deify the latest product of UK loins while denigrating an American rival as a hopeless "Yank Tank." However, we have to tip our hats to the folks at Autocar because in its latest video comparing the 2014 Corvette Stingray to the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type V8 S and Audi R8, it's actually given the Vette a fair shake.
Autocar has put the Stingray through a battery of tests against what it considers to be the three best sports cars on sale in Europe today. And while the tests that it has chosen are somewhat random and subjective, it has concluded that the C7 can stand up against its rivals, even irrespective of its price. It's one thing to hear about how great the Stingray is from American writers, but it's great to know that not all Brits think we've gone crazy for calling the new Chevrolet "exquisite."
Scroll down to see how it all plays out on video.
