Up for auction is a 1969 E-type 2+2 coupe, which has the desirable 4 speed manual gearbox. This E-type is a fully matching number car, which is also very desirable when restoring a vehicle such as this. The numbers are as follows: Chassis number 1R40792, Engine number 7R66124-9, Gearbox number KJS1226 and Body Number 4R359904.
The car came through from the factory with the steel wheels, air conditioning, power steering, heated rear window and the Blaupunkt radio. The previous owner decided to re-paint the car and removed all the outer pieces, i.e. mirrors, bumpers, all the chrome trim, lights, etc. I do not have them, they did not come with the car they were lost somewhere in a move. The car does run when gasoline is fed from an outside container. The brakes will need to be gone through and all the fluids need draining and replacing, as the car has been sitting for sometime. The interior of the car is pretty much complete and is in good condition. The outside body is originally silver and will need attention i.e. door dents and other imperfections shown in the photos. Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year
Thu, 14 Nov 2013Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Jaguar could yet offer more hardcore F-Type R-S
Mon, 25 Nov 2013Jaguar pulled a fast one on us all when it unexpectedly shoehorned all 550 horsepower of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the XKR-S into the new F-Type Coupe to supersede the existing V8 S model with the F-Type R. But that's just the beginning, according to the latest intel coming from the UK.
According to Autocar, in speaking to Jaguar design director Ian Callum during the coupe's unveiling at the LA Auto Show, the British automaker could yet offer R-S and R-S GT versions of the F-Type. Just what mechanical changes those would bring when the F-Type R already packs the company's top engine remains to be seen, but given that the same engine also powers the flagship XJR performance saloon, we could envision Jaguar developing an even more powerful version for R-S versions of the little coupe and big sedan.
The GT version, meanwhile, would likely offer more extreme aero and a lighter form for the truly performance-obsessed. Considering that the new top-of-the-line F-Type is already pushing the hundred-grand mark, you can bet any R-S and R-S GT version would approach double the base F-Type's $65k sticker price.
Hot Rod Garage series premieres with 700-hp big-block Jaguar XJ
Fri, 23 May 2014Roadkill hosts Mike Finnegan and David Freiburger have broken up - kinda - to spin off a new show, Hot Rod Garage, that mostly gives up the driveway and parking lot wrench work for the confines of a garage. We say kinda because while Finnegan is the primary host for Hot Rod Garage, Freiburger plays guest host and the new show starts off by wrenching on the Roadkill Draguar project car.
What's the Draguar? It's a 1974 Jaguar XJ12 that's about to be force-fed a 383-cubic-inch Chevrolet long-block engine with tidbits like Holley carbs, a Weiand 6-71 roots blower and a "custom WillBlow transmission," all good for about 700 horsepower. After that Finnegan gets into swapping parts on his wife's El Camino and some TIG welding lessons.
